Good morning. I've been chewing over this idea quite a bit, as always happens with me I have too many imaginations for one to hold them all, so I'm going to post some initial thoughts I have here on building my NWO for Giant Robots. Influences: I grew up playing Battletech as my first real "board game" that I didn't hate - this is because it involves guns and (wait for it...) Giant Robots. Who doesn't love Giant Robots? There's a very gritty feel to that world which I've rarely found replicated elsewhere. The other game that I loved to play on my PC was Heavy Gear II, possibly one of the greatest examples of how Giant Robots can be stealthy ever. I've al…

Someone was looking over one of my designs and noted the stats for the lasersight (as presented in Dark Champions). He questioned the validity of the build, which leads me to ask -- is it too cinematic/powerful? Does anyone have any experience with using such a sight and what the practical range for such a device might be? Personally, I'm considering halving the benefits from a lasersight, if only for game balance purposes. I also want to have the benefits for non-braced characters. i.e. if the sight gives you +2 OCV and +8 versus Range Mods, you only get +1 OCV and +4 versus Range Mods if firing without Set and/or Brace. Thoughts?

I'm fairly new to roleplaying games in general, and have not played Champions yet, but one of my friends is an experienced player and wants us to try out a game, and it sounds like a ton of fun. He says he's got an idea for a Dark Champions beginner campaign. I was hoping some of you more experienced players might be able to advise me on ways to set up the following character: I'd like to play a deadpool/bullseye (minus the insanity) type character, who's lethal with any kind of projectile weapon. I want him to basically be a smartass and a thrillseeker who doesn't take much seriously, and doesn't seem scared of much of everything. I intend for him to have been a CI…

Okay, my virtual worlds are colliding. Over on the Straight Dope message board, someone's noticed a similarity between The Answer in Dark Champions: the Animated Series and the Straight Dope's own inspiration, Cecil. And, there's a thread on it here Anybody know where the inspiration actually came from? Allen? Steve?

This is basically a lead operative in a CTU agency not featured on the show in an undetermined as of yet US city. She basically fills the Jack Bauer role of *** kicking and torturing. I need some help and advice/criticism will also be appreciated. 1. I don't know too much about Jeet Kun Do, I just sort of picked a discipline from memory, then I looked it up and saw it was Bruce Lee and figured that's cool. If anyone has better take on what a person with her background and disciplines' MA would look like, sound off. 2. Her military history is a complete work of fiction and I really don't have any experience with that sort of thing. Is it plausible? I'm aware that wo…

I'm not sure if the history that I want to post will appear as written. I have a 3 page history, written in Word (I think it's Office 2000), with several Footnotes. Has anyone successfully posted something like this before? If so, any suggestions? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated - And supported with the appropriate Rep. OR, Should I include a link to another site that would store it as a "PDF" file? THANKS - In advance!

Cassie had dropped in (okay, snuck in) to Jen Harper's window, just to see her old friend. A month after the fact, Jen was still starry-eyed over the ring Mike had given her when he'd proposed on Valentine's day. While Cassie was genuinely happy for her friend, she managed to hide the annoyance she felt at the reminder of her own perpetually lonely lifestyle. "I just hope this new mob war doesn't spill over into our neighborhood, we're awfully close to Little Italy." Jennifer bemoaned. Cassie flinched, "New mob war? What happened?" Jen blinked, wondering how her friend hadn't heard. "I think yesterday's paper is still downstairs. I'll go get it." Jen came back a mo…

I'm developing firearms for my Kazei 5 setting, and want to use the Mateba Model 6 Unica since it was featured (IIRC) in Ghost in the Shell. My question is -- what would it's HERO stats be? Any special OCV or Rmod bonuses? Here's the gun: And here's an article on it: http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Revolvers/Mateba_Model_6.htm

Unlike Eosin's 'finding art' thread, this is intended for people to post their own artwork, similar to the thread in the Fantasy Hero forum. I'll start - I don't have stats, write-up or even names for these characters yet - just messing about in Poser. But I like the pics, so I'll probably make a character or two out of them.

I'm fairly new to rpg's in general (other than computer based ones, anyway), and have a friend that's been playing Champions and Dark Champions for a while, and wants to set up a game for a few of us to try. It sounds like it could be a ton of fun, and I've got some ideas for the character I'd like to create, but I wanted to get some initial advice from all of you. I'd like for it to be a sarcastic Deadpool/Bullseye (minus the insanity) type character with either superhuman aim, or just incredibly good aim,and maybe some kind of Longshot-style luck power that would give his already amazing marksmanship a boost. Any ideas on how to do that? I could also use help on a…

I'm thinking of starting up a rip off of Wizards' Urban Arcana setting.... I assume that the Character Pack has the Package deals, right? Most others do, but I want to be sure.

Specifically I need some pictures of thugs... I am a bit of a stickler about attaching images to the files I make in Hero Designer. I try to put a picture with each one. Normally I do a google search to find an appropriate image, but I am having no luck with this one. I want to find a generic picture of either a single street gangster or a small group of them. Artwork is probably better but even an actual photograph might work okay. If anybody has anything that they think would work please direct me to it.

Four Brothers as a DC Campaign Premise? I just watched Four Brothers and thought that it would make one hell of a campaign starter. Basically, there is a saintly woman who takes in children. Usually she manages to find these children adoptive parents but more than a few were problematic enough that they weren’t adoptable. These children she raises by herself. Fast forward to the point where most of these hundreds of children who passed through her door have grown into adulthood. Then brutally murder her. Instant campaign with the players all tied together but capable of coming from any background. Dozens of strange contacts. Last but not least, the Characte…

Okay, inspired by the nice touchy feely arguments about Batman in this thread, I decided to try one of my few attempts at a superheroic character. This character is completely modelled off of the Batman Begins version of Batman. I have not nearly read enough of the Batman comics to even attempt to translate that/those version(s). This is my very first try at a superhero character using 5th edition rules and my few 4th Edition Champions characters were rather generic and rarely played. Just a few notes. I realize that this character is built along the same scale as regular superheroes and not the less powerful point scales suggested by the Dark Champions supplem…

HOLLYWOOD ACTION HERO PACKAGE The following was inspired by the film Silverado, which led me to thinking how action movie heroes all seem to have the same skill set. They are strong, quick, tough, and capable fighters, who tend to put their foes down hard. This package can be used for modern day characters, certain Pulp heroes, Wild West heroes, and even science fiction heroes. Abilities Cost Ability 5 +5 STR 15 +5 DEX 6 +3 CON 6 +3 BODY 5 +1 SPD 14 One Shot, One Kill: Deadly Blow (RKA +2d6; OIF (weapons of opportunity; -1/2), Only Works With Firearms (-1/2) 5 Strong Right Cross: Hand Attack +2d6; Hand-To-Hand Attack (-1/2), Punches …

You've seen the plot before, from the Scream series to old classics like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street: the slasher movie. Using the clique write-ups in Teen Champions, you can populate your own slasher series. But how would you tweak them to be more like teens in the slasher genre? What about adults, like parents or the police? Who would you populate a slasher movie with? And what sort of abilities would you give the slasher? For more supernatural types, Damage Reduction, Regeneration, and a vanishing Teleport are pretty standard, but what else would be good? How about those more mortal slashers?

Check out the great Map created by Labrat that you can use to locate other Hero System players at: http://www.frappr.com/herophilesunited. Take a minute to add yourself to the map! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: I took a minute to update my original post to point to Labrat's original Frappr map instead of the new one I had created since there were more folks signed up in his. Hi. My character needs to have this gun (I'm playing a Dr. Watson clone, and that's Watson's infamous "service revolver"). Does anyone have a write up for this gun? Thanks.

This question is dealing with the rules on page 264 of Dark Champions. It is stated there that many types of explosives are considered to be Street Level equipment and most grenades are Military Level equipment. My assumption is that industrial explosives of the sort used in commercial demolitions and mining (dynamite, TNT, etc.) should probably be rated as Street Level availability. Do you think that this should include some types of plastic explosives too? Just how tightly are these sorts of explosives regulated? How stingent are the license requirements? Do you think a character with Demolitions skill and SS: Chemistry should be allowed to brew-up his own pipe-bom…

Greetings. I was a little bored so I tried another conversion. This time, it's the unnamed F.E.A.R. operative from the recently released video game of the same name. If you are presently playing or plan on playing this video game, please don't read on. There are some serious spoilers from the game and I think that they may diminish your enjoyment of one of the greatest first-person shooters I have played. I would put this character as a "Street-level" Champions character, DC:TAS character or perhaps a high-powered Masked Vigilante character. Enjoy. F.E.A.R. Operative Background: The F.E.A.R. Operative's first mission was the elimination of Paxton Fettel, …

A man had been going throught the list of the Sex Offender Registry foir your metropolis and killing anyone with multiple counts of offenses against kids. He managed to kill over 2 dozen of them before he was captured in the middle of taking down his next victim, but escaped from the station while they were trying to identify him. He has used a variety of means to kill offenders, in fact he hasn't killed in the same way twice. He has used only non-lethal weapons and tactics to avoid police and to escape. In fact, he was only captured because a police officer was wounded by friendly fire, and he didn't want any others hurt. Hours after his escape, he issued a statemen…

Is there any human level rule for this beyond targeting them as foci? Just a -2 seems pretty easy to hit. I can just use the foci rules, but I was thinking there was something more specific for it.

There are a thousand and one people on the Global Frequency. A worldwide independent defense intelligence organization with a thousand and one agents, all over the world. Anyone you know might be with them. It's the world's little open secret. You could be sitting there watching the news and suddenly hear an unusual cellphone tone, and within moments you might see your neighbor leaving the house in a hurry, wearing a jacket or a shirt with the distinctive Global Frequency symbol... or, hell, your girlfriend might answer the phone, and then put on her Global Frequency badge and promise to explain later... for all you know, they have your file, and you'll be recruited…
