With the number of magic-using characters running around the typical superhero campaign, does any sort of natural rivalry develop among magic-using superheroes and supervillains that is distinct from the normal rivalries between heroes and villains, and among heroes.

A friend of mine is stumped for a name for his character, and frankly so am I, so I thought I'd ask around here. The basic premise is that he's a knight from Arthurian times, though he fought on the side of Mordred and Morgana Le Fae (Fay? Fey? Whatever.), though he was decieved into thinking they were the good guys. His background got a little fuzzy here, so I'm not sure how (I'm guessing he died in an act of self-sacrifice to protect someone from the E.V.I.L. family), he wound up in Avalon. Later, in the 'here and now', he's let out into the world to truly redeem himself (the self-sacrifice was impressive and nice, but utterly didn't count for much). He h…

I obviously shouldn't be reading my new Hero book at work when it's pushing 100 degrees outside (and no air conditioning inside). "Fatal Attractions", the Hall of Mirrors map has a spot marked "1". Where's the reference to what the "1" stands for?

Hello all, It's been 10 years since I ran a Champions game and 2 years since I've run any game at all. So recently I jumped into running a game of Champions with my fiance and one of my friends. The first night was a test run to get the players familiar with their characters and to get us all a bit more familiar with the system. The end result was a reconnaisance mission by Calibre (who is hunted by VIPER) and Myst (an unknown telepath and telekinetic mutant). Myst was to investigate a supposed Nest and get any information about an ambassador that had been kidnapped and was rumored to be held there. Calibre, being hunted by VIPER because of his power…

Hello all I have a problem. I am presently running a WW2 superheroes campaign and I have a group of Heroes who have just had one of their number get captured. Now this normally wouldn't be problem except that none of the heroes have a prediliction to actually investigating everything. The players themselves can do it fine but their character just do not have the skills. I don't want NPC"s doing all the legwork but I cannot see any other way to handle it. Normally they are a sort of superhero commando team but I wanted to do something on the homefront for a change. Any suggestions?

I purchased Champions Battleground this week, and I'm most impressed with the product (especially the maps, way to go Keith). I think CB is the best-written adventure I have seen for any system in a long time. I do think DOJ made one big mistake. Not including the stats for all the villains in the book is a bad idea. I think some people will not pick this great book since they will need both Champions Universe and CKC to have the needed information on the different villains. I think WoTC still includes stats for all the monster in an adventure, even if they are already listed in the Monster Manual. I think making a free download of the villains (just the stats. …

"Pushing your players' buttons" is something that every GM is warned against doing too lightly. While it's one thing to give folks what they want, or stories they can really get into, you can push it too far. I'm not advocating that... but I confess, I'm curious. Are there any villains in the Champsverse that you personally find real easy to loathe? Are there some that you look FORWARD to having your character beat up on, even if your character him/herself wouldn't? For instance, while it's not 'loathing', one of my female players looks forward to tromping Bulldozer no matter WHAT character she's playing. His attitude just annoys, and I guess it is very gratify…

I have a player who wants to create a character that is in a wheelchair in her secret identity and activates nanotechnology to walk in her superhero id (i.e. her powers are enhanced CHA in the "suit"). What would be the best way to build that? She would still retain all her secret id skills, etc. when in costume. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

After the thread on the Zeppelin Base, I got inspired and started a mostly Golden Age WW2 campaign. I came up with the package deals, the organizational structure for the allied supers (The heroes are amongst the very few high powered supers at 350 points, most are 250), a nifty base for them (The Surcouf after some modification) a basic timeline of events and a list of the known Supers on each side... So now that I got that out of the way, I realized I had no idea what to do for an introductory adventure???? I think I want a blend of RP so that folks can get into their PC's, the lingo and attitudes, and then a big explosive finale. Has anyone else run WW2 whe…

Guess who's back.. Back again. Anway. My Mystic Masters and Champions in 3D books have finally bit the dust. Fallen apart from too much use, beyond even the amazing fixative powers of lots of tape. The pages stained with various forms of coffee, beer, and even some soy sauce, smudged with cheetos, pizza grease, and what appears to be some cake icing. Any suggestions on where to find replacements? I've cased about fifteen gaming and used book stores within a fifty mile radius with no luck.

Man, I'm going to ask Doctor Destroyer to do a number on the Toronto distributor who handles the only gaming store in Barrie...I just got the Until Superpowers Database today. They also have Millenium City there for me, just in time for Champions Battlegrounds to come out...I can't win. Anyway, even though it's probably long past shelf-life for comments on the book, I'm going to make a couple anyway. I really like the little margin bits on the different heroes and villains; very cool plot tidbits in there. The options for the various powers are really impressive. And there are a lot of powers I'd never even thought of giving a character. So this book shall see m…

... to another thread. Has anyone actually used the info in the random character generator as the basis for a computer version of the same? Perhaps as an Excel spreadsheet or something? OR perhaps the Hero dudes are planning something along these lines... Just wondering along... Edited for cranial gas emissions...

Hello all, Some friends and I are getting together for a game of Champions and we used the "Hero Generator" in the 5th Edition book to get started. One of the characters wants a guy in power armor that has the Trick Ammo Set and All-Terrain Set all granted through his power armor. I'm not overly familiar with Multi-Powers so I'm having difficulty assigning the OIF and Only in hero ID limitations to his powers. I just don't understand where they should be applied. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a character in mind, but am not really sure how to make him, so I thought I would post the idea on the board and see what you guys and gals can come up with. A male character that can control and manipulate probability. Not laser blast or anything, just a quick flash when he uses his powers. The concept is, when he uses his powers to control/manipulate probability, everything slows down, just for him. During this time his eyes are glowing. He then mentaly states the probability he wants to affect, (i.e. increase the probability that the car will not hit the kid), after the desired affect is stated, everything resumes back to normal for him. To someone watch…

Hi, all! We are looking for a Hero System expert to act as a consultant/convertor on a project converting several teams of our SuperFig/SuperSystem characters to Hero stats. You will be compensated in cold, hard, metal (i.e., the latest SuperFig releases when they become available). Some prior familiarity with the SuperSystem miniature battle game is helpful, but not critical, as we can furnish you with the necessary files to bring you up to speed. If interested, please send a note to fourcolorfigs@yahoo.com, and include a note about yourself, your experience with Hero, and anything else you might feel is relevant. Thanks for your interest! Scott Py…

I've been wanting to do a Fantasy campaign, but the group of players I have can't all get together consistently (and it seems that Fantasy really needs a group with skill specialists). Therefore, I decided to do a Superheroic game, as it seems that superheroes, while they CAN use teamwork, don't depend on it like Fantasy Heroes do. While I'm doing a low powered Superheroic game, I am going to run it off 150 + 100, but limit the powers fairly strongly, as well as the attributes. My idea is running an urban superhero genre, much like Frank Miller's run on Daredevil. I really want "powers" to be mystical in nature (much as Stick hinted to Matt that his sensory abilit…

What would happen if tarkofanes or someone else with mytical abilities subbomned orcs from their home world and the orcs, unexpectely, developed superpowers? Naturally, they would all dveelop the same superpowers -- STR 35, damage resistance, +10" running (O End cost), etc. Can you oimagine a supertema having to face thousands of low-level supers who lvie only to destory? Would that be a 100% guarunteed homo sapiens is about to become extinct scenario?

Working on sme fanfic involving David Charles Haller Xavier, aka Legion. He's the love child of Charles Xavier, and a telepath/telekinetic with multiple personalities. Each personality seems to control one power. David, ID teleport. In this reality he has grown from a needy child to a responsable young man. Practices Reform Judism, extremely Reform. Jemail Karami, telepathy. A Sunni Muslem with an almost Buddhist disposition (because it is an interesting challenge to try to write a sympathetic Muslem character right now), Jemail has, by the grace of Allah, experienced two miracles. He survived (in a manner of speaking) a suicide bombing, and he was allowed…

For anyone who has read the various books, What is the deal with the word Shazam? I know what it stands for but can anyone who learns the magic world transform into Capt Marvel or is it only Billy Batson? Does Black Adam have something similar, I was under the impression he was one full time superhuman as opposed to a super/human timeshare. Sincerly appreciate any one who can clear this up for me.

I havent; seen the VIPER book yet. Does that organization still organize its agents into "five-teams" to more efficiently combat both supers and normals? And if so, how effective are they in real terms?

I have two questions on computers ... one in game, one in real life. 1. I'm trying to build a laptop computer for a PC. I can do the stats/skills/talents/programs, but here's my question. Do I do the math like this: (Add up cost for stats/skills/talents/programs), (divide by five), then (apply OAF modifier for OAF laptop)? I have the Champions Universe book, but for some reason, I can't wrap my skull around this. 2. Are the nifty, well-organized character-layouts people put up here (like in the Character Posting Game) from Hero Designer? If so, do they look that slick in Real Life? I'm trying to decide if I should get it.
