1d6 Transfer DEX to DEX ( Cumulative +1/2 x16 max effect +1 ) ( Reduced END 0 +1/2 ) ( Continuous +1 ) ( AOE 6" Radius +1 x2 Radius +1/4 ) ( 79AP ) ( No Range -1/2 ) Real Cost 53pts... Is this the right way to make a power that constantly transfers dex to the character within 12" radius...and the book states that transfers don't effect the targets figured characteristics ( SPD )...but would a transfer dex effect the targets OCV and DCV? And would the AP that my characters DEX gets from this power does it increase my SPD and OCV and DCV?Also on page 75 of 5th edition;Under the Area of Effect part...it says that an adjustment power with AOE effects everyone in the…

I'm trying tio figure out the best way to write up this device: It is a wristwatch-sized controller that gives you access to a time control machine that is remote in time and space. It enables you and any other person within a radius of one hex (in other words, in any of the hexes around you with your hex in the center) to travel in time and, to a limtied extent, space. As long as it is activated you can go back and forth as needed. If the people travelign with you step outside the radius, they are out of your range and, if you leave before they get back in range, are stranded. In addition, you can activate a "cloaking" feature that makes you undetectable by an…

As I said, stray thought. Ok, we've all seen various house rules about a to-hit roll of 3 being max damage, etc. Can at times be unpleasant in superheroic games if you didn't want to hit the target that hard. ("What do you mean I just did 24 body to that VIPER agent?!?") Instead, for such a "perfect" hit, allow the character to choose any damage in the range possible - they hit exactly as hard as they wanted to. So, for example, a hero w/a 12d6 attack who doesn't want to seriously hurt an opponent, and having figured out that their defenses are at least 15, could choose to do 15 BODY and 63 STUN (3 sixes, 9 fives).

Had an idea for a different kind of power framework. Its already in my campaign and I like the way it works so I'm not looking to see if its impossible to do with the system. I just want to know what others think and if it is wrong a way to build it with the hero system. Here goes: The character in question has a 240 pt Magic pool, 48 Control Pool (requires spellbook -1/2, KS: Magic Roll -1/2, only change at base -1/2) Now the character has a set of abilities he wants to use to enhance his pool. So I built it as this: 32 EC:Archmage Training (Can only use with spell pool -1/2) 32 A. Master of Elemen…

I did a brief search, but I couldn't find an answer to my question. Is there somewhere that lists all the changes from 5th to 5th Revised?

I am currently in a game where KB is the standard, however a couple of my characters attacks would make sense to do Knock Down instead. If I were to apply a modifier on changing a killing attack to KD instead of KB what value would you the board consider it. My first inclination BTW is call it a -/+ 0 modifier (aka a note)

I'm confused. The description of Move By and Move Through on the character sheet list them both as 1/2 phase actions. That would seem to imply that something else can be done with the other half phase. But both Combat Maneuvers require a Full Move. And taking a full move means that no other 1/2 phase actions can be taken during the round. So I'm confused. If Move By and Move Through take a full phase to perform, why are they listed as 1/2 phase actions? Thanks in advance.

Ok... to avoid some of the acrimony from some of the other threads, I thought I'd start a new one. (I give it 9 posts before arguments begin... ) Anyway... I was thinking. I understand that certain folks don't feel that DOJ should try to make a Stand-alone game product... though I'm in the camp that does feel that such a product could be a big win for them. I was thinking... other have also said that trying to compete in the areas of fantasy or horror would be a bad idea, since WOTC and WoD have those areas covered. I kind of agree. While I'd like to think that Champions could again be the "sportscar" of the line... I don't think so anymore. It was cu…

I just got done with a minatures painting challenge called the "Chick Challenge" and one of the models I submitted is a superhero mini that my wife dubbed "Amber Alert" (bad I know, blame her not me). For fun I tried making up Hero stats and a history for it, but most of what I came up with was pretty lame. I challenge you forum members to come up with something better. I'm curious to see what people will come up with.

Was thinking about this today--since noncombat skills often incur specific types of penalties, couldn't one reasonably buy levels only to offset penalties(and not to improve the unmodified roll)? For example, one could be a skilled gymnast or acrobat, trained to routinely perform fairly difficult feats to the extent they are no more difficult than simpler ones. Say, having a 12- skill roll, and 4 levels versus penalties only? Or a character who's always unflappable and smooth, but not necessarily always successful, might have some presence skills at 14 or 15-, and several penalty levels to offset difficult or unusual conditions for performing the skill. There…

I started this thread to exchange stories about our favorite characters of all time! Two of mine were randomly generated, but this is an forum for ANY characters you played/played with who deserve to go in the HERO Hall of FAME! I have 3 nominees: We were near the end of high school, and a small group of friends agreed to try Champions out. A couple guys had some ideas but two guys didnt. So we tried the Random Character Generator that used to ship with Champions. We ended up with quite good results! Tai Shan, martial artist, whose martial art was Tae Kwon Do, and whose signature move, which we quickly labeled "the 'ol boot to the head," never failed to…

You don't need ideas from a no-account punk like myself, but they are fun to discuss. Here's the pitch: a version of Sidekick in hardback on glossy paper with awesome artwork and all of the skills, powers, perks etc. Make it complete, make it classy, make it expensive. To be honest, I haven't even sold myself on the idea yet

Got the Wonder Woman Season 2 DVD? Good. Check out Disk 1, Side 1, episode 3 -- The Man Who Could Move the World. One of the betters eps in the series... well it's my favorite, anyway. In particular I'm talking about the Mine Field scene. /short description for those without the DVD Wonder Woman is facing a telekinetic. She's trying to talk him out of the fight and failing miserably (I mean, he doesn't even bite at "Whatever you want, I'll do..." ). He yells "Stop!" and suddenly she stops, fidgetting against some unseen force -- we've seen him do something similar a couple of times in the episode. Here's where things get a little different diffe…

Hi all, been gone for a while, long enough to have missed the premiere of THE ULTIMATE MYSTIC. I mean to get it, but first I'd like to know -- those of you who have a copy, how good is it? I like both ULTIMATE BRICK and ULTIMATE MARTIAL ARTIST, and I have high hopes for UM. Does it list sample characters? Just how much detail does it go into on real-world mysticism and magic? Thanks for any help.

I'm building a race that when it dies, its spirit reincarnates in another animal body being born nearby. Its a cat race and when they are slain, their spirit finds the nearest kitten being born and is reborn in that body. After two months, it has all of its former memories/abilities and even begins to change back into its former self physically. So, how would you stat this? I am thinking it would be based on the Resurrection power, since that is the only way to come back from the dead. But how would you work the reincarnation bit? The body wouldn't "resurrect" as per normal with the power, and it might be some time before the character came back.

Ok, this has me confused, and I couldn't find anything on it when I searched, so I thought I would put it out there as a "How do you all handle this?". I can't seem to find anything concrete in the Sidekick about it. And I am a bit confused about it in general so here goes. I am going to run a superhero game using the Hero system. How do I handle equipment? I know that the superheroes by it with character points. But what about the freeze rifles they find on their arch enemies super soldiers? Can/do they get to keep them? how does this effect their points? Do they have to spend experience to keep and use them? If so why? I don't think my players will accept…

Just curious how folks would write up the following: The Silver Samurai is a mutant who can generate a form of energy, probably a tachyon field, with which he surrounds his sword. He can use the sword, so energized, to slice through any known substance except adamantium. The effect is like that of a disintegration beam.

If I want to make a land mine do I have to buy both Trigger and delayed effect to simulate the fact that the power activates later and by a set circumstance? Also, if I wanted to cover the mine with a layer of dirt or grass, would that require me to purchase invisible power effects?

Knockback does 2x stun if the initial blow that caused the knockback knocks the person out? Hmm, I wouldn't of thought so since the target's Forcefield etc would still be on until the end of the segment. Of course, maybe I'm wrong with that as well.

I'm building a multipower for a skilled fighter. One facet is a damage shield, another is a parry, and a third is a 1" Radius AE attack. Now these powers he can only do if he has a weapon, like his sword in his hand. He has already payed for the sword focus and its abilities, but the Multipower itself isn't a focus, its just skill. It only requires a focus to use the multipower. I gave this a -1/2 limitation "Weapon focus required". Would this be the proper way to build such abilities. Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I recently ordered my copy of HERO System 5ER, but until it will arrive, I am looking for materials to read. This forum have a lot of stuff, but I am searching for something more organized. So my question is, can someone link me to websites that have HERO materials like character stats, powers buildup etc? Thank you.

I'm trying to develop a character that can first see a location he has never been to, and then teleport to that location. Currently I have it built as a megascale Teleport with a Linked Megascale clairsentience that only reveals the current view of the area. Is this the proper way to build this ability? What would be the best way to do this?

I've noticed a few comments on the "graininess" of Hero in lower powered heroic campaigns. I suppose an example of this can be seen when looking at the Strength Table. I lists scored that end in 0, 3, 5, or 8 and leave a little to the imagination when considering the differences between say Str 11 or Str 12. I havn't seen a breakdown of this anywhere (so please excuse me if I'm pointing out something obvious) so I'll pitch in 2¢. The progression is given as +5 pts. equals +100% effect and looking at the Strength chart, the Lift(kg) column specifically, strength ending in 3 or 8 fall about half way between the scores ending in 0 or 5 (+50%). I once figured out a …

A kinda weird question. If some aspiring villain or collector (sex unimportant) was interested in 'collecting', what would be some of the modifiers or penalties? I'm assuming that a rich, powerful, charismatic person could collect as many 'groupie' type normals as they wanted, however important NPCs or anyone with any sort of independent will would probably have at least some resistance to the idea. What level of mind control would be needed to convince a player's DNPC or a NPC hero(ine) to join a 'group'? Or what degree of Ego/Pre/Com/Seduction/Persuasion etc would be needed?
