I was wondering if someone here could give me a bit of detailed information on this product: Hudson City Blues, SKU: HER438. It is an old edition book that Hero Games still has listed in their online store, but there is no description. I am trying to decide whether or not it's worth purchasing based on what it might contain in the way of campaign ideas that could be transposed over to 5th. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does anybody know where I can find a list of the most commonly encountered guns. I am looking for lists that tell what guns are commonly used by street gangs. Another good list to find would be what the most common (in terms of numbers sold) guns in the US. I have been googling for this but I haven't had much luck.

Stop me if you've seen this one before. Sure, he's using low-powered shot, but that's still amazing shooting, and an amazing weapon. Now, what do you need to simulate that in DC? (There are no rules for recoil, but surely that should give some bonus; also, the shooting skill -- just how many CSLs and PSLs is that, and how are they limited?)

I'm exploring having a power similar to the World of Darkness background "Arcane": "A mystick with a high Arcane may simply "slide away" from view and memory or appear to ordinary to notice. This ability is not invisibility per se and does not conceal a sorceror during combat. If someonw searches for the mage, however, they'll find it a frustrating experience. Somehow, things just happen to cover their quarry's tracks: cameras malfunction, sources disagree, and clues the investigator just knew were in that file no longer exist. " Anybody have an ideas?

I'm looking at possibly doing a campaign on Hero Central for Dark Champions that explores a somewhat unusual subgenre. It is a particularily grim look at the "Toon Noir" genre created by Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Disney's Bonkers. By "Grim Look," I mean that this is going to be for mature audiences and not be about corny jokes or silly slapstick like the Disney series cited in the source material. Setting: Modern day, in the fictional city of Jonestown, California; an algamation of elements from a number of large cities. There are Humans and living cartoons, called "toons." Tone: Much darker than the source material, this game is definitely for mature gam…

http://www.jefflew.com/anim.html The Killer Bean 2 is a short CGI film in which a coffee bean gets into a gunfight with a group of beans who won't turn the music down at their party. While not exactly the greatest in terms of plot (or dialogue), it is notable for the gunfight stunts used. The Feng Shui list loved this short, due to all the ideas one could crib for Killer archetypes. So, I offer the link here for all of you DC gunfighters to take a look at. Note -- the film is around 65-89 MB, depending on the version you download.

I was wondering if any other GMs had built a "cranial jack", the prototypical cybernetic implant that allows future computer users to plug a cyberdeck directly into their head, a la William Gibson. I've seen one build that used the 5 point Perk "Computer Link", but to my mind, this is quite a stretch. The Computer Link description states "A character can buy Computer Link to reflect the fact that he has permanent access to [heavily restricted] databases." Although the Perk's name certainly sounds apropos, the perk's actual benefits are very different, as the brainjack has no real relationship to secure or hard to access databases, per se. Since the brainjack is…

When I first saw the thread on the Death Note, I thought it was going to be about a noise of certain frequency and intensity sufficient to cause death. While that may be fearsome, indeed, there is the oft maligned, but just as deadly Brown Note. For those of you who don't know, the Brown Note is a legendary tone that when played causes the person hearing it to release his bowels, causing a brown stain in their underpants. The Mythbusters even dedicated a show to it and were unable to reproduce the legendary results. As an aging raver/clubber and current volunteer EMT I have first-hand knowledge that there is some sort of phenomenon that, given the correct circ…

From many moons ago (all two years of 'em) ... there any copies of the DC Holdout giveaway floating around (electronic or hardcopy) or have I just completely missed the boat on that one? I couldn't find info in a search.

Okay, it's not really stupid. To my mind, the only truly stupid questions are, "May I ask a stupid question?" and, "About how long was the Hundred Years' War?" But this is something I feel like I should know from good sense, or know where to look up in one of the published books, but don't. The question is: would a conventional firearm (pistol, rifle, whatever) work in a vacuum?

NCM is not a permited disad in this campeign, the characters are expected to be within HCM but going over NCM is apropriate for most characters in one or more characteristics A point system based on the resource points system in 5th edition DC will be in use, however military tech is the starting level for it, buing up from basic level is not allowed The first character for review is SSgt Michael Freeman Mike to his friends grew up in Mississippi, at 18 to pay for college he joined the USMC, where he works as a mechanic in the motor pool. During his time in he has learned to box. His large size (Stands 6'4", and weighs in at 283 lbs) and natural talent a…

Saw an ad yesterday that Taser International now offers video camera attachments for Tasers. A great idea in RL, as a defense against the ubiquitous "I was just sitting there minding my own business when the mean officer zapped me for no reason" claims. (As well as increasing accountability if an officer does misuse one.) Anyway I got bored, so gamer-geek that I am I had to write it up (based on the Taser example on p262 of DC): Although as long as we're on the subject, I've never been terribly happy with DC's take on Tasers anyway. While I have never shot or been shot with one, I have seen demos and talked to people on both ends of the wire; Tasers don't real…

I saw this mentioned on Bulletproof (Discovery Channel) and then found this video: http://www.break.com/movies/newarmor23.html There's also this businessweek article: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_32/b3996068.htm Looks very cool. No performance data yet, but they seem to imply that it will be useful against rifle rounds, implying that this will be about 12-13 DEF. The video only shows a pistol round, but that still puts it at 8-9 DEF. One interesting comment was the talk about making clothing out of it. I assume the clothing wouldn't be as strong as the torso armor in order to remain flexible, but I can imagine this putting 4-6 DEF on all…

Hi everyone. Below is a character I was going to play in a World of Darkness game that never got off the ground. I decided to design Ameiko before her "event" so that hopefully she'll feel a little more real. This is just a rought draft with a reall shortened background and history. Please feel free to make comments, thanks! Background/History (shortened): Ameiko Minoru is of Japanese descent. Her father was a highly decorated officer before being shot dead in the line of duty when she was 15. At that point Ameiko, a devout Catholic, had been considering joining a nunnery despite a talent for the martial arts which her sensei felt would have made her a serious …

For all you gun experts. Antique Shotgun Is this a percussion cap shotgun? It looks a little like it to me but I've not found a date for it yet so I'm not sure. Thanks.

I am posting this in the Dark Champions thread since this seems to be where most of my fellow gun bunnies hang out. Anybody happy (like me) that the latest issue of the American Rifleman says the US military is going readopt the .45 caliber pistol as its standard side arm. Apparently the 9mm has been disappointing. While the 9mm has better penetration but it lacks stopping power. If you want to penetrate something you'll use a rifle anyway. The US Military has decided that stopping power is more important. The decision has been made to open bidding for a new .45 ACP Joint Combat Pistol. Apparently the US Military is looking to purchase up to 649,000 of which ever .45…

There is a ton of information on bullet balistics, penetration, balistic gel tests for various rounds/loads, etc. Is there anything on arrows... specifically on the unique damage to a human body done by an arrow? I know a four inch penetration through armor was usually considered a "kill" and not just a wound... but I'm thinking that was due more to poor medical aid rather than "insta-kill." What I'm interested in is the kind of damage an arrow (think broadhead hunting tip or the long, pointed pile arrow as two main types of damage). How does penetration and damage compare to say, a 9mm round? What is the damage done trying to remove the arrow (sans silk sh…
