Okay, college football fans, here's a little fun for the holidays! In the post below, you'll see listings for all 40 of this year's bowl games, including the Championship Game. Your mission: copy & paste or otherwise recreate the list, and identify who you think will win each game. As a tiebreaker, predict the total points scored in the Championship Game. Winner is the person who picks the most games correctly. That's it! Pretty simple, no? All right, let's do this!

There’s video of a couple of guys going after that bastard in London. Attacking someone wearing a suicide vest. One was barehanded, the second armed only with a fire extinguisher and the third with and I swear to God....a Narwhale Tusk!!!! Forget capes and masks, this is an origin!!! “Somebody get this man a Shield!!!!”

Pariah has just won the lottery!* After telling his student loan company to get bent, he has decided to use his vast wealth to finance a new superhero movie franchise based on Champions. Which heroes (and/or villains) make the cut, and what actors portray them? -- *Not really. It's just a hypothetical situation.

With the news that someidiotone wants to do a remake of "The Princess Bride" (and other properties in the pipeline), the hubby & I got to thinking if there are any valid reasons why a movie/TV show/comic should be redone. And we came up with 3 possible options. 1. The original sucked/box office bomb 2. A new take -- say the original was silly and the remake does it seriously straight 3. SFX technology has advanced to the point that Things Can Be Done Better. For myself, I'd want a remake of "The Avengers" -- the 90's attempt at the classic British series with Emma Peel & John Steed.

Lucius Alexander's Yule Essay: 2017 An open letter to a number of interested parties. (This is an essay I revise periodically) You CAN Just Say No to Christmas. I do. You do have a choice. December is a time of traditions. I usually choose not to participate in most of them. But even so I have my onset-of-winter, end-of-calendar-year traditions, and digging out and updating this essay seems to have become one of them. It seems appropriate to quote from something Andrew Sullivan said in 2005 : “Since…most solstice festivals are ultimately about cyclical renewal and resurrection, I have no real qualms about just reiterati…

As I age like fine wine, I've decided to venture forth from my dark palace to stretch my bony hand to claim new lands beyond the Flaeness. Turned 50 today, and went to a strange land I have never seen before with my brother to celebrate myself, the misty kingdom of Seattle. Very cool city. You Washington based HERO-philes are lucky folks. I hit the market yesterday after I arrived, had a lovely fish and chips at Ivar's, now I'm off to do touristy stuff.

I legitimately wonder what science scientists are working on in Star Wars. Many many people have said that there is no scientific progression in Star Wars; but I don’t believe that. Scientist characters are featured in stories and surely they must be doing something! That something is never revealed but I can’t help but speculate. I think they probably know what dark matter and dark energy are since Starkiller Base is powered by it. They probably know what the full size of the universe is, how it started, how it will end and why their is more matter than anti-matter. They obviously know the origin of consciousness and how to create it since they have “sentient” droid…

Hello again! As you might recall from last year... ... I do a bit of fiction writing. The second book of the series, a full length novel, is on sale now. Remember Them (Remember The Trade Book 2) The man who became his cover identity is back in action! He had to become someone new in time to be sent on a mission he was ideal for: taking in a team to ferret out a secret Cuban plot in West Africa. But has the identity of David Cox really been put to rest? Remember Them brings the details and dirty work of covert missions to the forefront, an espionage thriller where clandestine violence and disposable identities combine. You know all about…

Hey all, As some of you may know, I run a website called Embrace Your Geekness and at that website, we have a Hall of Fame. We do a poll every year where we at EYG nominate several items, people, characters, movies etc and the top vote getters are inducted into the EYG Hall of Fame. This is the EYG Hero Games NGD Award that we do every year (this is the fourth year for this award) How this works: I am looking for nominations from the community of NGD for the best comic book artists or comic book writers of all time. I would ask that you nominate those creators who you think have done enough work that they…

S.W.A.T. (2017- ) Jim Street's hair. The original S.W.A.T. was an entertaining Aaron Spelling TV show, a spin off The Rookies. One of the characters was Jim Street, handsome and heroic played by Robert Urich who would go on to star in about a dozen TV shows along with various guest starring roles, movies, and mini-series. The character was played by Colin Farrell in the 2004 Motion Picture, so you know he was important to the plot. The current incarnation, besides looking like he's either in his fifties or has meth for breakfast, has a hair style that can only be explained if his parents were garden gnomes. It looks like h…

Intended as point/counterpoint to Cassandra's "Where Modern TV Series Have Jumped The Shark" thread, this thread discusses when things really came together for a television series. It talks about when a series started to really go right. The allusion, obviously, is to when Commander Will Riker started Season Two of Star Trek: The Next Generation with his now-iconic beard. Season One of ST:TNG was, frankly, mostly awful. Sure, there were a few good episodes amongst the thinly-veiled Original Series remakes, the ham-handed political commentaries, the exploits of Wesley Crusher, and the ludicrous attempts to establish the Ferengi as serious villains. But the seri…
