Quick question: How appropriate is the name Wuxia for a hero? points about the character: He is a wandering MA type hero Has Minor Ch'I powers (powers marked with a ? are not set in stone) *Speedster level Dex/Speed but not movement *Extra inches in leaping (10-15" total or so) *Healing? *Mystic senses? *no "flashy" powers such as Fireball *regeneration? Will be centered in Asia (probably Japan instead of China, but he will be Chinese) For some reason I see him using a staff Kind of modeling him after Kung Fu the legend continues

Hi All, I'm building some characters for a group of people (very new to HERO) for my upcoming Champions campaign, and I'm having trouble building a concept, so I thought I would ask around here. I'm building the Armored Hero of the group, and I'm basing his armor on(i.e. stealing completely from) the Cyclone battle armor of Robotech (well, Mosepida) fame. For those of you who don't follow the series, it's a motorcycle that converts into a suit of power armor, and some abilities change and some stay the same. What are some ideas on how to model this? Vehicle with Multiform? Multiform with OIF limitation? Just a cool special effect for Extra Running? What do…

Hey all! I've (finally) had a chance to go through the chat server code and start to refine it. Hopefully this will prevent any crashes during the Monday/Thursday chats. To that extent, I could use your help. I need to "stress test" the chat. I'll be in the chat room all evening today from now (~4pm CT) until about 9pm CT. If you have a minute, please stop into the chat and see how it works for you. Thanks in advance! Dan

Well, I got it and read it and here's my thoughts: Pros: 1. City layout, infrastructure, and culture very well-detailed. 2. Neat NPCs. I simply love Mr. X, Shadowboxer, Scarlet Shield, Dr. Silverback, and the others. 3. Lots of neat in-jokes. Probably more than I can detect. I laughed a lot. Cons: 1. The big emphasis on PSI really threw me. Frankly, I think it was a waste of space here. PSI just doesn't grab me in the least and I could think of many better things to put in place of its rather expansive treatment. A greater thematic variety of villians, perhaps, more plot seeds, more tips on integrating your campaigns PCs into MC, or more info…

I'm looking to see what types of pens or tips you use for inking. Also, do you prefer Photoshop or Illustrator for coloring in illustrations? Last but not least any advise on what type of layers to use for coloring (specifically grey scalled art)? Also a question for fun. When was the last time you did a drawing and without scanning it in, colored by hand the original and make any copies of it. Thus keeping it a rare one-of-a-kind. Thanks guys I appreciate the skills and talent you bring to all of us here. THE PATRIOT

There have been several discussions on what to use for Champions miniatures. Here are a few customs I've been working on. I've taken some liberties, particularly with colours. Does anyone else start out making characters by choosing a name then developing the powers/history? I find this method works pretty cool and keeps me focused.

Curious how you all would interpret this: After the gruesome defeat I posted about a while back, the Champions 2018 players were wondering if the GM missed a trick. After all, at least two of the 2018 Crowns of Krim can sense living souls, so they should have been able to tell that Eternia wasn't really dead, despite being dismembered. We were wrong. In the Great Godawful Smackdown Rematch Fight, the villains threw out a few taunts ("Toy of Teleios", "Soulless spawn of science", that sort of thing), which seemed to confirm some of Eternia's worst fears. Her doubts about her own "humanity" are reflected in her Psych Lims, and she started to suffer a sort of collapse. …

Mention of BLACK HARLEQUIN in another thread got me to thinking. Several times I've tried to introduce old-fashioned DC-style theme villains into my campaigns but they seem seriously underpowered compared to my players. I mean, the Joker is a martial artist with two or three poisonous gadgets. He's basically a normal and has no resistent defenses. The Penguin has his trick umbrellas, a small gadget pool in HERO System terms. Catwoman has slinky moves and a whip. The Riddler doesn't even have slinky moves; he's just a crime boss in a leotard who leaves clues behind. In the comics and on video they're the terror of Gotham City; the writers can contrive to make them …

How difficult is it to Mind Control someone into killing themselves or doing something equally self-destructive (like carrying a bomb or a deadly plague onto a subway train for you)? This would be a truly nasty ability for a villain of terroristic or sadistic bent. I also wonder how you can build a device (Focus) to the effect of "Look into this gem and you will be automatically compelled to kill yourself immediately". This could also make for a villain so foridable that he cannot be defeated -- he can literally kill anyone he wants to with full legal impunity, and any superhero who attempted to stop him would be dispatched with their own powers!

Yeah, I know, stupid title, but I couldn't figure out a good way to phrase it. Basically, I need help with a character ... I'm trying to increase his defenses (PD/ED) with some special effect other than raw toughness. The 'Just Nicked Me!' power out of the Champions genre book confuses me for some reason, and while it'd be appropriate, I'm having trouble doing the 'Bulletproof Spandex' route. As it sits, the character can generate a DCV of 15 between Dex and Levels, so I'm not worried about targetted stuff as much; it's the Area Effects that make me nervous. His present defenses are 6PD/10ED (base) and a level of Combat Luck (and I'm generally opposed to multiple …

Mechanon wants to destroy all organic life, but has no desire to rule, right? The dead aren't alive, right? So howsabout Mechanon and Takofanes coming to an agreement to kill everything and Takofanes raise them as undead to rule over?

I'm working on an Aikido based Martial Artist and I need a name. I've come up with a few based on my oh so small understanding of Japanese. I'm looking for something water based to denote the flowing style of Aikido. If someone knows the language, could they help identify which of these might be good and which are bad for whatever reason. Iwashimizu (kind of a mouthful) (supposed to mean 'water trickling from the rocks) sakamaku (surging water) medaki (the smaller waterfall) mizukagami (reflecting water) mizukusai (many meanings, but includes both distant and watery) shinshoku (erosion) Any thoughts?

Anyone care to help me name this character? Dark Champions character whose power is Duplication. The color of his power is that he acts as a splitter in his own timestream. Imagine everyone having a life path along a time continuum. Then imagine that this character has the power to stand in the center of his and split himself into 4 other simotanious clones. As a side result from this interruption to his own timestream he ages slower and subsequently has lifesupport aging 200 year lifespan. A couple names I've had already (besides the already taken XMEN Multiple) are SPLICE and EQUATION. Thoughts?

Many "City" books for the various Superhero games have a list of the top 10-20 richest people in town, leaving 4-5 spots open for NPC/PC created by the GM/Players. Looking through MC, though I couldn't find a list. Here are 5 I have devised: 1) Donovan Bane: A multibillionare inventor/businessman. Donovan is a classic Lex Luthor type powermad congrol friek. Complete with two sexy assistants/Bodyguards and a hulking chauffeur. He has gone to great lengths to conceal both his criminal holdings and the fact that he is a mutant. 5) Danae Churchwell: 20 something heiress and blood relative of the Duchess. Danae gives generously to charity, hosts fundraisers a…

Okay, so I finally got my grubby little hands on Conquerers, Killers, and Crooks (I know, sad really), and have really enjoyed it. Has anyone a favorite among the new villains? Heck, maybe some of them I think are new aren't, and I just missed some 2nd or 1st Edition reference. Still... so far, I see lots of promise in : Istvatha V'han (She's got the ambition of Darkseid with a genteel twist that I find intriguing) The Crowns of Krim (Especially Bloodstone..not sure why.. just brrr) Black Harlequinn (Hello Joker type story lines) Gargauntua (Big, but not dumb) Nebula (Cop gone too far )

I'm going to be running a Death of Professor Muerte flashback adventure tomorrow in preparation for having him return much-transformed several months from now. I've checked all the references in Champions and Champions Universe and I searched the boards. One of the posts in the Cheating Death thread said that Steve said Muerte is never officially coming back, but I can't find the original reference. I'd hate to bring back my version of him if he's going to be in a future Champions supplement or adventure, so If anyone could point me to where Steve sealed Muerte's fate, or if anyone has the inside dope on the Prof., my players would certainly appreciate it. One or …

I just got my copy of Champions Universe today, and I couldn't help but notice the part where it mentions the first appear- ance of superhumans taking place in 1938. My question is this: would this part of the Champions Universe history preclude the existence of a superhuman who gained his powers at an earlier point in time -- say, for example, the mid-1870s? I have an Idea for a group of villains: One is a mentalist One is Super Strong One is a Blaster One generates Forcefields/Forcewalls One is a Mentalist Essentialy a group of 1 trick ponies EXCEPT: They have special bracelets that will allow them to share there powers with anyone who has a similar bracelet, Sooo There all Superstrong Blasters, generating Force Fields with mental powers The items should work for anyone who straps them on (can not remove a bracelet from the link) & the powers should fade if the character with the power is KO'd Should also have a range of about 1-3 Km, outside of it the person with the power migh…

This is sort of the flip side of the "legacies" thread below. Has anyone looked through the CKC or some other Champion product yet and thought about making a relative of one that was on the side of right? Not only would you have likely excuses for similar powers/abilities, you'd have a great tie in for hunteds/watched. I've recently been tempted to make an offspring of Doctor Destroyer as a Superhero. I know, the big guy doesn't seem very romanatic, but it occured to me that his study of his 'condition' (His resistance to anti aging tech and most cloning) might require him to breed with a woman in order to have a genetically similiar test subject. Bing. We have a so…

In the interests of anality (is that a word?) and being as I am from Michigan, I would like to point out the only factual error that I have found thus far in the Millenium City book. On page 45, it is mentioned that Michigan State University is located in "nearby" Lansing. Having been there yesterday, I can confirm that it is in fact in East Lansing, which is a separate community adjacent to Lansing proper; a suburb, I would say, although I am not sure how they actually define it. In fact, I purchased my copy of Millenium City in East Lansing. If this is the only "error" in the book, and I suspect it is, then you folks have done an absolutely amazing job A…
