The Article At Movieweb I had hoped this would happen someday. I had heard Superman Returns described as a "love letter" to the first two Superman movies, and that was one love letter I was proud to sign--with a little heart dotting the "I" in my name and a bunch if XXs and OOs afterwards. Now if they can get Michael Keaton to put on the Bat-suit again, we're really gonna have a party.

full disclosure: Never have been a Star Wars fan. Thought the very first one was fun, if extremely goofy, and like most people, was amazed at the effects (I'm old enough that I watched it in the theater as an adult; nothing I had ever seen before had effects like that). In fact, I am such a not-fan that I thought "Rogue One" was quite possibly the best Star Wars movie ever made, and was the "prequel" that fans actually deserved, in as much as it was an actual prequel and was consistent to the first movie. All that being said, I've got a question that was put into mind in the very first (or the second, maybe?) movie, and thirty five years of movie…

Terrible thread title, sorry. And it's technically game related just because it's probably going to influence theme/plot ideas for a supers game. Anyway, if you're thinking more adult super hero stuff, to avoid saying "edgy" or "dark" because I think they may be self limiting in some cases, but just supers stories for adults, what do you like to see?

I need a check on something. It’s almost 3 am and I’m not sure if this was really funny, I’m really tired or am I a complete swine for laughing at this. There was a commercial on about an online service to purchase the kind of feminine products you only need once a month. The selling point of the service is that you can choose from many different type of items to get a one of a kind selection. When the announcer referred to this as “You can customize your box” I laughed myself silly for about five minutes.

So I'm about a third of the way through season 6 of Game of Thrones and I heard a line of dialogue that completely took me out of the story. In truth, it was only the most recent example of the language anachronisms that are absolutely littered throughout the show. Remember when a Starbucks cup made it into a shot and made global headlines? Well, the linguistic equivalent was when Cersei said, and I quote: "Give us the room." Now I realize that the "common tongue of Westeros" is being translated into contemporary English for our benefit, but this is not the way to do it IMO. Tolkien did the same thing in his Middle Earth stories, but he never resor…

Just what it says on the title, what songs in superhero movies have been your favorite ? I'm not talking purely instrumental or orchestral music (Though there are some great ones of those)) as they get plenty of praise. But song have you heard (Perhaps for the first time) in a superhero movie, and be it original or a cover, you just fell in love with it even if the movie itself was meh? I can say right now, my favorite song in a superhero movie (and it was a GOOD superhero movie) is Vindicated by Dashboard Confessional in Spider-Man 2. You can tell it was made for the movie, but wow, the words really stuck a chord with me. They still do. But…

Hyperman, who is a good friend of mine IRL, was admitted to the hospital on Thursday. Since then, he has had surgery and is doing much better. He will likely be transferred to physical therapy in the next day or two. He asked me to let everyone here know because he isn't really able to type at the moment, but we expect he will be back soon.

Very sorry for the delay, this last week was on me, but RL has it's kicks so there ya go. First, a big shout out to everyone who joined in! The demands I made were stupid, arbitrary, and entirely self serving... Our contestants are... Ah, who am I kidding, I'm barely in the running this time around The Planet What Got Blowed up: Nibiru (The 5 Protagonists) The Farmer: BlackHawk The Old Coot: Prospero the wizard from Shakesp…

It's no secret that the Comics Industry is in a steep decline. DC Comics new owners, AT&T< seem to think the same way. As they are pruning former Time Warner Inc. properties, from Niche straming channels to Mad Magazine. Forbes has opined on it. https://www.forbes.com/sites/robsalkowitz/2019/07/31/where-does-dc-fit-in-atts-vision-for-warnermedia/#26bd664b79b7 Expanding on this was Clownfish TV, speculating on a near term end of the "Direct market" and the demise of both Marvel and DC. This is not to say the form, is dead, it's just that the Corporations are no longer willing to subsidize a money losing proposition, and will just retain the IP …

I'm a fan of a fanfiction novel called "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" see hpmor.com Anyway, the book features Harry skipping Quidditch in favor of wargames. I decided to make replicas of the team patches for my brother, and it was fun enough I made a kickstarter to see if anybody else wanted some. So far it is going down in flames, but I wanted to show off my work anyway.

According to AOL news today the city of San Francisco will now be referring to convicted felons “Justice Involved Persons”. Sometimes the tide of politically correct butchering of language has me in mind of 1984’s new-speak The idea that calling the guy who pushed an old lady down in the street breaking her hip so he could steal the rent money out of her purse a little easier a nicer name will make him a better person is insane. I like the word we used to have for people like these...scumbag. This is like when your’re watching the news and a reporter refers to someone, either victim or perpetrator as “an urban youth”. Once everyone knows what the cod…

A new thread for a new season seems appropriate, don't you think? Anyway, the show's been moved to a later hour--it's at 9 PM Eastern, 8 PM Central, and so on as you head west. So be sure to set your Tivos, DVRs, DVD-Rs, VCRs, wax cylinder recorders, or hire animation artists to draw up highly detailed flipbooks of the episode. Or you could watch the broadcast as it airs, like people used to in the oldentime days. Dare to be square. If it's good enough for Phil Coulson, it should be good enough for the rest of us.

I was watching Terminator 2 on cable and had noticed something. The answer might have been in the original version of the film and just been edited out but... in the first film Reese says that only flesh & blood can go thru the time jump. That’s why you have to go though naked. The T1 could do it since his metal and electronics were wrapped in flesh. So how did the other all metal Terminators do it? I know this group could come up I with a dozen ways to get around this, but I’m wondering if it was ever explained in the films.
