Scooby-Doo Cthulhu resource guide Pretty funny stuff! Since Horror Hero isn't out I figure this fits here better than in the other places. I think the Mystery Machine needs rockets and a twin .50 though. ;-) --Pete

My recent internet hiatus got me thinking (well, watching) about using TV or Cinema inspired campaign settings for a Dark Champions game. Of course, who would restrain their diet to one simple entrée when there are so many good ones to sample? 1. Buffyverse — Vampires, Demons, and other weirdness at the hellmouth (I have only seen season 1). 2. Charmed — witches, white-lighters, demons, and a score of other infernal creatures (my wife watches it). 3. The 4400 — psychic powers, governments here to “protect you,†and people from the future. Now then, what other shows would work? Once I get a good list of candidates, I may try to kit-bash t…

Hello everyone, recently watched Equillibrium again and was thinking... how would you represent something like the Gun Kata skills? Would you make good use of skills and combat options or would you use powers? I'd love to see how you'd represent it, as I like some of the concepts therein, and it makes for great visuals in any case. I tried the powers route for a Champions game via Energy Blast, Radius, No Range, Hole in the Middle... OAF, Gestures. =) I'd like a better way of doing it if possible.

why, you ask, would an anime comedy go in the DC forum? Genre; it's a cop show. I am trying to write up the cast of You're Under Arrest, the Kajishima series about the lives and loves of Tokyo policewomen at a preceint full of eccentrics. There are some things that have been easy to model, but some are a bit tougher. so i thought i would ask for help, especially regarding super-skills. some examples of abilities that fall under those headings: Miyuki's ability to take anything that has wheels and an engine and make it perform far beyond its normal capacity (she's even souped up her partner's moped, and I have a hard time imagining how one could do that…

Attached is an Acrobat document that I have been working on. It is a three page set of rules and three pages of cards for doing car chases in Hero System using a system adapted from Spycraft 2.0 by AEG. I did these in order to try and improve the car chase rules for use in my own Dark Champions campaign. That means that this conversion is specifically intended to be used with cars and motorcycles. With some work I imagine it could be modifed for use with other forms of transportation. While I built it with Dark Champions in mind I think it would work equally well with Pulp Hero. I have not playtested these rules yet. In fact I have barely proof read them. Since …

This thread is tied to "More Bat-tyness", the URL of which is http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43505. Catwoman, Selina Kyle, is one of Batman's best-known foes. Her origin's changed, as has her costume. However, in most cases, she's a cat burglar who also does good things and has a crush on Batman. Our universe's Catwoman is a bit different. She was caught breaking into a mad scientist's lab by one of his henchmen and taken before the scientist himself. Deciding that the burglar would make a wonderful test subject, he removed her jacket and webbing, then injected her with something. "What are you doing?" she snarled as he positioned a …

Hello all, New here but not to the HERO system. I'm no veteran by any means but was hoping to get a little advice from those who've been doing it for a bit. I am planning to start a new Dark Champions game that I call "The Unremarkables". The game is designed a low power, street level game that takes place in yoru typical Hell's Kitchen/Sin City/Gotham sort of place. The characters are all people who, no explainable reason, exhibit minor paranormal abilities. These are not freaky sewer mutants or victims of toxic waste, escaped robots or even minor demons on holiday in da' hood, but people who, for all medical intents and purposes, are quite unremarkable…

I'm hoping those familiar with guns more than I (which is most of you). Not near my books, so don't know if the M-82 Sniper Rifle is in there, but anyone have a writeup for one? Also, more importantly, anyone have a good picture (I found lots of mediocre and bad pictures on the net) of one, prefereably on a white or other neutral background? And finally, I don't suppose anyone has a 3D-Model of one that's useable in Poser, Bryce or other similar programs, preferably an OBJ file.

Right now, I am wracking my brain for some sort of name for his crimefighting persona. So far all I have is "Reroute," for how he takes the drugs off the street so that they can only hurt himself and no one else. However, I'm open to suggestions, especially ones that invoke conotations of philosphy, or ironic justice. Anything that ties in to his education and his perception of how he is a "dark" champion. Ed Warrinbough was not your average college student. He was an exceptional college student, earning high marks in all of his classes, participating in a wide array of extracurricular activities and clubs. A member of the SGA, president of the Honor Council, and a f…

I need a gang. The gang needs to be a real gang. The gang can be of mixed ethnicity as long as the gang includes caucasians in its ethnic mix. The gang can be an all female or all male gang... in fact if I could get an all female and an all male gang, I'd be very happy. I do not want the gang to be a white supremecy group. And finally, I don't want it to be the Bloods or the Crips. The gang is most likely going to be one fabricated or transported to Northern California. All of attempts to find a real, California based gang that matched the conditions above failed. Thank you so very much for your help.

C'mon, people, I know you've all seen Unbreakable. I know you've read the Dark Knight graphic novel and paged through Watchmen. You may even have glanced at The Sandman collection. And I know you wouldn't be cruising this forum if the street-level struggle to bring hope out of hopelessness didn't appeal to you down on some shadowy level of your soul. In Arkana City, hell is called the Barrows. Things are bad there, but what's worse is that some Barrows-dwellers consider damnation business as usual. Innocent is another word for victim, and trust is for fools and dead men. Hope is barely a memory. You'd have to be crazy -- or damned yourself -- to try and make a…

I posted this in champs as well, but the character is in someways very DC, so thought I would post it here as well This is the character I have been playing for a while, wanted your thoughts on it History/Background: David Roberts early life was not that unusual, growing up in (Name of City Here). His father was a cop, his mother worked at a local teen shelter as a teacher (the shelter kept a single teacher on as a tutor); he also had two younger brothers, Kevin and John. His father would take him down to the shooting range every week, where John proved to be remarkable; within a day or two of practice he would hit the bulls-eye at least 9 out of 10 times. …

This is not set in the main DC Comics Universe. There was neither plague, nor earthquake. The "No Man's Land" incident never occurred. There is no Bludhaven. Jim Gordon is still police commissioner. The DOE doesn't exist, but PRIMUS does, mainly because I think the agency is cool. PRIMUS doesn't have a branch office in Gotham City, however Intelligence Agent Cameron Chase is stationed in the city to keep an eye on Batman. She doesn't know who he is, but she's impressed by him. The last Robin, Stephanie Brown was killed by a thug moments after Batman fired her. Batman took the thug down. Harold, whose full name is Harold Allnut, wasn't killed by H…

I am currently putting together a spread sheet to use as a quick reference for landmarks and services, shopping and "on the Town" locations by neighbourhoods. I am using Microsoft Excel for it and wonder if anyone has something like that for the NPC's of Hudson City or done this before. I know Hero Games personnel are on the site often. If you have any ideas, suggestions or restrictions on such a spreadsheet, I would like to hear. If you would like a copy, talk to me and I will wait until I hear from Hero Games on if I can spread it around. I would like to trade it for maybe a spreadsheet on NPCs in Hudson as that will be my next project. Thanks for any id…

Greeting again, In developing my setting for "The Unremarkables" I found myself asking, "how much do I really need to do up front to make this work well?" More specifically, how many and what sort of NPCs are good to have fleshed out before even attempting to run such a game? Now some of this may be answered in the Dark Champions book but, alas, I do not have it and am operating mostly on core rule books at this time. I was wondering what other have done and what sort of NPCs and denizens they had ready at the beginning. Also, I am running this game on a seriously tight budget, so any online or even personal resources that might have some material I could u…

Hi, Hudson City is so large that I am working on putting it in some spreadsheets for Microsoft Excel. I am wondering if anyone has done this before and would be interested in sharing their work. I am doing all the businesses and landmarks by neighbourhood and will do all the NPC by name, location and organization as I work in it. I am also thinking of page numbers so I can find them easily. How does everyone else handle this?

We just started up in a new Dark Champions Campaign set in HC and run by Edsel. Characters are built on 50 + 50 with upto 5 experience points for a good background. We have typically run 75 + 75 so the shift in SPD and CVs still has us guessing a bit. Anyway, here is my character [A downgraded version of a one shot character].
