After ending the most recent campaign with my group, in which only 1 of them died in the "Final Showdown", we have decided to do something a bit different with the next game. We are going to keep it in the C:tNM timeline, and use the rules in the C:tNM book. We may inclue a power or two of our own creation, depending on what we can come up with using the book first. We are all very big fans of Yuen Woo Ping's films, and they have decided they would like to play a game with the same sort of style/power level. So we are setting the game in an unnamed island nation in asia, and the characters will be low level supers with powers stemming from kung fu ability. …

Vote for the villians of the piece as the Trickster whittles down the best of the baddest for inclusion in his Elite Guard. Will CU's Thunderbird or SAS's Alice, Queen of Hearts be the first member of this line up? Only you can determine that. Vote early (but not often, 'cause like, that'd be cheating) at http://www.champions-vs-sas.com/

I was going to call this posting "Pointless Champions" but I felt that was opening me up for WAY too many puns and jokes. My current game has run out of steam due to a variety of things (we only meet once a month and illness and family obligations have stretched the time span out to almost 3 months now...) and I'm debating whether to continue or try something different. One of the players mentioned the idea of a high-powered game, so I immediately dug through my notes and found a Digital Hero article by Theron Bretz (hope I spelled it right), who has made contributions to Haymaker! as well like myself, about "pointless" Champions. The idea strikes me as interes…

One of my players wants to play Jon Wrath, Agent of PRIMUS in our upcoming Champions campaign. He's got a good concept (parody Nick Fury, essentially, give or take a few differences), but the problem is after we statted hime up, even cutting corners he's at least 100 points over 350 (and thats without the de rigeur Hovercar which turned out to be just out of the question). The Perks alone totalled up at over 30 points (including of course, Liscence to Kill, more for the ability to say "I'm an internationally renowned secret agent, and I've got a liscence to kill!" in a gravelly voice than anything else). Also, he wanted the characters superhuman capacity…

I am running a Mentalist and was looking at Menton for some ideas. Something that confuses me about Menton is the fact that he has Mind Scan, and also a Sense minds power that is targeting, Discriminatory telescopic, etc. This seems to me to be a little redundant. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two are? Aylwin

Hey all, Storn has been running a M&M game in RDU Neil's RDU universe (see Storn's thread) and yesterday he mentioned possibly running a game in the UK after the curent one ends, which in the RDU has become very magical. I said, "Great! I want to play Nuadha." As a fan of the myth, I've been using Nuadha as an internet alias for a while and I've had some thoughts on how to build him in Champs for a while. However, he said that he thinks that there already is a Nuadha/Nuada in Kingdom of Champions that may have already been introduced in Neil's game. (OT- I made a joke about the imposter Nuadha yesterday and when I saw nuada post on the Millenium City …

I was visiting my local comic/game shop last weekend and found the store manager going through some old games that the owner had finally desided to sell off. It was kind of neat going through some of those REALLY old games. (Some were never played! The counters weren't even punched out!) ONe of the games was the origional Champions boxed set. (That was used. A lot.) I've never seen the origional cover before and was wondering, is the villian on the cover suposed to be the villian Holocaust that is in CKC? The description of his costume is almost exactly like the one pictured on this old cover. Was Holocaust an origiona villian of the Champions game that made it to 5th ed?

The Gaming Report site (http://www.gamingreport.com) has started a new feature -- top 10 lists. I'm posting this notice because the first such list is "Top 10 Favorite Superhero RPGs". Folks might want to hope over there and vote for Champions -- especially apropos in the middle of the Origin Awards write-in campaign currently being organized, as Champions is one of the products HERO has asked us to support. I believe it can't hurt to put the Champions name in front of gamers, and this seems one way to accomplish that. When you get to the site, look to the right hand gutter, second item down for the voting link.

Just quoted in my game. The PCs had captured a lesser demon, and they were talking about what to do about it, and one mystic asks "Well any reason to keep him here" to which the martial arists responds "No. If he stays, he'll just go into politics."

Each of us has a favorite story of how the BIG M met his demise. I wondered if anyone wanted to share theirs? Mine?: Mechanon was approached by GALACTUS, who offered Mechanon the chance to be his herald, IF he would help Galactus to 'eat' the Earth. Since Mechanon hates organic life he agreed. He began with the idea of covering the entire Earth with a highly potent poisonous gas that would put everyone in the world to sleep. But there was 1 flaw, the formula would be easily countered by a rare element- moon rocks (just follow for a moment) Mechanon went around detroying ALL the moon rocks in the world then he contacted Galactus and prepared the poison. T…

While making a joke about Germans this morning I had an idea for a scenario. What would happen if someone "kidnapped" the worlds sense of humour? I'm talking Foxbat, obviously. What could he get for it? An island, cash, what? What he want for its safe return to humanity? How did he get it in the 1st place? What would be the effect on the world if no-one could laugh, ever again? Yes even at Aglars hairstyle! Would the world go insane? Would comedians be out of business? Would anybody care? How do I go about implementing it in a scenario? I was thinking of making it a sub plot in a scenario and then the Heroes would have to investigat…

Okay, I'm looking for opinions on this guy. I'm running a 150-pt superheroes game, set in present-day Chicago. Superpowers are fairly common but with a few exceptions not very strong. Realism is not overly enforced with the exception of statistics; IMC characters are "strongly discouraged" from having huge dexterity scores just for the game benefits without justifying it in concept. With no further delay: Name: Rotor Real Identity: Billy Jameson Age: 22 Height: 6'5" Weight: 260 lbs Appearance, in costume: Bulky-looking black armor, constantly emitting a whirring noise (low pitch and tone, about as noisy as an electric toothbrush). On the back of…

Ok, I am building a PA character for a game, however I am getting conflicting ways on how to build him. I thought that you bought all the powers seperate with the OIF disadvantage (I am not talking about weapons just things like the armor, flight, str enhancement etc..). One of the other player in my group who has played for a while said I should buy all of those items in an EC. Now frm my understanding this would not be good because If I were knocked unconscious all those powers would shut down unless I also bought them as persistant, plus it seems that I would burn a lot of END if I bought them that way as well. DO any of you haven any suggestions on this? Thanks

Hey Counter Earth Patriot! Would the real Patriot please stand up? You and I have a very interesting similar situation here. Not only the sharing of the Patriot name. But the sharing of being members of a team affectionately referred to as THE VANGUARDS. Of course you are in Chicago and we are in New Briton. Now this wouldn't be bad...but we are confusing people. Now we could have a typical DC/Marvel crossover here and mistake each other as "the bad guy" and do battle only to unite our forces to defeat the baddy that's truly out to torment us...or...we could team up and take over Dr. Destroyer's old island and re-ignite the cause for Truth, Justice, and t…

Okay, next question. Yeah, brain got going. Been surfing the FREd and have been trying to figure out how a character gets into Orbit. What speed would be necessary, given that gravity eats 1" of flight for each 1" travelled upward. I'm assuming Flight as the method to attain orbit. Obviously, someone could use a Teleportation power

My brain has been idly producing odd power combinations for the last couple days. The one that stuck in my head is this: How would one go about having a power whose "charges" cause a depletion in another non-charged power that the character possesses. For instance: Power Armor Bob flies by use of attached rocket packs. They have unlimited fuel (due to his Niftium Engine). However, he can cause the rocket packs to detach and strike like missiles (RKA, or a PD affecting EB. Makes little difference). Each time he uses a rocket attack, his maximum flight speed decreases. When he is out of rockets, he can neither fly, nor fire off more rockets. Though, …

I'm trying to hash out my latest character concept for an iron-age champions game. (think X-Men) The character I'm going to play is a cross between Thing and the Hulk. I'd like him to have a normal identity, but when angered or enraged he should transform into an earth elemental type. Basically built of rock and dirt with various forms of vegetation growing off of him. I'd like his attacks to be HTH mostly, with maybe 1/2d6 HKA to account for sharp rocks jutting out of his knuckles, etc. The problem I'm having is with the transform. I'm not sure how much it should cost, since I'm buying the density increase and stat increases as independant powers. The de…

Allright guys Im a bit of a fan of V&V. So after you guys are done razzing me I would like to find out if there are any people out there who have seen Champions to V&V conversions. I have seen plenty of the inverse( from V&V to Champions ) but i was wondering if there was some of the inverse. Several of the V&V modules have the V&V to Champions comnversions but there is a distinct lack of the reverse. the math is kinda simple in some ways but it does get a tad bit more complex. the actual question was: was there conversion kits in the back of the early Champions modules for converting Champions to V&V? So if you have real an…

Hard to even think about making the Man of Steel in 350 pts, but here is what I think would be a decent start. Power Man Player: Donald Val Char Cost 55 STR -2 18 DEX 3 21 CON -4 15 BODY -4 13 INT 3 13 EGO -4 20 PRE -3 18 COM 0 20 PD 0 20 ED 0 6 SPD 2 16 REC 0 50 END 0 55 STUN 1 6" RUN02" SWIM010 1/2" LEAP0Characteristics Cost: -8 Cost Power END Powers of the Olympians, all slots: Only In Heroic Identity (-1/4) [Notes: Must declare, "The power of Apollo, protect me.", then in a great big light show, he is converted into Power Man] 38 1) Stronger than a locomotive: +47 STR (47 Active Points) (added to…
