Astronomers have discovered the primary world of some alien life that exists in some scifi story, be it ST, SW, B5, Farscape, or essentially any other scifi. The only catch is that this is the real world and real astronomy with real equipment and scientists, nothing fantastic or using terms and technology that does not actually exist. I've had the Terran Empire book for years and just now read it. I like the idea of the setting, but there are a lot of decisions made in the book that don't make a lot of sense. Does anyone actually use it or know about it, though? Would it be worth trying to have a discussion to hash them out?

By 'ancients', I mean people my own age, really. I've spent a lot of time reading old forum posts lately. There is a wealth of really interesting and amazing content. I've been using the 'search' feature and then working my way through dozens or even hundreds of pages of old posts. I've been particularly interested in conversions from other SF RPGs and original designs for cyberware and bioware, weapons, armor, battlesuits and mecha. One problem though is dead links. How can you reasonably reflect the amount of knowledge held by an AI with Eidetic Memory (or a PC, for that matter)? Trying to account for all the different areas of knowledge they've been exposed to, or could have researched during non-adventuring time, rapidly becomes a huge hole to pour points into. The typical way of doing Tractor Beams for starships seems to be Telekinesis, and that does seem to fit the bill pretty well. But it gets expensive, especially if you're trying to make one strong enough to hold another ship from getting away. What do you guys think about doing a crude tractor beam as Clinging, with the Ranged advantage and the limitation that once it is activated the relative positions between the two vehicles cannot be changed. You have to turn off the power, make the adjustments to relative positions, then turn the power back on again. I want there to be some "weight" to hauling around the large supplies of food, so the crew PCs see the effects of improvements in food technologies. At low technology a year's food supply for 25 people is a fairly substantial investment of ship space, while higher technologies would feed more people using less space and for a longer period of time. "Weight" in this case ties to the Active and Real point costs, and I'm having a hard time tying mechanics back to the SFX because Life Support: Need not Eat costs 3 points and lasts forever. I've been working on a complete ruleset for running a Star Wars game in the Hero system. The way I see it there are two difficult problems to solve which each hit one of the key points of the setting: a good system for the Force (done), and a good system for spaceships (my current issue). You might wonder what's the problem, the rules for building out vehicles are pretty clear so just use them. While true, I find them insufficient. As those of you who care are aware, I was assassinated for a bit, but I'm feeling better now. I have been using my _very scant_ spare time during my assassination to rework Robot Warriors. (Like Chris G, I have a deep love for that game). Now that we have Champions Complete and Fantasy Hero Complete, is it time for Star Hero Complete? My gaming group is starting a GURPS 3rd edition Space Opera campaign and even though I and the GM are GURPS players from the 90s, I'd prefer if we were playing with Star Hero.
