Even when I create my own documents I like to mirror the fonts in products. It is reason I was wondering what fonts were used in Champions Complete and 6E core books?

I'm trying to make an attack that has a chance of activating off of other attacks (similar to Main Gauche from World of Warcraft). Is this possible or no dice?

I was doing some searching on the internet and somehow I came across these two items that I never knew existed. It's probably old news to some of you (since it is technically old news). But I found the information quite interesting. The first link is an article articulating highlights/lowlights of the history of the Hero System. The second link is a thread dedicated to discussing the Hero 4th Edition (BBB). The Age Of Hero Hero Lets Read The Big Blue Book

Call me cheesy, but I've always gotten a kick out of the "thanks to" and "playtester" sections at the start of the older books. You know the kind of stuff, Brad "exploding nipples" Lebowski, Janet "He was dead when I got here, officer" Mercer, etc. So I thought it would be jolly (and in my case, illuminating) if anyone mentioned in said books, or with background knowledge of the play testing, could explain the meaning of the nicknames. As an aside, if you were mentioned in a book by the name of your character from playtesting, tell us about you character, and any anecdotes!

Just out of curiosity, is there a file or book that lists every power, advantage, limitation, adder, etc. in the various books as well as where to find them? I keep finding references to such things (usually advantage and limitations) and I have no idea where to find the definition for them Thank you

So I'm somewhat of a Hero System completist, and I noticed that I don't own Hero System Equipment Guide. Sell me on it. The description in the store is non-specific. I get that there's *lots* of write-ups. Is it possible to get a peek at the TOC? How many firearms are in the book? And so on.

So, I was wondering while driving, which I often do, what if we change the appearance of OCV and DCV. Your OFFENSE would be effectively by 11+OCV. The target's DEFENSE would be DCV + 3d6. If your defense is lower than the attackers offense, you are hit. Example: PC has a hero called Prayer with a OCV 8 and DCV 8. GM has a OCV 7 and DCV 7. PC: "I attack God Monster. I have an offense of 19." GM: Rolls 3d6 = 10 or 10+7 = 17. "Prayer hits. Roll damage" GM: "God Monster is peeved. He attempts to attack Prayer." PC: The player rolls an 8 on 3d6. "I have a defensive value of 16." GM: "God Monster hits you." Wou…

I'm thinking of creating a villain who can cause a blast of fire from underneath a hero that shoots upward, starting from the ground level. Reasonably, there should be a limitation of how high the fire will go, whether 20 feet, 50 feet, 100 feet, etc. Yes, the villain can cause it almost anywhere, but of course, not on or under water. What do you think the limitation would be on the power?

Does anyone have the players declare their actions from slowest to fastest on the Speed Chart? Not actually taking their actions, just declaring them to sort of simulate the effect of faster characters vs slower characters.

I'm curious why Perception is based on INT. I don't see the correlation. I mean, someone who is stupid doesn't seem to be less aware of his environment as someone who is brilliant. Actually, high intelligence is arguably a distraction from perceiving one's environment. Consider even the stereotypes of the oblivious genius professor vs. the dumb giant who can nevertheless smell "the blood of an Englishman." The problems with linking PER with INT becomes especially noticeable when it comes to animals, which often have great perception compared with more intelligent humans. Thus, I propose that PER be based on either CON or DEX. The argument for using CON is that a red…

Something occurred to me while in the shower: what if you could use Absorption to work on powers that are not attacks. As in, Absorption used as an Attack vs, say movement on the target. Every time they move, you get END. It opens up a huge range of interesting options and curious builds in my mind. Your strength only feeds my force field!

Hi everyone. My friends and I are going to start a new superhero campaign using Hero System. Now, one of the characters wants to create a hero who absorbs and reflect attacks and enemies. For example, he bites into an electrical cable and can then fire an electricity bolt, he is shot with bullets and can then send bullets back. Are all of these just Reflection or should it be created by linking the attacks to absorption?

I'm trying to build magic/mystic powers into tattoos that have some preparation required and at the same time have some limits to their uses...that are either temporary, or too steep a cost to continue with. Building persistent powers into this idea has proven tough for me, as the idea is that the are woven or inserted into the tattoo, then expended later. Instants are fine, build with a few charges. Constant are fine as the require END and you don't want to use them forever. However Characteristics as Powers and Resistant are both giving me a hard time to model well. I'm using restrainable (-1/4) for the tattoos as they don't fit an OIF or IIF, and there's a couple …

Hi to all, I would like to build (if possible) a manuver to simulate what in escrima we call gunting (scissors, basically)it is a special block (so it should have the feature "abort") combined whit a movement (like a scissors) of the "other hand" aimed to hit the arm of the opponent and to damage it. Is there in your opinion a legal way to introduce it in the hero system 6th. To be noted that an exemple of this manuver can be found in third season of Cobra kai... It is the technique that chozen teaches to Daniel Larusso to defeat Krees.

Good day. I am currently writing up a Xianxia game (Chinese Fantasy). It is a progession fantasy game where the characters progress through ranks of power. For simplity there are 9 Ranks 1 to 9 with people having a innate advantage over those below them and if their is more than two levels of difference you are pretty much going to be unable to do anything unless you have a special item or technique to offset this. This is not a power but just an innate quality that every being has access to. In the past I have used Fate and used Scales to represent the difference meaning that you get a bonus or penalty relating to the difference in S…

Hello Herodom, Has anyone written up the aforementioned Dragon Staff? Resplendent Dragon is found in UMA 4th but is also mention in Thrilling Places. The Staff it self isn’t so much a problem but I’m considering how to write up the Master of the Staff ability. So a Master can hit you twice in one Phase with the staff being in 4th it is recommended that this ability is either a larger Attack with Red Pen. to represent the 2 hits or Autofire. Since I’m going to use it in 6th, I’m thinking of using Two Weapon fighting Skill. Yes technically it’s one weapon but special effects and all that. Oh and I’m looking at Heroic level if that makes a difference. Th…

I want to run a wilderness campaign, where players are traveling constantly throught unknow territories, visiting ancient ruins of the pre-cataclysm civilization, fight with bandit organizations, unknow beasts and another kind of dangers. I am GMing a Hero System game over the internet. The game hasnt started yet, and ive been going through each person in dms to get their characters done without a session 0 or the like. None of my players have played the hero system before. Essentially, I am making this character's stats for a player, with a lot of input on the mechanics of how they work through special effects, but not really the actual rules/stats, thats the part I have a question about. Potentially questionable GM decision aside, I need help with how to represent this character's existence through the game's rules. The character isnt human, instead being a shell like helmet. Within the helmet …

Hey all, I'm playing in a 5th edition campaign where the "grab" or "martial grab" combat maneuver has become the norm for many characters. The 5E rules on grabbing are pretty vague on whether or not a grabbed character is able to move. There is a mention of using movement to break a grab (2" movement = 1 pt STR), but there's not much detail beyond that. So we're trying to iron out whether or not a grabbed character can move via running, leaping or flight and drag the grabber with them. Does the grabbed character have to break free of the grab before they can move? If they have sufficient strength to lift a person are they able to move and drag the grabber along for t…

Hello everyone!. I'm making a fantasy heroic-based campaign, and i want to make 2 extra characteristics: Reaction and Perception. These are my reasons: - First: i want to make dexterity to cost 1 character point each, and determine de reaction speed of characters with a brand new stat: Reaction (REA) (1 character point each). This stats will be used to determine turn orders, and to make reaction rolls, wich determines who make actions first in roleplay situations, or determines how fast a character respond to surprise events. - Second i want to make the Perception (PER) as a separate Characteristic, because i want to make perception-based characters (Werebeast, f…
