I just saw an eposide of the latest Batman animated series on Cartoon Network. The plot involved the scarecrow using a gas that made people immune to any kind of fear, and used it on Batman. Once he was gassed, he no longer had the fear of the conciquences of killing badguys. This just didn't seem right to me. The only reason he didn't off a few badguys is because Robin steped in to stop him. Was this just a crazy animated script, or is this mentality also shown in some Batman issues that I haven't read? Xmen Campaign 1 2

Ok after watching X2 I really want to get a Hero campaign going. The people I'm playing with are new to the hero system only playing it for less than a year. I've run FH, 40K Hero and we're doing a Star Wars campaign now. I want to get a superhero campaign going and have decide the easiest thing to do for them is to run a x-men campaign. The players are not familiar with Champions. The closest they have come is my supervillian campaign. Here's some of the background for the x-men run 1)All the PCs will be existing xmen, however they will all be 14-18. Much as the new cartoon 2)Prof X, Beast & Wolverine will be NPCs and teachers. 3)Not sure if I'll …

If Only Usable in Hero ID is a -1/4 Limitation, then what would be a suitable level of Limitation for not being able to use an ability or skill in your superpowered ID that you can in your non-superpowered one? I am thinking that -1/4 may still be appropriate, but I'm not sure.

I was a little skeptical when I was expecting it to be "just" a laundry list of Powers, but now that I finally have it in my hot little hands, I have to say that this little gem has dethroned CCK as my favorite Champions book. The art, layout, and usefulness are dramatically improved over the other Champs products (IMHO). And the text is surprisingly engaging for such a utilitarian volumn. The gimmick of the numerous "in-character" sidebars with UNTIL folks discussing various CU characters was an inspired choice. Good show, all!

Hey guys I am looking to make a luck based character and could use some help/input. I have the basics covered I think. The idea is that his stats will be pretty normal just you’re average Joe, but real… real… REAL lucky. Here are the ideas that I have come up with, let me know if I have missed some (and I am sure I have) Also if this is a thread that has been covered somewhere else please let me know, I did a couple of searches but didn’t come up with much. Ok off we go: 1) Levels with DCV/OCV my Dex is low… but somehow I hit. 2) Find weakness with a particular attack 3) Dex drain area effect selective (just an idea) 4) KA only vs…

Disadvantages and Multi-Powers Dumb Question number 525,938 Can you take Disadvantages on a multi-powers for changing slots? The player wants to put -1/2 Extra Time 1/2 Phase to change Multi-Power slot. And because of that another question came up about putting an Activation Roll on changing slots in a Multi-Power. Thoughts?

Evildude fires his mystics bolts of bleah at Superfastguy. Superfastguy vanishes before the blasts hit him then reappears in the same spot (+DCV, special effect, teleport). Superfastguy runs towards Evildude. Halfway there, he jumps in the air and vanishes, only to reappear 3 stories above Evildude as his sword slash goes home. As a single phase, how would you create this attack? You could use teleport, but going invisible halfway through and then reappearing? (fringe?) I don't have the book in front of me so I don't recall if Teleport 'velocity' could be used as a move through anyway...perhaps I could add dice based upon falling dista…

Anyone have any suggestions on how to do a group Teleport? Basically ,the super-mage of the team transports the entire team back to the base. I'm thinking area effect teleport..usable on others..selective target. I have 60 active points to work with. Any Hero wizards want to take a stab at making this power? Rob

Just curious as to whether anyone else has "timelined" an upcoming campaign. Inspired by "Champions Universe", I decided to try one for my new game and found that it not only set a tone for the game but, it also set up tons of plot threads. Here's what I have so far...... Jan 5th, 1935: History Professor/Scientist Dr. Thaddeus Grayscale comes back in time from the year 3050 to make history “more interestingâ€. He injects the Grayscale Device into the earth’s core, thus generating the Grayscale effect*. May 21st, 1938: Icon makes his first public appearance as he prevents the Brooklyn Bridge from collapsing. Oct. 30th, 1938: Dr. Thadde…

Hello everyone, I just wanted to announce my new game and let everyone see how things worked my first session. I am going to eventually start a website for this game, and am going to try and document each session. First off, regardless of the title of this thread, we haven't established a name yet. The game is set up group oriented, so we established a theme for the group. I'll start telling you the history, but since my players read here also, I will only be telling as much as they know as well. In the 1960's Viper came into existence. Shortly after that a new hero came onto the scene in Detroit named the Ghost. The Ghost was an occult based detective, who use…

I need an exclamation/quote. Something like "Holy Moly!" or "Jumpin' Jehosaphat!", but original. Something appropriate to a Golden Age, partiot character.

I an effort to flesh out my campaign's timeline, I noticed a glaring gap in a hero team in the 70s. Fondly remembering my childhood (I'm an old-timer), I pulled out some of the comics of my youth, specifically the Defenders and the Champions. One thing both teams seemed to have in common were that their lineups were so weird. The core Defenders were Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Namor and the Hulk (with Nighthawk and Valkyrie joining soon after). The Champions were even stranger: Ghost Rider, Hercules, Black Widow, Angel (in one of the worst costumes of all time), Beast and later Black Goliath. In putting together my team, using the above two as models, I determin…

Good news! I got a couple more neat and nifty new powers last night, and I had some time this morning to prepare 'em for the Online USPD, as well as to create one myself. So that's three more for ya -- one each for Fire, Precog, and Solar/Celestial powers.

So I'm playing this Standard Superheroic character with a 45-point "Elemental Magic" VPP. I'd like to add summoning to his repertoire, and because I'd like to use the +1/2 "Loyal" advantage on the Summon, that leaves me with the ability to summon 150-pt creatures. Elementals seem the most in-character for my PC. Here's the trick: the elementals in the HSB, while very cool, are more like 500 points. So I'm trying to come up with cool 150-pt elementals to summon without making them totally one-dimensional and abusive. Here's one idea I had: a "Lesser Wind Elemental" who is basically the Tasmanian Devil but never stops whirling. A sentient dust devil. Fast movement…

Howdy, Herophiles! Just a quick note to let you know that we added 21 new powers to the Online USPD today. They have a "date posted" entry that tells you they're new. Most of the new powers were contributions from fans; powers with no attribution I created myself. If you turned in a power and it's not included, I decided not to use it for some reason (too similar to an existing power, not appropriate for the USPD, didn't like it, too much work to revise, etc.). Right now we are, by my estimate, about one-fifth of the way before we could even consider publishing a small (64 page) USPD Update book. So, keep those contributions coming!

Didn't see this in FAQ, and was curious. I was thinking of posting the back-story I wrote for a character (at the player's request) for review and critique. Problem: Adult language, Racially offensive language (in a couple of places, not as a general theme) and a rather adult (but not explicit) incident (What can I say? Substance and Family abusing adults aren't pretty people known for genteel speech.) I'm not sure if such material can be posted at all, and if it can, should it carry a warning in its header (something like: Character Origin - Adult / Offensive Content!)? If someone could point me to a set of guidelines, I'd appreciate it. Cyberknight

Sorry about formatting.. IMPORTANT NOTE: point costs are on the LEFT SIDE in all cases, even for characteristics. If someone can explain to me why people put characteristic VALUES on the left and points on the right, but then put points on the left for the rest of the sheet, I am very interested to know. Hello guys and gals, Well this is my first official topic starter for these boards and after looking through the past topics I have not seen anything concerning this subject...How do heroes die in your games? I'm not talking about the gritty Fantasy type stuff where it should be more common but in the super hero world. I recently took up the mantle of gamemastering for our group and having never GMed this kinda campaign before I wondered how often deaths happen in other GM's games. I've read comics as a kid and know that somtimes heroes do indeed die but in a RPG things are different, lets face it, if things arent scripted like in the comics then a death could…
