just brainstorming really but I have some power combo ideas which could be kewll... Brink with shrinking always on, he has 70 strength but is only 1cm high, his devistaiting attack is to crawl into opponents ear and turn that brain to mush (not sure how to formulate that attack) Giant with 10 speed and martial arts, carrying a magic spear... speedster that moves sooo fast he has multiform always on (two other versions of himself, all moving at speed 12) don't even know if that's legal...oh yeah also he's moving sooo fast he's invisible and is disolide... what else?

Right now (09:36 PM EST) there's a program on The Discovery Channel that breaks down the martials arts using motion capture, biomechanics, etc. So far, it's been great. It runs until 11:00 pm EST, and then will repeat at 12:00 pm EST. From what I've seen, I'd recommend it to anyone using martial arts in their games.

I got this idea from a recent JL TAS episode. Your character get in some kind of fight with some focus using Supervillian who zaps you with his raygun (don't bother how he could he hit you or not, let's just say he rolls a 3), and you find yourself in the far future with no superpowers and no apparrent civilization. You have some provisions but not many. What would your character do?

NOte: Origin is still a rough draft Character Clasification: Perfect Sub Cat: Super Mage Background: Rachel's father was to be the next Loremaster (Archmage type of thing), however things did not work out that way. Her father died in a battle with an interdimensional being. 8Simply put Rachel's mother was devestated, she decided that magic would have no part in the child she carried in her womb's life. Moving from the small appartment she had shared with her husband to the upper east side, where her family lived, she tried to make a break from all things having to do with her husband. She would tell Rachel as she grew that her father had been a police…

You and your team arrive at the scene of a hostage situation. One villian is clearly visable and appears to be waiting for you and your team. You soon discover the villian and all enterences to the building are protected by force walls. The villian demands everyone surrender or hostages will begin to die. You surrender, however one of you team members does not and attacks the villian. The attack is totally stopped by the force wall. The villian responds by have a hostage killed. Your teammate refuses to surrender and gets ready to attack a 2nd time.

You and your team have spent the better part of a week tracking a werewolf that's been attacking people late at night in city. After chasing "wolfie" through city park, the team gadgeteer finally manages a clean shot on the beast with a tranquilizer gun. The creature goes down and immediately starts reverting to human form. Much to your shock and dismay, the werewolf turns out to be... your own DNPC. What do you do?

You've captured the chief Henchbeing of your Campaign Master Villan (CMV). The CMV is planning to set off a bomb so powerful that it will vaporize the entire city (easily a 200D6 EB RKA Explosive), and the timer is set for exactly six hours. Your team can make to where the bomb is in at least one hour, and there is no time to evacuate enough people out of range to make any difference in the body count. The problem is, only the Henchbeing knows where the bomb is, and he isn't talking. And doesn't care if he/she/it gets blown to bits. And there is NO time to find it by any other means (i.e. the location has Invisible to Sight/Sound/Mental Effects). What means woul…

Here's a character conception problem that I'm having. The character I'm creating is a "True Immortal"-and if a Vampire detects them, the Vampire will do ANYTHING to get ahold of them, to drain them of blood. The smell of them, in the words of one particular British vampire-"Is a drug that is nearly impossible to not take." Do I buy this as a very odd, limited, No Consious Control Mind Control or some other means?

Okay folks, I'm an infrequent poster, but this is one I feel you guys would dig... http://www.penny-arcade.com/childsplay/index.htm Penny Arcade is an online comic dedicated to video-games. It's often irreverant and generally rude but it has a huge following and the two monkeys that run it say they are asking their readership to 'use their power for good'. I agree. I've told friends and relatives to forego Christmas gifts for me and instead donate to the boy's cause. I'd encourage you all to do the same. Just my two cents... take it or leave it. -Dire

Hi guys! Here is my situation. I created an alternate world for champion/Hero 5 where a great virus affected our world and killed 70% of the population (Post-Apocalyptic Super Hero Game). At the same time, a small (and I mean SMALL) number of individuals where not only immune to the virus, but were also granted superhuman powers. I want to keep the number of super humans VERY low and therefore I am looking for other antagonist then other ALTERED (as they will be called). I want my players to feel, and realize, how special they are. My players are supers that worth the basic 350pts (including drawbacks). This said, they are many times more powerful then humans,…

I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to those glorious, self-destructive comments that players provide that are too twisted and wrong not to add to a campaign. I got a great one tonight from Jen, newbie to Champions and the evil that is my GMing style. Prior to this, her gaming experience was D&D 3.0 and Macho Women With Guns. To Quote... "Nazis from Mars." Twisted, wrong and too good not to use.

Hi. I need some advice regarding a power build. Would the following power build be acceptable in a campaign, or is it too abusive? The idea was to mimic superman's ability to soak up damage, but still be able to to be knocked into sleepy land, given enough effort. Still, this build seems to make a character 'extremely' difficult to bring down. It's essentially made for a brick template. A sort of absorbtion/pseudo telekenetically enhanced strength template. The character is a music lover with a good amount of non combat skills. I had points left over, so I put the extra ones into improving her non combat skills, and 'adding' some combat skills like a combat sk…

A character that can change the Radioactive levels of things. Or change Radiation Types like Alpha to Gamma. I've come up with this Transform power because I want it to be more or less last forever. Change Radioactivity Transform 1d6: Radiation Level (Minor) Improved Target Group (More Radioactive or Less Radioactive) +1/4 Heal by Half Life or Decontamination. 12 Active Points I'm also going to add a Change Environment I'm open to suggestions. A.

I was getting ready to pick up Shades of Black (between the 20% off sale being too good to resist and me actually having money), and I noticed the Ultimate Mentalist is on sale as well. I've been looking at creating characters with mental powers/storylines/etc, but I would reallylike to know is: What kind of feel does the book provide? I mean, is the Ultimate Mentalist on par with the likes of Ninja Hero? Can I find out where mentalists are coming from, what about their ideas, attitudes, philosophies? I already have the USPD, but what kind of "power flavors" does the Ultimate Mentalist have? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The Master List of Limitations

I've had several people inquire about the health of the Master List of Limitations, and the reason it was down. I'd like to apologize to everyone for the inconvenience, first off. Secondly, the list is back on the web. The URL is http://www.globalguardians.com/masterlists/index.html Be aware that the Master List is currently undergoing a reformatting, so not all the pages are available. Steve Ball, the Global Guardians webmaster, is working as hard on it as he can in addition to his regular job and the other pages he creates for the GG. In addition, both myself and Guardians developer David Doepke is working to complete the missing entries.…

I was googling yesterday in a search for distributors of Superfigs and saw the news on hero from July of last year. You mentioned that you were going to ask the Superfigs folk to paint up a few iconic Champs folk in mini form. If that's in limbo, I was wondering if you still wanted some minis? I have a Grond already, though no final pics. You can see him in the "In Progress" stage at: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/proditor/workbench.htm If you are still looking for some Champs minis, I'd be honored to whip a few conversions out for you and the guys at Hero. I figure I owe you guys for making such an awesome game and all.

Long time no write. Ready for a story that will thrill and delight. A story that will enhance your very being. A story like no other told before. Then you've come to the wrong thread. This is just an update on what is happening with The Random Character Generator (RCG). For those who don't know (and for those who do but have forgotten) I made a Champions and Fantasy Hero RCG as well as a Character Combat Rating, Random Dice Generator and Name Generator. All of those great programs can be found online at http://www.trimira.com/hero_stuff/hero_stuff.html Now on with the story. I've been working on the update for the RCG for a few months n…

Just for fun, who would win the superhero community's award for best and worst costumes? Extra credit if you can think up a cool name for the award itself... I was going to try and put this up as poll, but I would never get the range of suggestions that I would in an open thread...

Gold Rush Games is looking for talented writers and honest reviewers to take a look at our soon-to-be-released book, The Dragon's Gate: San Angelo's Chinatown. "But how can someone review the book if it's not out yet," you ask? Simple. We will send you a PDF version of the book for you to read through and critique, with the agreement that you will not distribute the file to anyone else and that you will destroy (delete, remove, wipe, erase, etc.) the file when your review is written. In addition, we will be happy to send you a copy of the printed book for the asking. Thanks to digital print-on-demand technology, we have a small batch of pre-release copies o…

Hi Everyone, After a 13 year lapse I'm getting back into playing Champions again. In the past our group always played the default power level or higher(250 points - 350 points). I'm wanting to run a lower level campaign similar to the "Wildcards" series of novels. The player's characters will only have one or two powers, or be highly skilled(martial arts, special forces, etc.). The Champions genre sourcebook suggests something like 200 points or so. I still think that may be higher than what is needed. I've seen decently powered characters posted on rec.games.frp.super-heroes built on 100 - 150 points. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent am…

Just picked up Millennium City, and I have a question, and a possible error to point out. The question: who is the female super depicted on page 22, page 50, page 135? I particularly like the last image, with her looking up at the statues of heroes past. The possible error: on page 22...the Irish Hills I'm familiar with are southwest of Detroit, along US 12. (My hometown is halfway from Detroit to Chicago on US 12.) I'd have to find a topographic map of Michigan to know if they actually extend very far north, but having driven I-94 to Detroit and the surrounding areas, my guess is that they don't.

I have a player that wants a power he calls "Momentum Compensation." The idea is that his character can control kinetic energy and he can compensate for the motion of the earth meaning he can apparently move the target in the opposite the earth's rotation. He bought it as extra STR on throws, but that doesn't seem right. I have thought of TK, but that doesn't seem correct either. I have thought of flight. This might work If there is a way to use it for only one round on a target. I have thought of teleporation as an attack. What do you think?

Or rather, how much is enough? I've had Champions and now Hero System 5th Edition for many years and I've made dozens of characters.... however I've never played in a game. My friends all play D&D and aren't that interested in a superhero RPG. Well, soon I'll be playing in my first game (with people outside my D&D group). So I have some questions... I get all the rules and stuff, but here's what I want to know.... how much is enough? How much Dex should your average character (brick, speedster, blaster) have? How much defense should he have (PD, ED, resistant/not)? This is the kind of thing you can't learn from the book. I'm starting with…
