I just felt the need to post that after being away from this wonderful game system for so long, it feels so good for me to have returned to it. I have strayed and journeyed through many other superhero rpg systems but now I am back with my first love in games. The main thing that I have discovered as I learned how to play various other superhero rpgs was that they were each trying to be as good and as complete as Champions. I have re-familiarized myself with the 4th Edition rules and look forward to adding the 5th Edition to my library.

Sense Trouble

I want to create a power that enables my hero to sense when someone is in danger and needs his help. It is not limited to someone being in combat, and it does not apply to he being in trouble, but more of an ability to detect when he is needed somewhere. Like when Superman in the old TV series always seemed to hear someone screaming for help over everything else. It should have the ability to cover a fairly large area, and be dicriminatory enough to enable the hero to find his way to the person needing help. I looked at two ways to do this, the first is with the Detect Sense: 29 Points - Detect the need to intervene: Detect A Class Of Things 14- (Increased Ar…

Hi all! I'm starting up a Champions game. I've given the players the Standard points allotment and the range of defenses as 15-25 with 30 as a max. I've run into a situation where ALL the characters have resistant defenses! One has Armor, three have force fields. (They're just coming off 3rd edition so that might be some of the issue... ) FWIW: Only one of these playes has ever played Champions/Hero systems and he had a really bad experience... I ask, because the current incarnation of Champions seems to keep defenses relatively low, such that almost any character takes some effect from a "standard attack". Perhaps in a future game, creating a list of pow…

Recently, after reading some of the wonderful series Rising Stars I've been growing more and more attached to the idea of having a campaign where all the paranormals have a unified origin that has recently occured, making the whole concept of actual superhumans pretty new to the world. It's really neat to roleplay how the world reacts to it as a whole and how the characters can help shape the destiny of their kind. Much like the Wildcard series as well. However, one thing that always bothered me about unified origins is that everything is so black and white. It's either part of the human condition, or part of the paranormal's. It also eliminates much of the fun to be…

I am GM'ing a Champions campaign set basically in the Champions universe. The seven characters are varied 350-400 points and working with PRIMUS as a group. My question is what kind of adventures do you run to bring the roleplaying out of your group. I have run one or two really good roleplaying sessions and would like some ideas for some more. The characters really don't "hang" out together so how should I get them to roleplay more together? Do you run players seperately and just switch between players or what?

Hi! It just dawned on me that the Closed Circuit radio (an example using Mind Link) is for one person... It states up to 8 minds may be contacted, but anyone you wish to contact, would also have to pay the points for the device, correct? Thanks! Harry

Has anyone out there seen an acronym generator for villain organizations? If so, what's the address? Thanks in advance.

Extremely silly power idea, based on seeing the words "Shapeshift" "Usable against others" and "Megascale" in too quick a succession while flipping back and forth through the book helping someone else build a character. "Elvis is everywhere! Elvis is Everything!" Shapeshift - (One Form - Elvis, Sight, Hearing, Touch groups), 0 End, Persistant, Usable Against Others, Megascale. Mind Control - Act like Elvis The ENTIRE population of the city of Las Vegas turns into Elvis impersonators!! (Or Manhattan, or Chicago, or... god help us, London or Paris! Ack!) God, does this sound like a Foxbat plan or WHAT??? Dedicated to Mojo Nixon (of course!)

Hello. I'm looking for commiseration. The Champions of 2018 went up against their nemeses and got creamed. Particularly rough, since they're the latest incarnation of the Crowns of Krim. The GM found them suitable regular opponents for plot reasons and also because of the fairly clear-cut morality (you don't have to feel guilty about opposing the CoK). So, they pop up on an 8- or whenever the GM decides we could use some straight-up action. The only problem is that they aren't the kind of villains who Stun you and then escape before the law arrives. Losing badly to the Crowns can't help but entail infernal woe for the defeated. Mind you, they have us outnumbered 6 to…

With everything that's been going on lately, it got me thinking about the effect that paranormals would have on the world they exist in, and about the often found storyline of attempts to control/regulate them. In a world where it is felt paranormals need to be controlled because they are dangerous, has anyone ever taken it to the extreme where they have been declared a world-wide danger, on par with conventional weapons of mass destruction? If so, how did you handle it?

I thought they made a big deal in the text about how he was STRUGGLING to find some means of extending his life. Total LS would seem to imply that he's already immortal... Does this qualify as additional eratta for CKC?

What are some stupid villain concepts that you have in your game - and still use because the players actually like them? One of mine was 'The Squirrel'. A real squirrel given above average intelligence but still thought like a squirrel. Didn't have much PD & ED but just try and catch him... as in DCV 16 with Dex and small size.

I would appreciate it if I could get a couple of volunteers to double check my CU campaign pdf for grammar mistakes. I made these pdfs for my players and want to make sure they do not have too many errors in them (I have found that I cannot edit myself). The book is 19 pages long (1 page is a cover and another is a back-cover ad). I would post the link here, but the pdf has DOJ art in it as well as a few lines from the CU timeline, and I do not want to violate DOJ's copyrights. This is just something I am doing for my own personal campaign. If a couple of you are interested let me know and I'll send you the link and the username/password from where you can dow…

Okay, can someone explain a little more Cybermind's capabilities? Can he just interface with computers, or other electronical equipment all together? For example, I'm using cybermind (But a teenage version), and I want to do some cool stuff with having him be chased through Millenium City, trying to take advantage of the vast technological stuff. So using his powers to turn on electronical equipment, to screw with the greenlights and red lights and things like that. Or is he generally limited to just computer interfaces and the like? And if so, how would I go about playing around with powers to control other electronical mechanisms? Because as it seems to…

Found this character descriptions on another message board and I just couldn't resist pondering how to convert them to HERO System terms. These ones seem really tricky, though! Any ideas?

I'm working on a speedster with limited physical invulnerability to collisions or move throughs/bys. (Kinda of like Cannonball from the old New Mutants). What kind of limitation would it be on extra defenses if they only work in those circumstances (must be moving and doing a move by/through etc.). Normally I'd say -1. But since it will probably end up being his primary type of offense, maybe -1/4 or -1/2? Opinions? Cheers.

ok ok. Let's say I have a TK power. I know that when I use said power it is reasonably obvious to all around it is me. Let's say I have a red ruby affixed to my forehead. It glows a bit when I use my powers. That satisfies the inherent limitation that all powers are visible. I can buy it invisible. We know how much that costs. Now then, what if my TK power caused big red lights to surround both me and the object I am TK'ing? Not only is the effect visible, it's REALLY visible. Is this worth, say, a 1/4 limitation?

For some time now we have heard the term "politiclaly correct" (though I prefer the term "socially correct") I have created NPC's that are from many different ethnic, racial etc backgrouds. Here are a few, please add ones you have created or played. Lambda; Female, Afro-American, Lesbian ( a kind of Batgirl ripoff) Maccabe; Male, Orthodox Jew (Direct desendent of Judah Maccabe-> Channukah) (Think Espirita from West Coast Avengers) BlackJack; Male, Afro-American (Ex-Army Sergeant, highly skilled) Gold Dragon; Male, Asian-American (Green Dragon had 2 brothers in a game I GM'd) White Witch: Female (caucasian). ("Real" Magic and…

Anyone have even the faintest notion how to go about building him? I'm thinking of using some similar incarnation of him as a 'for hire' bad guy and 'for hire' good guy. I'm just lacking in a way to start. I suspect that the best approach is a dedicated portion of the character is Multiform or maybe Accidental Change with huge bonuses. Input is openly accepted.
