(Note. The numbers here are not in any way based on research, no corrections please). Scene opens. Hitler is sitting in his office. He is studying a map of Russia which has been marked with German and Russian army units. Two high ranking Staff Officers enter the office. One holds a sheaf of papers. Both look extremely nervous. The Staff Officers salute smartly and say in unison. "Hail, mine Fuhrer!" Hitler salutes. "You are here, Gut. We must send more men into Russia. The slavic scum are on the run." The 1st Staff Officer replies, he is clearly terrified. "There are no more men to spare, Mine Fuhrer." Hitler's eyes bulge and hi…

After decidng that where my players need to get to isn't a tourist destination I needed a bit of info on Tramp Steamers. Think of the ship in Peter Jackson's King Kong and you've got the right idea. The pdf gives just enough info for GMs - I'm thinking of having the crew being given 'a better offer by that nice chap over there' then the captain hires agents of the player's enemy - sweet - night time combat in cramped conditions....MAN OVERBOARD!!! http://home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/TrampSteamer2.pdf http://www.louislamourgreatadventure.com/images/Semiramis/SS-SemiramisTopDown72Sm.jpg

In the 1920s, Ronald Knox, Sherlock Holmes enthusiast and himself author of several detective stories, was engaged in trying to codify the ground rules of detective stories. Like others of his generation, he saw the genre as a kind of game – ‘a mystery whose elements are clearly presented to the reader at an early stage in the proceedings, and whose nature is such as to arouse curiosity, a curiosity which is gratified at the end.’ The ‘Ten Commandments of Detection’, laid down by Ronald Knox in 1928 are in this link ... http://www.crimeculture.com/359/Rules.htm

A neat series called Underbelly: Razor has just started on TV in Australia, dealing with organised crime and the razor gang wars in Sydney in the 1920s. In theory episodes can be watched online here, although I don't know if it will work for people outside Oz. NSFW! (Language, nudity, drug use, violence...) In any case, it would be a good place to start for a bit of googling. The period clothing and sets are awesome. The characters are "colourful", to put it mildly. All that's needed is a McGuffin, and the scenario would write itself.

So, since I did not find anyone else having posted about this yet I thought I'd share: Looks kind of cool to me, in a "low rent, Saturday Sci Fi show" sort of way! -Carl-

One of the stables in a good pulp feel to a character, is their OUTFIT. What they look like, and the coolest of the Cool, are so cool, they sport something that no one with less coolness in their system can sport. A FIN on their Head. The Fin bearing Hero stands about all the Rest. he is inherently cooler and more awesome then any non fin bearing character. But the question is, WHO are they? So, to start answering that question, which will find us a lot of Fin Bearing characters, I'm starting this thread. It's in the Pulp section for a reason which should be apparent to anyone that understands Pulp. Once we have a good selection of Fin sporting folk, w…

If you have not seen this flick, and are a PotA fan, you need to go see this flick. It's Pure Pulp Awesome, and pays tribute to all the good stuff before while ignoring the Drek Mistake that happened back in 2001. After seeing this flick twice this weekend, I wanted to rave about it, but I'm still pushing folks to go see Captain America as well, so I say, Double Feature It. Well worth even night prices. It does have me thinking of possible growing this thread with some Planet of the Apes write ups and campaign stuff. I've done a sort of Pulp/Post Apocalyptic game before back in the BBB days, so might convert that to 6e and post it over here once I clean…

http://atlasobscura.com/place/blood-falls I'm probably the last person on the forum to not know about this, but I thought it was cool enough to post. I particularly like the origin: 2 million year old "Primordial Ooze".

A bit of a change of pace from the usual elves, wizards and superheroes... This is Dorothy (from Oz), but the client requested that she was older and that she have silver boots from the books...not ruby from the movies. I had fun with this one. While it is Dorothy, I think it could work for various Pulp heroines. The outfit is from the client and it said circa 1917. Just so ya know... Saw this while randomly surfing and thought I'd pass it along. The pics where it takes on a Nazi flying saucer are especially fun. Something you might be able to use for a master villain--or whatever else you can think of.

O.k. Simple enough. You make a suitably pulpy title and the next person explains what happens in the story. Then they rop their own Title of Doom. And to start off I'll even be nice and give you a choice. The Clicking Death The Silk Strangler

Alright, so after trying to figure out how to pulparize Harry Dresden, and coming up with multiple answers, I thought I would get some other people's take on a concept. An idea in the vein of Harry Dresden, and Blackstone the Magician. The idea is basically: Pulp era detective with magician training. So, a pulp era detective that has training as a stage magician. If you were to make, have made, or are making, such a character, how do you would you? What skills and talents? Any sort of secret abilities? Something that might just be silly (pulling flowers out everytime he meets a woman)? Like to hear what you think.

Just thought i'd come on here and give everybody a quick rundown of what my players have been up to lately. They have, for several sessions now, been in China, sent there to rescue some archaeologists. After many adventures going up river, a trip into the Himalayas (which featured a guide that spent most of his time drunk and a flatulant, spitting yak !) and sundry mysterious happenings, our intrepid adventurers have finally reached their goal, only to encounter a Nazi expedition who, upon capturing them, have treated them amazingly well (they have mistaken the P C's for the missing archaeologists). Finally having reached the dig players and nazis have found the R…
