... or more specifically, just which if any writers would you folks suggest as the ones NOT to use as inspiration? I.e., who are the worst comic book writers? Thanks, FenrisUlf

I am not Canadian, so if anything here is blaringly wrong, please educate me... Background: The man who would become known as FALCON's story starts with his Grandfather (the father of his father). Randal Ritter was a member of the Mounties, as his father, and his father's father had been. After his wife died he retired to a cabin in the wilderness of central canada (The closest town was approximatly 60 miles away, a trip he made about once a week in the summer to once a month in the winter). No TV, a small battery operated radio, a old record player, and a vast library of books was all he had for entertainment. His only son Jack had years earlier ignored…

Kinda related to the "Whos the baddest Mutha in your campaign" post. I was wondering what type of villian scares your group or you the most when the fight begins? For my group, hands down its the Egoist. The second is a villian with an area effect entangle. Anybody else??

Hi all, In my opinion, one of the more interesting NPC types is the cat burglar. A cat can be anyone from a punk breaking into a house to a master burglar that steals only for hire. A cat can also be a reformed burglar who now helps heroes. A cat can also be an intelligence agent that either burglarizes on occasion or one that does only that. Some private detectives and heroes in Dark Champions campaigns arso commit burglaries either to gather evidence or plant bugs or recover something that was stolen. You're challenged to create a burglar or post one that you have created. Meow. Yours, Mark Rand

Anyone have any villains/groups/story arcs that seem to doom any campaign you try to bring them into? It doesn't even have to be a visible link between them, but whenever you introduce X to the game, SOMETHING happens and campaign dies off?

I'm looking at starting a Champs campaign for a small group of friends -- me as the GM and three players. Two of the players have no experience with table-top RPG'ing, so I'd like to keep things as simple as possible for these new players -- I don't want to intimidate them with an overabundance of complicated math. Obviously I'll be doing most of the character-building for them, but I'm looking for some suggestions on what else I can do to help bring the new players in slow and easy. My ideas so far: 1. Ignore END. It's one of the things I dislike in Champs, that a superhero can be completely exhausted after a 24-second fight. We'll probably forget all about END…

I could use some suggestions from you experienced GM's. My current RP group consists of experience Hero Gamers. When we finished our last (200 pt super-spy) campaign, we decided to do a more traditional, 400pt Supers campaign to take advantage of the great supplements (shameless plug) such as Champions and Millenium City. When the players designed their characters--all interesting, as I expected--they didn't create what you'd call a traditional superhero team. Think PrimalForce or Shadow Cabinet if you ever read those shortlived DC books. I need some help directed adventures that suit the group. I'm not really willing to have them re-do their characters in…

Costumes, naturally... (at least I hope so) but what sort of costumes? What colors do you find yourself favoring? Do you like the old stand bys like letters or symbols on the chest? Are your character's costumes 'risque'? If so, how much? Just tight, or do they make Halle Berry's new Catwoman costume look classy by comparison? What is your character hoping to achieve with his costume? Protecting Secret ID. Drawing attention to him/herself? For stealth? (Hello dark colors) Protection? I get the feeling the answer will be that people vary costumes depending on who the character is; which is fair. Still, I have seen on these boards comments and dicus…

I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any Champions writeups existing anywhere for Dryada or Honeybee (two of the super- heroine characters from the Cardboard Heroes super- hero set)? I know about a writeup for Honeybee on the Morpheus Unbound website, but I seem to remember having seen a write- up for Dryada somewhere before, but I'm not sure where. Any input on this topic would be appreciated. Space Cadet

Another thread mentioned a very, very lame change being made in an upcoming Super-Hero film to a character with a 60 year history. The change may be being made to save cash on special effects. It occurs to me that as GMs, we too must work within our special effects budget. So, some ideas for really cheap villains: 1) The Toupe! 60 Pre, 12d6 reputation as Earth's Deadliest Villain, bought through an iif: Toupe. He makes very convincing threats, then runs away in the confusion. 2) Doctor Meme: The heroes are encouraged to attribute everything, absolutely everything, to a villain that never actually shows up in the adventure. 3) Dark Bob: Use Fire…

First chracther is RedCap (someone can have readed about her) Second chracther i'm thinked is Twinergy, a girl who can duplicate in two d…

Sorta first post. I responded to some stuff in the past, but this is my first topic. I'd just like to run these character ideas by some people. The setting is a kind of high-powered magic-oriented world. People with superpowers are the result of either magical mutations or they have access to powerful technology. The characters in question are normally elite members of the local military. However, I eventually intend to use them in an alternate timeline kinda story arc as evil generals. They are both magic-mutants, mutants basically. They are a brother and sister duo. The boy is called Dynamo, and is capable of producing almost unlimited energy. The girl is ca…

There's a 1960s "misunderstood" superhero called Hornet There's a villain in CKC called Hornet The leader of Mexico's VIPER nest is called The Hornet (El Crabajon or whatever it is - don't have my sourcebook with me at work). Coincidence, conspiracy or cock-up (proof-readers) ? Is there a story behind this ? What do you think ?

Say folks, I could use a little creative input if you'd be so kind: As part of working the Crowns of Krim into my campaign, I'm trying to develop interesting stories for the creation of each of the Crowns - not the characters, but the artifacts themselves. I want them to be fashioned by followers of Krim under his direction, out of rare materials or under extraordinary circumstances. For example, the Shining Crown was fashioned from gold flowing molten from an active volcano; the Stone Crown was carved out of the roots of the highest mountain in the world; the Blood Crown is copper mined from beneath a great battlefield; while the Iron Crown was once a link from a …

Hi, my friends and I are converting from the d20 system over to the Hero System. We've decided that we really like the system, but we haven't managed to find firm ground on which to stand... The system is very flexible...too flexible, even. We don't know where to start as far as building a setting or genre... The players understand the basics of the rules, and have constructed thier characters, but even this step did not go smoothly. Each player needed to be guided individualy by myself, the person who is currently the most rules-fluent. Each seemed to be leaning towards a different genre...and worst of all I fear that thier statistics are chunky and forced. …

Which of the Champions has a back story that just doesn't work for you? How would you change it? Witchcraft as cynical bad girl trying to do good? Ironclad as Obsidian? Nighthawk as Foxbat? Thoughts?

I am trying to put together a new campaign. The idea is pretty much taken from the way psi's are treated on Earth in Babylon 5. So here it is.... Super powers have have only began emerging with in the last 20 years. The government immdiately began studying these "gifted" individuals and soon developed a serium that would suppress powers, but leave the person feeling empty inside. Each birth now includes a scan for potential abilities. If a positive response is found, then the parents are responsible for bringing the child in for regular "checkups" to see if the abilities are becoming active. If or when abilities become active, then there is a choice to be made. Take …
