Palm Software Hero Diceroller?
by Guest quix0te- 5 replies

I am having a hard time making my games flow quickly. Part of the problem is (dont laugh) my players cant count dice quickly. Its like watching special ed kids when they try and figure out how much stun and body they did. Is there a palm OS program that does hero dice rolling, including tabulating body? I would also really like it if the program could be modified to a second function that did 1d6-1 stun, and did 1 body on a 1 through 4, and 2 body on a 5 or 6. The killing attack damage drives me nuts with its randomness, so I settled on this as an alternate damage system for KA's. They do a lot more body than normal attacks, but less stun.

Greetings, all. In trying to create a cyberpunkish character, I wanted him to have guns which had some electronics mounted on them, which, when connected to his internal computer, could display targetting information on a heads-up display (the same effect could be obtained with appropriate goggles for non-chipped users). This is pretty obviously just some combat skill levels, maybe some penalty skill levels for range. I can think of three obvious ways to model this: Skill levels, only usable with smartlinked guns, restrainable/OAF (as appropriate). This is unsatisfying because the gun writeup won't reflect their special nature. Skill levels built into …

I am building a character who fires a "buckshot" of blades. If only one target is in the zone, they will get hit multiple times. If anything is in the hex, they will probably get hit too. I am thinking RKA autofire, and one hex AF. What effect will those two powers have together?

One of the self styled wizards in my group would like to create a portable extradimensional space in which he can carry around tons of useful equipment and posssibly an animal ... or ten... This item will probably either be the classc D&D portable hole OR it may take the form of a nice purple top hat (which gets my vote for style)... Regardless of that, how would you go about constructing such a magic item? He was thinking some kind of OAF Xdim movement effect, but I was thinking perhaps an OAF gadget/summon pool would be better? Ideas?

Was there ever such a thing called "HERO-Lite"? I seem to recall some simplified for-beginers publication of the Hero System rules called Hero Lite or something like that. Only I can't seem to find any such thing. Was I dreaming? Am I hallucinating? Did it just get up and walk away while I had my back turned?

Okay I have been working on the "Official" Way of doing Astral Travel in my game, I figured I would start with a "Novice Spell of Astral Travel" and work up from there, so please critique: 20 Clairsentience (sight) +5 Hearing +5 Mobile Perception Point ---- 30 Base Points -0 1 20 Minute Continuing Charge, recoverable -1 1/2 0 DCV Concentration with Not aware of suroundings -1/4 Perception point can be detected and attacked by appropriate Attack, Body and DEF =AP/5, Stun equal to AP 11 Points

I thought it was you but I am not sure. Are you the one who created the ER? I am not sure were to add Overall Levels? are they added to everything from DCV to OCV or are they added to some place in particular?

Would like to here about which articles or better yet which issues people really liked - and of course why. I don't feel like just buying all of them but also am overly-cautious in buying them. Thanks.

Okay, I just asked Steve for a work around, but want to know: 1) Why is there a limit on targeting with Clairsentience? I would imagine Game Play Issues, however many F/X become more chalanging do to this limitation. A clasic bit of fantasy literature is when the wizard looks in his crystal ball and is a ble to cast spells through it... 2) What would be the ramifications to droping this limitation (HOWEVER, the power must still come from the individual, so it would not add Indirect to the power)

Lets take a second look at Desolidification. For starters… I do not like and have never liked the all or nothing way that Desolidification works. In a game based on the idea there are no absolutes we are given an absolute. So what I would like to do is show you guys (and ladies for pc sake) how I would like it done. And ask if any of you have done something different with Desolidification and what did you do? Changes: 1) No longer all or nothing instead it is level based like every thing else. 2) Change its classification from “Standard†to “Defense†power. 3) Remove the “Affected By†inherent limitation. 4) Create a damage reducing aspect to …

I've been pondering how to build something. In all truth its the sort of thing I normally hand-wave and declare "plot device" over, but every so often my long dormant, but virulently potent munchkin-master blood gets pumping. I've been pondering how to build something. How to change the phase of the moon from a game mechanics perspective. In my PBEM vampire game one of the clan's has brought in their Justicar, a force of about 40 archons, and some other big guns, to wipe out a group of anathema (three methuselahs and an abomination who has drunk the blood of an antediluvian). The anathema have werewolf allies (anitaverse style shapeshifters) so the vampires i…

I was looking at the on-line store and wanted to see what people had to say about some of the e-books. I have only gotten into Hero System with the 5th edition. Awsome system and I am looking for more info. The question is how are the following e-books and how which ones are from 4th edition and what are the high points and low points of each book. Finally, do any of you know if these books are going to be printed. Also, how do these books compare the traditional print value when it comes to quality? The following books are: Kazei 5 Shades of Black The Kandris Seal PRIMUS Ultimate Super Mage Thanks

Lets say I want an EB or RKA (or another damage based attack power). For SFX my power calls on the "All Force" and is every energy type. It will affect any Susceptibility or Vulnerability to any energy type. Conversely it can be Adjusted as a power of any energy type. Any of the minor SFX-based tricks that other characters with energy powers can do, I can do because my power is of that energy type too. Should I have to pay for this behavior or does it balance out? Personally, I think egregiously broad SFX like this should cost, perhaps +1/4 for 3 or more SFX, and +1/2 for broad SFX (like all energy forms, all magic types, etc). Thoughts?

Just a quick example here to see if I've got the right idea. Let's say I want to make a naked advantage that let's you make a power of up to 20 active points armor piercing, once per day. Armor Piercing (+1/2) adds 10 points to a 20 point power. So we start with 10 points. 1 charge per day is (-2), so I divide the 10 points above by 3. Rounding off, this would be worth 3 real points. Am I doing this right? (I know right can be a very relative term in this system )

Damage Shield Abuse 1 2 3

Over in another thread we have been talking about the big arguments, one that comes up over and over again is Damage Shield being over priced (I think everyone agrees with this, or at least the VAST majority) Now on to the "Why" questions Why was it changed (And yes it was changed), what abuses did people see in the old system (+1/2). Second Question, I have heard MANY people say that there house rule is to make it a flat +1, my question is "Do you feel that it is actualy equal to a NND attack, and if so why?"

I posted this on the Rules Question board before I read the part about how only Mr. Long could answer those. Oops. Therefore, I'm going to post here, in the hopes of getting thoughts from more people. I’m relatively new to non-Fusion Champions. I was reading the 5th Edition book, I ran into something that sparked a question. I was hoping that some of you veterans who own everything Hero could answer it. After reading the 5th edition book’s definition of Indirect, it’s clear that it does not work for creating tube artillery and similar attacks. An artillery shell arcs over top of a wall, missing it entirely. Therefore, it doesn’t matt…

this is my first time posting (atleast i think it is, i only just made this account) and for a good reason. All you out there are Hero's fans. I hope all of you also have experience withit (i prefere to not assume, but if you look above i did with the fan bit). So, i have been playing these things (RPGs that is) for 14 years now, over half my life, great that. And have become dis-enchanted with Palladium's clunky system, FASA's (though FASA is no gone, leaving a Wizkid in their place) odd sense of RPing (no offense to be taken, just my opinion) and the current incarnation of D&D (and then tyhere are those dark days of White Wolf and so many others it drives me craz…

Havin' trouble with an idea, here. I'm goin' with a pheromone/charisma type character, and I want him to be harder to hit, and I want the attacker to maybe not hit as hard, all because "it just doesn't seem right". Extra DCV and Damage Reduction seem the order of the day, but I'm not sure how to simulate the fact that it's based on whether the attacker can overcome the urge to NOT hit the character, or NOT hit them as hard. Between having a cold and not having the book I'm comin' up with NOTHIN'. Help, obvious or otherwise, would be appreciated.

I was just flipping through the skill pages. And paused to look at "High Society". How do you guy's handle this? It looks like an amalgam of several other Knowlege and Proffesion skills. It mentions, for example, knowledge of who's who among the aristocracy, as well as their sundry relations with each other. Um, shouldn't that be "People knowledge: Members of the Aristocracy"? If High society can cover things like that, what other proffesion skills could it include? Winetasting? Familiarity with the High Arts? Ballroom Dance? Polo? Roulette? Carried to an extreme, Fencing and Pistol Dueling?

I'm a mean GM, apparently, for disallowing a PC to have an Entangle that uses non-STR CHA to get out of (ie: Entangle vs INT). Has anyone actually allowed this?

Compared to GURPS the fifth edition of the HERO System is quite new on the arena. The HERO system has done a really good job in trying to catch up, but doing all the books I want for my campaigns takes time, and I hate to wait, so I some questions for you. How easy is it to use GURPS material in the HERO System? The inspirational material should work just as good, so there isn’t much need talking about that, but the rest? Do I need the GURPS Basic Set to convert the world books to HERO, or is it just as easy to use the books without the Basic Set? Can you recommend some interesting GURPS book that cover stuff that isn’t covered by existing HERO books? …

Okay, I have a question for you HEROphiles out there, any advice will be appreciated! As those who read the NGD and General Roleplaying boards should be aware, HERO system is pretty new to me! I sat my players down tonight after our regular session and had them vote on what they would like me to run for the "next big campaign", from three different campaign ideas. "Robot HERO" was the result. The concept, essentially, is a high-tech post apocalyptic sci-fi universe. The game is set shortly after a massive war which has devastated many worlds as well as much of the structure of interstellar society itself. Many of the ground battles were fought by powerful artifi…

I could almost swear that I've seen this written or discussed somewhere, but I've searched thru the FAQs, thru several of my Hero books, and the forums themselves. If what I'm speaking of is there, I missed it, likely because I was searching too hard. What am I speaking of? I vaguely remember someone writing up a 'tar baby' power, wherein when Hero A Hits Villain B (who has this Tar Baby power), Hero A's fist is now stuck to Villain B. The question is: how does one write up this power? Start with Grab? Start with Entangle? Sticky? No range? Trigger? Has anyone seen this, or did I just have a dream about it?

I am going to be working on a project, Simply put a summary of all the rules that have been Added sense 5th edition came out. Now I call on the masses of Hero Assembled to help me compile the different rules, so if you could please tell me what books have what new rules. Example: Star Hero provides additional adder "Mobile Perception Point" to the Clairsentience power I am not looking for a description of the additional rules, while page numbers would be nice. I am also not looking for things that are campeign rules or guidelines (IE Allowing martial artists to double there leaping) Any help would be appreciated, when I am done I will submit…
