Unless I'm mistaken, errata only exists for the core rule books. No errata documents exist for all the other books. I find it very disappointing that this is still the case after all these years. If you look at every other reputable gaming company, they provide errata for all of their products. I own the hardback Volumes 1 and 2 but not the PDFs. Did they at least fix the errata in the PDF version of the core rules?

Hello Everyone, I am thinking of an advantage for the swinging power. Essentially the power requires an anchor point above the character for him to latch onto in order to work. Therefore, in a treeless flat Savanna or Prairie Swinging does not work. This is simply a function of how the power works. So, what if you have a character that used force energy in whiplike cords (so that the power could be bought with the advantage of not being affected by barriers, etc.) that the character could also make attached to points in the sky through magnetic force. The energy coils can latch onto the points and thus swing the character. Alternati…

So I've constructed a dwarven street fighting style....going from the assumption that carpenters and masons would use the tools at hand, it has weapon elements for clubs, maces, hammers and fist loads. An expert in the style takes weapon master for all the weapons and the martial art - 20 pt version for +3DCs. Now its a lot cheaper to take +3 DCs from martial arts for 4pts / DC, and those three DCs apply +15 STR to disarms, escapes and grabs. Since the same weapons are weapon elements of the MA, the +3 DCs also apply to the weapons. So this gets more application for 12 pts than the 20 for weapon master. Did I make a mistake, or is this just an example of s…

5th Edition Is it okay to mix Martial arts types in the same style? Specifically, could you have a mostly physical style with a few ranged maneuvers? Could you have a Mental style with a few physical maneuvers? I don't see any examples, but I don't see any direct prohibitions. I realise this can be GM call territory, I am just curious if there is specific restrictions I missed.

This is mostly a reality check, I hope. In teleportation that has Usable As Attack, the source point is the attacker, and the destination is wherever. The power I'm considering is apportation...something/someone remote is teleported *to me*. The power is otherwise a mirror for the most part: the range is whatever you buy it as; you still need to perceive the person or object to be teleported with a targeting sense...I'm inclined to say that the "blind teleport into an area" doesn't apply, as this feels like it's inherently more precise; mass limits apply; and an unwilling person as the target would still require UAA. The target a…

So, right, I was walking the dogs and thought, “why do we do characteristic rolls for Strength differently to all the other characteristic rolls?" Do go check, but instead of 9+CHAR/5 it is roll STR/5 as damage and count Body. I like that. Very Hero. So, that got me thinking, why don’t we do that for everything? Stealth check? DEX/5 + skill levels rolled as damage dice and count Body against a difficulty determined by the GM or the characteristics of an opponent Example: Dexterity 15 character with +1 in Stealth rolls 4d6 and counts Body to sneak past the 10 Intelligence guard. Use INT/5 (2) as the difficulty – should be easy in no…

Here is a weird take but I am not sure how to cost the limitations. I have a Clairsentience bought for Normal sight, normal hearing and smell. The character spends 90 points total for the power but 25 of that is for x32 range. It also includes a mobile perception point for 5 and x8 movement speed for 20. I assume the mobile is added to base so range is 65 *10 x32 or 20.8km (20800m). The sensor point moves at 12 x 8 or 96m meaning it takes 216&2/3 phases to get from his starting point to the end of his range. No Range is a -1/2L however the sensor can move to the entire range it just takes a long time and dismissing the sensor…

So, I was walking the dogs and I got to thinking about movement powers. Well, Tig ran after a squirrel and one thing led to another… I’m working on something but it is a bit of a chunky one so I thought I’d break it down to a series of discussion points. Here goes… Why do Flight and Running cost the same? Flight starts at 0m rather than 12m, but so what? Blast starts at zero and Strength starts at 10 but we don’t see that as levelling the playing field. Flight has a turn mode, but so what? The last time I bothered using a turn mode in actual combat was in the 1980s, because, by and large, I’m not running combat on maps. …

I'm unclear on exactly what can and can't be used in a combined attack. The rules state you can use 2 or more powers as long as they are not combat/martial maneuvers. But as far as I can tell all attacks use a combat maneuver, which is either a strike or in the "other" category under combat maneuvers in Chapter 3. Could a dragon, for example, use 2 claws and a bite as a combined attack? The Hero System Bestiary seems to imply that monsters only use multiple attack, since combined attack is never mentioned in the general monster rules (only multiple attack is mentioned). I also find it strange that you only use one attack roll in a combined attack, meaning all attacks…

Hi there everyone. Short-time lurker, first time poster. I am planning on running not one but two Hero System 6e campaigns in the coming months, both of them in different high fantasy settings. Something I'd like to be able to do in them is allow my players to acquire magic items much like they might expect to in Dungeons & Dragons, while trying to keep in mind the difference in feel caused by using the Hero System (or any points-based power-based system, for that matter) I've read through the item creation rules in Fantasy Hero, and the idea of just paying character points to get a new power in the form of a magic item seems redundant. On the other hand, …

Qiuick background. I was 4th edition player. I got back into Champions about 2 years ago as the Game Master. I have helped about a dozen newbies create character as best I can with my past knowledge. I have just gotten a character that wants to use Density Increase. I am finding it very Over Powered! 4 cp for +5 Str +1 PD +1 ED -2m KB and increased mass. If bought seperately that is 9cp. I did several searches to find any past discussion on this to no result. I had gotten the impression that 6e was meant to balance out the power inequities. Was there an errata I have not found? or is this really how it was meant to be? Thank you Kevin

I currently run DnD 5E and Savage Worlds games for various folks. If I wanted to try out the Hero system for a fantasy themed game, what would be the best edition for that?

So I have a character I am giving a set of spells. They exist as ectoplasmic matrixes in the ethereal plane. In my world the ethereal prime is a duplicate of the material prime real world with carbon ethereal versions of every object in the material. Sentient creatures have souls that are tethered to their bodies which while alive can't be moved from that place. Animals and objects however through great psychic disturbances from ghosts, powerful spells however can meaning that in the ethereal astral constructs can exist that do not have exact carbon copy duplicates in the material. Any rate these spells are bought with the limitation restrainable at the …

One of the more interesting powers is Desolidification. With this power, one can travel through solid materials as though they don't exist, most attacks ignore them, along with a host of other advantages. Many individuals have created several creative ways to use this power beyond the basic ability, such as the well defined phase-strkie or locking others in the ground. What are some rather unique options that you have developed for your games? How have these characters played out in both the long and short term? Other comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Has anyone had an issue on 6th Ed really of the (minor) changes with the Str Min? Was looking at the gun table in Dark Champions (5th) and was curious about that.

Okay, the long-timers here know that I've got an on-again, off-again project of cataloguing all the HERO and HERO-compatible products (and sometimes just advertising) whose existence I can confirm. I started by simply cataloguing my own collection as a possible resource for other collectors, and it's grown a bit from there. In preparation for Chris G's trip to the east coast, I went rummaging around for some ideas on how to celebrate, and I realized that I had a set of Champions miniatures that I had never actually opened-- so yeah; we're going to rip into that when he arrives. At any rate, it hit me that I had never entered the miniatures into t…

For a hypothetical VPP (60 pt pool + 60 pt control; Magic/Psychic Powers Only (-0)), how would you value a Limitation like this: only attack powers can go to 60 AP, all other powers (Defense, Movement, Sensory, Miscellaneous) cap at 30 AP TIA for the help.

Thought I would present this again. It's a bit more polished and less complex. I really wish this forum supported tables.

I noticed we've been getting a lot of new people trickling in to Hero System. I thought it would be nice to introduce each other and I have put together a list of questions I thought would help. Some questions are hero related but others just general questions I could think of. Enjoy 🙂 Why your username? -We are nothing but specks in time and space Why your avatar or if no avatar why not -I am Marvin the Martian fan What area do you live in? -I moved from Detroit to Tampa recently What's your profession? -I'm in IT/Cybersecurity (I think most of us are IT geeks here :)) Are you Windows, MAC or Linux? -W…

Abort to Drain? 1 2

Here's a cool visual. The gadgeteer Inventory throws a grenade at the vile villain Rust. Rust is aware of the attack. He aborts to Drain, reducing the grenade to inert ash before it strikes him. I think it falls under this bit from 6E2 23. How would you react, especially if I narrated it accurately? Because he Aborted, he loses his next phase. Or... should he have to use Drain before Inventory ever throws the damn thing? "Use of any other Maneuver, activation/use of any other Power, or performing any other Action deemed by the GM to be primarily for purposes of defending or protecting the character." Keep in mind that I am Forever GM of my group.

What do y’all think a DragonBall/anime power up would be like? Xd6 Aid, Self Only, Extra Time (full or half phase)? Compound Power with characteristics and defenses that’s on charges? Ive been watching Dragonball Super again and this thought keeps percolating. Seems to me that a power up would take at least half a phase, increase characteristics, defenses and maybe other stuff... and be able to be done more than once and thus stack. How would you build it?

Here are the house rules I created based on our discussion on spirit based attacks damaging EGO and not BODY. They are still raw but I put some effort into them and took notes from your brainstorming. I have three more pages hopefully the program will let me reply three times to post them. Enjoy! Some attacks directly affect the Spirit of a target and do not cause physical damage to the target's body. Examples of this are secret martial arts techniques that use simple touching of the target in the points of the body that affect the flow of chi which can cause the victim to keel over as if hit by a Mack truck even though there is no mark on the victim excep…

Hello! I have had characters designed for me and played before, but I am trying to make a character myself for the first time. I am making an Idol, someone super famous and positively well known. Super hero Identity is the Idol, but has a personal secret identity that lacks confidence. So massive presence, but only uses it in "Character.". My question is, besides building a high presence and some striking appearance, what could I do with a charismatic character? Not wanting to intimidate. Wanting to be a very positive encouraging hero.
