Teleios has come up with a new experiment. A brain parasite. This body horror monster is a larval creature that enters its hosts through the nose or mouth and burrows its way to the brain without causing any significant damage to the target. Once within, it is able to fairly quickly take control of the target and maintain a high level of fidelity to the original personality. Once in control, after a day or two to settle in, it begins to spawn a few new larva in the sinus cavity. Infected beings seem to have a mild sinus condition. A small batch of them was released at a frat party at Millennium City University by one of his agents, the …

In looking at Stronghold, a grab bag mix of personalities of the superpowered, it makes me wonder if a different approach is warranted. Consider a super criminal who robs banks. While powerful, they aren’t a significant danger to society at large. I’m thinking the likes of Shrinker or Ogre. They may loot and rob, but they aren’t going to kill a bunch of people or destroy a city. Then consider the members of Eurostar. They are superpowered terrorists. They act to topple governments or hold cities hostage. Should they all go into the same prison facility? Would it be better to segregate the thieves and robbers from the really terrifying v…

So... I've got two big events coming up in Meta-Earth. First is the invasion by Istvatha V'han's forces from another dimension, and then the campaign's transition to Galactic Champions. (I'm also running the Great Supervillain Contest at the same time... but that's another matter.) I've got this character, the Imp, as readers will attest from a while back. It's easy to send a detective (Thorne) from her race to Meta-Earth to cause trouble while trying to track her down. This helps introduce the Players to the wider multiverse and makes the invasion seem like a less jarring experience. Almost a narrative ringing of a doorbell. Alternatively, there i…

Let's have a discussion about villains. When playing Champions who do you think has been the most annoying villain you have encountered. Whether they be powerful or weak it does not matter. But those villains who just annoyed your character and seemed to be the kind you never could truly get rid of. Could be ones from one of the Hero books or one that your GM created themselves, does not matter.

Does anyone know of existing character write-ups for the alien invaders? Would save a lot of effort if I didn't have to re-invent the wheel. Thanks!

Now and then I get the urge to make a fictional city for my players to game in. New Constantinople, for example, was in the US Pacific Northwest. Lately I've been thinking of going outside my comfort zone .. only a little and I thought "Where would be a good spot to put a Fictional City In Canada?" I figure as there will be some Silver Age logic (Albeit Tarnished Silver in my games), I can BS a lot on reasons for it having happened in the CU (My version of it) where it didn't in the real world. But I figured some of the Canadians (And Canada adjacent) folks we have on our boards might be a valuable source of wisdom and suggestions on things …

Have you ever considered what a supervillain is like in their secret ID, and how they interact with the world in their civilian identity? Imagine Mantara (pgs 192-193 of CV3) taking a day off to just visit the aquarium. Not plotting anything. Maybe she just likes looking at the clownfish. How about Black Paladin (pgs 35-38 of CV3) teaching a medieval history class, grading exams or writing a paper on something he finds intellectually interesting for publication? Publish or perish, after all. Maybe Foxbat (pgs 117-119 of CV3) goes to a comic book convention as plain old Freddy Foswell and attends the panels of his favorite comic artists?…

Hello Herodom! I took a look around after not really being satisfied with the Omega Beams presented in Champions Powers, and was specifically looking for something akin to Homing. After looking at the responses, I was curious about what other custom adders folks may have used in the past. Did you have a power where you had to create an adder? If so, what was it and how did it work?

Who would you think would be considered the nasties villain of them all. I mean the one that all your players are truly scared to have to encounter.

Last Saturday, our heroes ran into a situation where they were being reviled on a talkshow. Our GM likes to use interesting/funny names so here we go. The talkshow host was a smarmy guy named Bart Babble of the show "Vent Your Spleen!". On top of that, an Alderman started to raise questions about the hero building. The alderman was working with the judge, Rory Rotheart (rot-heart), who was letting thugs who were committing crimes off for the slightest reasons. Turns out the Alderman was a Viper Nest Leader working with the Judge, transporting illegal goods. The talkshow host, Bart, was just a convenient person to keep the heroes busy. However, some good detective work on …

Anyone has used the Brain Trust in an adventure? I have a plot idea and could publish it here, once we play it, but it would be interesting to read some people who used them or fight them before me.

Simply put, I would like to hear how you would use the four villains I created using the Heroes In A Hurry book? For those who need a refresher, they are: Professor Hyde: Illegal pharmacist and drug dealer. Blackhead: Gross brick and agent of Professor Hyde. Winterblade: Hi-Tech ice generator like DC's Captain Cold, but using a sword instead of a gun. Miss Innocent: Little girl appearing (but not really a little girl) mutant mentalist who "asks" people for the objects she wants to steal. Special Note: I'm assuming your going to modify the villains to suit your campaign. I don't want to know how your g…

Im not going to stat out Gorga just yet, but just give the idea of Gorga. Gorga is a golden age giant robot created by a mad scientist in order to rob the city. Gorga was basically nullified but not exactly destroyed by a group of golden age superheroes. Just recently Gorga reawoken and is still trying to follow his creator's master plan. Powers: Gorga is really really strong and really really big. He is hollow and can carry lots of stuff inside it. Obviously it can survive in most every environment. And given time it can heal by self repairing. I might be able to use Heroes In A Hurry as base, then add Life Support (Total) to it. I'm p…

A staple of the comic book genre and frequently romantically involved with one of the heroes (or would like to be). She can be competent and a go-getter who can get herself out of some troubles (Lois Lane or Vicky Vale) or a jaded, frequent kidnapping victim (Roxanne Richie from Megamind). Who is the plucky female reporter in your campaign?

(Contains spoilers of the villains past) I'm planning on doing a Champions episode where the supervillain, Hideous, gets healed of his past injury and stops being a supervillain. I'm going with the original version of Hideous which leaves a bigger opportunity for exploration of what happened. Off-hand, I'm thinking a supervillain was battling Lady Blue to set her up as the bad guy to cover-up what was really going on: storage of illegal chemicals. The heroes exploration will lead to the villain, having worked for a company, which does a multitude of illegal shadow operations. It could expand to Viper being behind this or a supervillain team. Still thinking on …

I was wondering what sort of House Rules GMs out there have to simplify / speed up Hero System combat.

With emphasis on the Super. Something I've been wondering about is how certain conventions were decided on. 12 DC attacks feels about right for your baseline hero: bricks can lift a solid 100 tons with 60 STR, mentalists can steamroll bystander's minds while a bit of MD still counts for something, etc. But one thing that I don't quite understand is the top-end villains in the Champions universe: your Dr Destroyer types. They seem to have a baseline 30 DC power, whether that's Dr Destroyer's Destroyer-Beam, Menton's Mental/Telekinetic Powers or Takofanes's Darkest Sorcery. But isn't that a bit much? I only have the 5e book downloaded at the moment, but even a m…

Ok folks. I just noticed an announcement for a new product. "Forgotten Enemies #1". The first one focuses on Gryphon, Halfjack (who had 5th edition stats in the VIPER book), and Hideous. I don't own this book yet, but, well... Is Halfjack still a member of VIPER's Dragon Branch? Is Hideous still the rampaging beauty smasher, or is he more akin to Jason Vorhears, killing anyone who enters his territory? Has Gryphon devolved into a mindless beast, or has he recovered some human intelagence? Also, who would YOU like the author to tackle next? Mine is Timemaster, followed by Road Kill.

The idea behind Miss Innocent and her crimes is to use her Mind Control to ask to be given what she wants then leave. She figured that if she gets handed the object she wants then "it's not stealing". In "costume" she dresses im various elegant gothic lolita fashions, trying to look enough like a cute little girl as possible (don't worry, she is about 16). She wants what she wants, but doesn't actually want to harm others physically. Modules Used Mental Master Mind Master (Telepathy, Mind Control only) Miscellaneous Mental Powers (Mental Discipline, Psychokinetic Shield) The Actor The (Ex) Criminal Mutant The Mas…

So, for a campaign focusing on said reality-warping artifact; how would one track it down? Obviously starting with the leads, of course: who last had it (Cirque Sinister); who else was involved in fighting over it (most of Vibora Bay's heroes); where it was last seen (the San Sebastien Swamp, presumably near CS's base); etc. But what happens when the leads run dry? e.g., divination shows someone looking like Dr. Macabre has it, and he's gone to ground. Assuming whoever wields it is smart enough to hide, what sort of spoor would the Janus Key leave?

Flash Defense already counters the Normal Damage BODY, right? So why would taking Resistant for it even be an option? Edit: For the sake of clarification, the defense I'm appraising is the V'hanian Broad-Spectrum Force-Field: Resistant Protection (12 PD/12 ED/8 Sight Group Flash Defense/8 Mental Defense/10 Power Defense).
