...as in what you've seen in Matrix Reloaded? So far, I'm looking at a pretty hefty multi-pool, using the whole "stop bullets" as a tricky form of Missile Deflection, various movement powers (to represent battle leaping and flying), and a LOT of martial arts skills. ;-) What did I miss?

Here's the PC in my group, The Ghost Knight. He's been doing some... really impressive things with his powers (He knows the rules better then I do), so I would like folks to take a look at him. Tell me what you guys think. His player will post the background info after me. But here you go: http://www.memesis.org/garrett/rpgs/ghostknight/ghost5th.html

I have question about how to handle NND's and the appropiate defense(s). My question is how much of a defeense to require to nullify the NND attack. For example, if a character had a NND attack based on a light attack and the defense is flash defense (sight), how much defense should be required? I have played in campaigns were the required amount ranged from 5 points up to 20 points. I was hoping someone could help me out on this?

Hi Guys, I am starting a new champions campaign soon using a mixed DC/Marvel universe using the Heroclix minatures. the first character I am attempting to model is Superman. To give you a little background, I am going for the modern version of Supes as per recent JLA issues. He will start at the top end of the power scale with STR 100 (the same as my universe Thor and starting Hulk before getting mad). His Dex is 35 (very high for my universe but characters such as Beast, Nightcrawler and Spidey will have dex from 40 to 50). I am not concerned in fitting any character into a point value, I want detailed write ups as true to the character as possible, s…

Does anyone have a resource to translate english phrases into Chinese/Japanese/Korean, etc. phonetic language (i.e. not written character translations)?) For example, if I have a Chinese character named "Speed Shadow" in English, what would be the Chinese pronunciation of that name? How would you spell it out with the english alphabet? Thanks.

IIRC, when the new team was introduced, there was a fair amount of discussion of their personalities and background, but relatively little about the integrity of their design. One thing that always bugged me about the BBB team was that, although one of their functions was to provide examples of character design for new players, many of them suffered from odd flaws (shouldn't Seeker know how to use his martial-arts weapons with his martial arts?), which could lead new players astray. Now, perhaps it was that we were all still getting used to 5th, or perhaps it was that, before CU and CKC, there wasn't enough opposition to give us a solid idea of what "typical" enemies…

This is an offshoot of the Thor/Supes threat, that I thought was worth a thread of its own. Do you give your characters abusive amounts of DEX? Nucleon saw many abuses of this good, good investment. "Thors" with 27-30 DEX, Power Armors that makes you more agile than when you're naked and the likes. There are substitutes to a caricatural DEX; Lightning Reflexes, Combat Skills levels and some skills like Acrobatics and Breakfall may be what a character have to appear agile. In our campaigns, CSLs (and PSLs) have preseance over DEX. 6-8 levels of CSLs are common, reaching as high as 20 for the 3-pts martial art CSL. One of my players, Mr. Chin, is a norma…

How would people simulate a character's ability to slip into basically a "frenzy" in combat, thus improving his fighting ability temporarily. Specifically, I'm working on a character who is very "besial" in nature, and when provoked, can frenzy. He growls, roars, and fights a little more like a trapped beast than a trained martial artist. He doesn't go completely mindless, however. He doesn't attack allies, and his mental abilities aren't lessened. In short, there's no serious downside to this; no "enraged" or "berserk" disadvantages. I'd like to see how people would handle this. Of course, if you want to talk about variations on this theme, feel free. -Bl…

Basically I'm designing a charater who is an MA with the ability to go desolid vs non-living objects. IOW living objects (people, aliens, mice, still living wood) can interact with her and she can interact with them. So: Desolid (strikable by natural HTH attacks ofd living creatures (Fists, feet, claws, etc) However, naturally her own fists/feet can hit people whilst 'desolid' since she is just as solid to their faces as her face is the their fists. What is more they naturally ignore non-living armor type PD (traditional armor, PA, etc). Which means all MA manuevers have to be bought with 'Affects Solid' and AVLD (natural PD). This makes most MA manuvers ab…

I'm personally still divided on this issue (both as a GM and a player). So I'm looking for opinions to help me make up my mind. I've seen even innocuous amounts of healing drag fights out into that should have ended much sooner and at times I've seen healing be a boon so the GM doesn’t have to re-arrange an encounter on the fly due to some difficulty problems. Does in combat healing belong in a superheroes game or is it one of those abilities that by mutual agreement GM's and players should avoid? What's your thoughts on the subject?

Thinking of doing a character with a variety of really nasty teleportation Powers. Wondering how I could do each of these effects in HERO: 1. Teleporting enemies into extremely deadly locations (the bottom of the ocean, the center of the sun, etc). 2. Teleporting only parts of enemies (heads, skeletons, internal organs, ect). 3. Teleporting enemies out of armor. 4. Teleporting weapons out of enemies' hands. 5. Teleporting cybernetic implants out of enemies' bodies. Any ideas?

In Champions 2018: Radar Rider is idly surfing the Web, downloading music files, when on a casual search he finds a Champions fanfic/fanart site, with a newly updated section for the "new team". Coolishness! RADAR RIDER: "Hmm...oh. Marchwarden. Marchwarden. Marchwarden...oh hey! Radar Rider/Marchwarden! Front billing, even!" HEARTSEEKER: "Erm...R.R., yeh do know what the "slash" means, don't yeh?" RADAR RIDER: "EEEIIAAIII!!!!!" BASE AI: "I believe that he does now, Ms. Irwin."

I've noticed that a number of this board's users seem to harbor a pronounced dislike for the off-genre character, the kind who seem to be in the wrong game. Paladins, cowboys, Klingons...they catch a pretty bad rep. And yet, in a genre whose established icons include wizards, mutants, aliens, cyborgs, thunder gods and ninja masters, who can say what's "off-genre"? I've seen several such characters work out fine in the past; in fact, I'm playing one currently who seems to fit right in. I've come to believe that the "Annoying Off-Genre Character" problem stems not from which genre the character is drawn from, but rather from how the character is played. I've tried to …

Hi! [smiles] I've been experimenting with this character idea for quite sometimes. I put it away for a while, and I decided to come back to it. The history is 'sketchy' since it's not meant to be a rounded character, and more of an experiment in design. The character centers around three women, 'sisters', that upon being exposed to a magickal accident, were 'fused' into the embodiment of an idealized concept of womanhood. A strong, confident woman, able to be sensitive, but her own person at the same time. While not an ultra feminist, she is quite liberal minded, and certianly speaks her mind. Sisterhood's 'component' parts, on the other hand, are less then ideal. …

Okay, we're playing in a, hmm, ugly Champions game. By ugly I mean a dark, Vertigo or MAX rather than DC or Marvel comic. My guy, Martin Lockheed, is a fun loving cross between the Punisher and the Crow with a pair of Desert Eagles (AP rounds in one, Plastic rounds (EB rather than RKA) in the other). 350pts and 20 something Hero Bonus. Another player is a slightly occult Batman: Hates guns, won't kill, utility belt, access to government/police computers etc. 350pts and shed loads of experience. Of course, the two haven't gotten on. My "war on crime"/crusade against those who murdered me has seen me in jail but a hot shot lawyer got me off. Now Occult…

Someone on the boards here mentioned a team consisting of Bulldozer, Blowtorch, and some other individuals. One was named Buzzsaw. Is this a listed NPC? Where? I love'm buzzsaws, and saws, and ... saws! Where can I find 'em?

I am full of it today. Questions that is. Comic book characters evolve slowly and often against the will of fans and the companies themselves. Technology based heroes change most often but everyone evolves, look at Iron Man, Spiderman even developed his "spider tracers" and different uses for his web fluid. In Champions this can be done in more drastic ways rather easily. Aside from team comlinks, bases, and vehicles; have the groups you've played in (or GM'd) "helped eachother out?" Case in point though they are NPC's I have always been fond of a group I made for my first campaign, The Tomorrow Legion. Basically they were a circle of friends (and u…

Hello all, I have just bought CKC, as a prelude to running my very own Champions campaign. I think it is safe to say, that some of the villains in the book are probably (loosely) based on characters that we have seen in one comic or another. Reading up on Dr. Destroyer, I was wondering how I would role-play him, and at first I thought of running him akin to Dr. Doom, but the more I think about it the less I believed that. You see, though Dr. Doom has power-armor, science skills that are unequalled by any one on Earth (except Reed Richards ), and has an ego that dwarfs Jupiter in size, he also has a Code of Honour and the ruler of a country. This definetly …

Ever (as a GM or a Player) Seriously miscalculate the ability of the foe you were facing? Two examples: Way back in Highschool, my 7th grader brother wanted to run a campaign, so my best friend and I made some characters and oen of the first encounters is a group of thugs protecting a dweeby accountant. The Accountant was a link to a major crime lord and my character, a macho ninja wannabe lays out three of the thugs and tries to intimidate the dweeb only to find out that he is a Brick, and that being the mastervillain's accountant is only one of his duties. The guy wipes the floor with my ninja, as his first shot stuns me as does the subsequent grab and smash. I …
