Know this is a 4th edition question. But with the passing of Scott Bennie been going through my VIPER sourcebook When it comes to Mind Control: single command (like Gila whose command is "Stop" or "Don't Move", but assuming others like Mother Medusa as well) How long does the command "last" once it's "inflicted" on the target? Thank You

Millenium City, p.16, Shadowboxer. He has an "Energy Punch", HA +8d6 (verses ED). Under RAW for 5E, does that add to his Boxing MA Maneuvers? Does that change under 6E? Follow-up question: Again under RAW, does the Energy Punch change the entire attack to verses ED?

Got a question about these a Forcewall and NND (or its equivalent in 6th). If a hero has a Forcewall up and a villain shoots a NND attack (Def: Power Def) at the hero, does the Forcewall protect and stop the NND or does the NND ignore the protective Forcewall and continue on to hit the hero? It's been awhile.

Despite how disjointed the name sounds, there is a method to my madness. How would you describe an attack (think an orange-sized ball of electricity) that travels at a walking pace (about 6m per phase) in a straight line toward its target, but is unaffected by (and does not affect) any material obstacles... unless they are conductive metal? It could casually pass through a mountain to hit its target, but chicken wire would cause it to pop. I think Indirect for the avoiding of barriers, but how would you do the slow advance?

Sometimes ya get inspiration in the darndest places. I recently found a d20 conversion for Ghostbusters, so I figured it was time for one, or at last the beginnings of one for the HERO system. Base Assumptions: Teleportation (as described on HSP 334 as the Versatile Teleportation option) is a "spell" that can be learned in the campaign world (don't worry about the points) and requires a skill roll to perform successfully. Barring GM fiat, how would one describe in game terms a defined area (Area of Effect) that both improves the casting roll slightly and makes the Teleport cost a bit less END?

I was just thinking about a thought character whose Aid power could be resisted, and always be resisted, by Power Defense (something it normally cannot be used to resist the power). That got me thinking...should there be levels beyond Rare? Well... Extra Rare: The power is only resistance to a given situation, and the chances that the power is resisted against are unlikely, but not impossible, to appear. The character could presumably encounter one or two people immune to that power in his lifetime (if he is unlucky). Undefensable: (STOP SIGN!!!) There is no defense for this power. Not sure there are any clear, strong use cases for this, but... What would people think about Selective Invis. Like Selective Desolid, Selective Invis allows the character to leave certain parts visible, at discretion. Now, unlike Selective Desolid, there isn't a compelling reason to do so, but it feels like it may have some useful deception aspects. I don't think it should be a *big* advantage, but it does feel like maybe a smaller one. +1/4? +1/2? Can't see it any larger than +1/2.

Okay, so the effect I'm trying to simulate here is a character who can be effectively "immune" to metal. It's not selective, so if they are "immune", then NO metal affects them at all -- steel swords pass through them, but so does metal armor, and wooden clubs work fine. They can walk through the hull of a battleship, but if the paint on the side was thick enough, they would have to cut it away. How would y'all do that? I mean, Desolid is the easiest, but then you have to throw Affects Physical World (+2) on everything, and that sucks. It's not that you're really Desolid, just kinda. Thoughts?

There is a thread and the original poster wants to decide if he wants to say make his right hand visable by choice if he desides to become invisible. And what advantage or adder could allow him to do that if he wishes. We say you can already do it without using an adder or advantage. So, what is the official word on this?

So, the idea is for an attack that sends the targets "straight to hell"(a random location thereto). XDM(single group of related dimensions(Infernal Realms), Usable as Attack(stopped by magic force fields, having xdm or teleportation powers, power defense or a "pure soul"), x64 mass(if it's necessary under the rules), AoE 8 meter radius. Is that rules legal? I think the above is 125 active points, a lot less if the extra mass multiples aren't necessary. "Sends to random location" seems like it could be a -1 limitation or a wash, since you can't use it to travel effectively to hell, but you also have a harder time recovering those sent thereto. …

Why does purchasing END in a END Reserve cost more than purchasing normal END? This does not make sense to me because one of the most common reasons for purchasing an END Reserve is to create a large battery that multiple powers draw off of. A classic example would be a power suit that can operate for reasonable amount of time, but when it runs out of energy can no longer power the systems. Often they only way to recharge the battery is by plugging it in. This type of reserve is not practical anymore. Noticed in Ultimate Vehicle page 65 that Cruise Ships buy Lifeboats as Vehicles Vehicles buying Vehicles ... so really character only paying 1/25th the cost is that correct? It would seem it be reasonable for vehicle to buy another vehicle at inflated prices like 1 for 1 for other vehicles, with +25 points to double number of vehicles. Sorry if I posting something that may have be posted before, just a quick search was not coming up with anything.

I'm trying to track down where the Positive Reputation Perk first appeared, and where the Talents Absolute Range Sense and Combat Luck first appeared. As far as I've been able to tell, they all first appeared in the original release of the 5e rulebook. Is that correct, or did they appear somewhere before that (perhaps with different names)?

In the HSR 1, the rules suggest a method of healing flash attacks; that is, using the Healing power to cure someone who has been flashed. Now, I like the idea of being able to do this but... this is a godawful deal. For 10 points you can maybe remove 2 segments of flash? Really?? This is just way too expensive for way too little effect for a really obscure, possibly never-used ability in the history of Hero. Is 1 for 1 really so unreasonable? Its twice as expensive as the effect (5 points per d6 flash) and how often is this even going to be purchased?

Ok so I have a female supervillain for a four color super comics campaign who is based on the Greek Goddess EOS, the goddess of the Dawn. She had an affair with Ares the God of War which angered Aphrodite the Goddess of Love so she was cursed by Aphrodite. Eos was made to have an insatiable lust for new dalliances with men but could never have any relationship beyond a short time. So the idea is that this goddess character has a supervillain power that is a metaphor for an evil woman that is hot and sexy and can charm men who the uses them and leaves them destitute or miserable because she can never find true love which of course is Aphrodite's fault. …

So my concept is a magic quiver for a set of crossbow bolts or arrows that never runs out of arrows. While the quiver will recreate arrows as needed this is in sense reloading the clip and takes extra time once the quiver is out. So for instance I say the quiver has eight arrows. Each round as part of your half phase you can pull an arrow from the quiver and fire an arrow just fine. Once you fire the last arrow however the quiver does not automatically reload and instead of the arrows just magically appearing the character has to engage the quiver to reload the it taking a full phase just like reloading a clip. Ok so I am envisioning a power that allows a mentalist to insert his mind into a person while they are dreaming and essentially taking over the dream in the characters head and replacing it with their own mental illusion. I am thinking that this is a full mental illusions power whereby the mentalist can control elements of the dreams from cosmetic changes to completely reorientating the complete mental landscape and recreating every element of the dream so from +0 to +30 effects. Back in April, someone posted "Hero System Fourth Edition Errata", version 2017-04-16. I can't find that post (and the person who created the document didn't put his or her name or contact information in it), but after I took the time yesterday to check all the editions of the 4e rules to see how they vary I wanted to share my results. I've done some searching but haven't been able to find the answer as to why the costs of REC and END went down in 6e. It's easy to see why former primary characteristics were decreased in cost, but I can't figure out why these former secondary characteristics would have been decreased in cost. Anyone have the inside scoop from back when 6e was in the planning/design stage?
