Gotham City, New Jersey exists in mamy realities. In this one, the Waynes had a daughter, Barbara, not a son. Additionally, they had a maid and butler to care for their mansion. Their daughter, Marie, became Barbara's maid. The two girls were best friends as they grew up. They loved watching Westerns and dressing up like cowgirls. One fateful night, they stood together and watched in shock as Barbara's parents were murdered. Later that night, with only God and Marie as witnesses, Barbara pledged her life to the fight against crime. In the years that followed, while Marie learned about caring for Wayne Manor and Barbara's clothes and appearance, Barbara tra…

Gotham City is the county seat of Gotham County, which is the Southern half of Ocean County. Gotham Bay is Little Egg Harbor. It's about six miles from there, across the Intracoastal Waterway, to Beach Haven Inlet. The inlet is marked by Beach Haven Inlet Lighthouse. After the Coast Guard called the light unusable, the Wayne Foundation bought and repaired and renovated it. The Principal Keeper's house, with its attached tower, was then leased to the Gotham County Port Authority for $1.00 per year and the house once shared by the First and Second Assistant Keepers was leased to the Gotham County Historical Society for the same price. The Historical Society has co…

Every bat-hero needs a secret lair. More often than not, it's some kind of Batcave. Batgirl's lair holds vehicles, a workshop, a crime lab, training facilities, a library, computer and communications gear, a trophy room, emergency equipment and supplies, and power, water, sewage, security, and ventilation systems. There also has to be places for Batgirl and her associates to change into either their costumes or whatever disguise they plan to wear. Batgirl is planning to form a team to help her protect Gotham City and request federal sanction for it. The new team members must have a method to access the Batcave that doesn't go through Barbara's house and the f…

The Fox and Vixen are a team of cat burglars. Although they dress in black from head to toe, and knock out, bind and gag their victims before stealing valuables, security tapes have caught them in action. Their movements are graceful enough for them to be referred to as the Fred Astaire anf Ginger Rogers of cat burglars. Both are soft-spoken and polite. The Fox acts like David Niven in The Pink Panther. Vixen acts like a Southern belle. They don't kill and do as little property damage as possible. Their silenced pistols carry knockout darts. The Fox is belived to be 6 feet tall. Vixen is to be 5 foot 6 inches tall and curvy.

Well, I've gone and done it. I've started ANOTHER game with a long-time gaming-buddy at Hero Central. I'm not sure if you'd call it Dark Champions or use the Moniker I've coined above. The premise is a normal world until the 'Defining Moment' occurs. Chernobyl is the event we've decided to use becuase of the era it occurs in and nothing more. Certain individuals alive and born after are able to use something in the changed atmosphere that gives them the stratum of paranormal powers. The campaign is a BYOGM game and only the two of us currently plan on playing. Both characters are built on 350-375 points, but we use the low-supers range of levels for Damage Classes, R…

With the release of DC coming on us soon, and with some of us looking at the playtest version currently, I thought it might be interesting to start a thread on specifically Dark Champions campaigns some of us have run in the past, and some of the elements that made them memorable. So how 'bout it?

... no, it's not a typo. "Unknow" is the lead character in Roberto "Magnus" Raviola's "Lo Sconosciuto", an action/espionage comic first published in 1975. I confess I'm a big fan of Magnus, an amazingly complete and versatile artist. Since this is the tenth anniversary of his death, I resolved to make some HERO conversions of his comics' characters. In case you want to know more about Magnus' work, here's a few pages with English content: Wikipedia article on Magnus Wikipedia article on "Lo Sconosciuto" CAVEAT: Since part of Magnus' work was erotic in nature, the following links might be NOT SAFE FOR WORK. A Magnus tribute Magnus Official Page …

Has anyone else read the Sleeper series by Ed Brunbaker? I think it would make a great campaign. It would be a sort of Iron Age Champions/Dark Champions. Basically, the stories take place in the dark underbelly of the Wildstorm universe. You have characters crossing over form W.I.L.D.C.A.T.S and Team 7, but they don't usually have a direct role in events. The "hero" is a guy under deep cover as a supervillian in a VIPER-like organization. The storyline basically involves his internal struggle with the morality of his actions as he commits crimes and acts of terrorism in the interest of the greater good. Most of the supers are low to medium powered. The intern…

There's a thread over on RPG.net where people are PhotoShop-ing up movie posters for RPGs. This simple one for DC was particularly cool. The power of good art...

I saw a link to this map on RPG.net. It is a map of the London Underground and rail system but all the names are anagrams. It could see some funky use in a DC game. Anagram Map

It seems to me that Piercing should be an advantage. It modifies other attacks but when I was reading Dark Champions last night it is listed as an attack and a special power. Actually it is probably better looked at as an adder, no? Why am I not getting this? --Pete

Pardon my ignorance, perhaps you can help me? Are the exotic rounds in Dark Champions readily available for normal people in the US.? Would they be available in a Cyberpunk type future? Is there somewhere I could get more commercial info on these bullets? Thanks in advance. Al

Barrett has come up with a new cartridge to get around the California .50 caliber ban! The shortened the case of a .50 caliber, and necked it down to .416. It throws a two inch long, 400 grain solid brass SHARP pointed bullet with a Ballistic coefficient of above .92 at 3250 fps! Apparently it is still supersonic at something like 2500 meters. In lesser news, Apparently Armalite and DPMS are going to build AR-15s in 6.5grendel. Kel-tec, who builds one of the ultimate hideout guns in the P3AT, has just brought out a 9mm hideout, it is only .88 inches thick, and iirc weighs about 12 ounces empty.

How would you guys use the President of the United States in a campaign? Is it possible to use him in such a way that he is actually a character who matters to the story? The President is a popular backer for characters, but what would it do to the campaign is the President was for some reason an adversary of the PCs? And what would a group of PCs have to do to attract the personal attention and enmity of the most powerful man on Earth? How does it change the campaign is the Presdient is evil and/or mad?

Think you have a cool vehicle idea? Check out the Stilleto! http://www.oft.osd.mil/library/library_files/trends_375_Transformation_Trends_7_December_2004_Issue.pdf This long document has many very interesting items in it. It talks about the Wolf PAC concept that SOCOM is experiementing with. It also talks about a new vessel that is on display today at a highlevel SOCOM conference. The Stilleto is a medium sized ship with a supercomputer in it. Its very configurable for multiple missions. It has the 11 man RIF boat onboard to transport the team to their missions and its stealth! Pretty cool? It has multiple, not talked about and probably classified ca…

I am often lurking about in those hidden places where dark and evil supplements are discussed. I started to email a link to Edsel our Dark Champions gamemaster and thought to myself why not share with the whole Dark Champions forum. If you know of some cool new RPG game enhancers feel free to unload 'em here. 12 to Midnight thier products are also available on RPGnow ** I have no affiliation other than doing an occassional review.

From http://www.notrly.com/jackbauer/ 1. After the Fall, Jack Bauer quipped "Better to reign in CTU than serve in division." His wit appreciated, Bauer received the honor of murdering Chapelle as a reward. 2. God created the universe in 6 days. That’s 5 days 23 hours and 59 minutes longer than it took Jack Bauer to create God. 3. To prove a point, Jack Bauer lit Schindler’s actual list on fire. 4. The Drill Sergeant speech in "Full Metal Jacket," was actually based on Jack Bauer's first communion poetry reading. 5. Hector Salazar was the only person to survive (temporarily) after having received one of Jack's false "I give you my word" ass…

Okay, first I'm going to to explain how I can be so ignorant. I have to confess, the last Hero products I bought were FREd, and Ultimate Martial Artist, right when they came out and DOJ had bought Hero Games and had effected the Ressurrection and all was good. Then the Gods decided it was a good idea to pick up my life, shake it vigorously, toss it around, and finally leave it upside down in a corner, half shatterred. As I recall I did manage to hang on here for a while (with borrowed internet access) but finally that came to an end too, and I only came back to the boards within the last few months. I found this forum called "Dark Champions" and from casua…

Good morning. I've been chewing over this idea quite a bit, as always happens with me I have too many imaginations for one to hold them all, so I'm going to post some initial thoughts I have here on building my NWO for Giant Robots. Influences: I grew up playing Battletech as my first real "board game" that I didn't hate - this is because it involves guns and (wait for it...) Giant Robots. Who doesn't love Giant Robots? There's a very gritty feel to that world which I've rarely found replicated elsewhere. The other game that I loved to play on my PC was Heavy Gear II, possibly one of the greatest examples of how Giant Robots can be stealthy ever. I've al…
