Hey, So one of the most fun characters that I have ever played was a super stretch/shapeshifter named, (ready for it) Stretch. I had been playing Champs for nearly 10 years at the time that I made him and never in that time had I even considered playing a stretching character. I just thought it was silly. Then I had to make a character for a friends game that I was sitting in on. I wanted to make something I had never played before, so there it was. I went more toward the Plastic Man route of wise cracking, fun loving guy, rather than the Mr. Fantastic guy. Anyway, despite what I thought, it was a total blast! I have never had so much fun as I did with this g…

I've done enough talking about them in other threads, and so for anybody who cares, I'm going to post their character sheets and writeups. For anybody who doesn't care, my apologies for the waste of bandwidth -- I've only been here a month or so, I'm not fully up on the etiquette of posting your characters. Since I do my characters in my own Excel spreadsheet, and not the Heromaker software, I'm not sure if these will format right. Note -- two of these characters were built for a 750-point campaign, only one of them is a 350-pointer. ("A 750 point campaign?", you might ask? Yup. A 750 point campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to role-play th…

Well it has been a long time sense I have GM'ed adults, and I ran my second session for adults today. My current group is a mixed bag of experienced gamers, gamers who are experienced with other games but not Hero. The group of heroes so far is Mystfire a Super mage who managed to blow his ID in the first session of the game, pick up talismon as a hunted, a tabloid who wishes to mildly punish him (Embaress) and the cops watching him. Name I can't spell, a kung fu hero with OIHID and Restrainable cyberntics A reptilian Brick with 40" accurate leaping A 17 year old genius who built his own battlesuit (Flight, EB) A character who can assume an…

What are the rules regarding posting conversions of old characters? I'm talking really early sourcebooks and adventures like the Seven Horsemen, the Coriolis Effect, etc. Obviously the 4th edition stuff is unlikely to be postable, but the really old stuff might be okay. Or am I just going to have to keep them to myself? Glen (slowly working towards Skilled Normal)

What kind of limitation would you think this would be? I'm making a character, and drawing heavily on Mr. Surbrook's DBZ Hero for it, and including the Chi Summoning power; however, for the way I'm envisioning this, if the character gets KOed, the aid fades instantly (though it can obviously be re-charged). I'm thinking about a -1/2 ... any other opinions out there?

Watching the movie "Crocodile Hunter" last night reminded me of the web comic somebody posted "Steve Irwin Meets Cthulhu." It occurred to me that Irwin could easily replace Jimmy Dugan as the NPC normal heroes love to hate, if anyone who cuddles venemous snakes for a living can be considered "normal." Imagine. Your Friendly Neighborhood Heroes are about to put some smackdown on those pesky alien invaders or Elder Gods when HE shows up to rescue the poor victimized brutes. Here's what I've got so far. Let me know what you think. 200+ Disadvantages 20 Psychological Limitation: Code vs. Killing Animals, common, total 20 Psychological Limitati…

I'm not sure how to do something, so I'm asking the multitude of Herodom... I am using an NPC called Coriolis (from the adventure book of the same name) as a team member for the Players heroes. In the last adventure before our break to another campaign I apparently killed her. She is more air elemental than human, and she isn't really dead, just dispersed. However, I don't want to just return her to normal after a short break, I want her presence to become known (to the keen eyed) before then. I envisage her hanging around the team (especially her lover, another NPC), and using her, currently, weakened air powers to influence events around the team. How to do this? S…

On a character i decided that a scandel rag has decided to make him there favorite topic (Ala Daily Bugle & Spider man). To this effect I have decided to give him a limitation of Hunted: Mildly Punish (Embaress) ? My question is would this be more appropriate for a watch than a mildly punish?

As I look at the Champions threads about Witchcraft, Nighthawk, and others; I'm reminded of how well they've actually worked as supporting NPCs in my own MC campaign. Naturally, a lot of success for characters is what you put into them once the Role playing gets going, but I can see potiential in them. An earlier thread discussed how to boost them up, but what directions story wise do you think they'll be taking? For those of you that use the Champions that is. I can see Defender going lots of routes. He might end up upgrading his armor more and more to keep up with the advancing powers/skills of his compatriots. Eventually, he may realize Harmon Ind itself can …

All I can say is: my time-travel plot featuring a 27th-century fighter wreaking havoc with 8d6RKAs suddenly doesn't seem so scary.

As some of you may have noticed, I'm working on a new character. He's my first 5th Ed. 350 point character (gasp). Nightfall The very, very short version of his origin is that Nightfall's family was killed by theives. This got the attention of Hermes, the god of theives, who agreed that his theives went too far. To absolve his guilt, Hermes gave him his earthly "power." In short, Nightfall is Hermes' avatar -- power-wise. Attitude-wise he's more modeled on Batman. So I've been working on his powers. By my reckoning, Hermes is the god of many, many things: martial arts, stealth, deception, tricks, athleticism, shepherds, musical instruments, language, bu…

Hi all, I've finally done it. I've got the perfect solution, I hope, to the Bat Team problem. Due to criminal action, Batman has broken most of his bones, had his identity exposed, and has sufferred a stroke. Robin (Tim) is dead. Nightwing (Dick) lives in Denver. Batgirl (Barbara) was on another case when the trouble occurred. Who will help her defend Gotham City? Timeline wise, were in the animated Batman universe after the second series. Also, we're in an alternate Champions Universe where John Collingsworth is the President, most superhero teams have more than one federal liaison, and the existance of the Stargate Project was recently exposed by the NID an…

Our current campaign storyline involves a baddie re-animating old corpses. Our campaign is set in an amalgam of the DC and Marvel universes. He has now stepped up the attacks by managing to revive and control an unspecified alien Green Lantern, Captain America's old sidekick Bucky, and Jason Todd (Robin #2 of 3). So can any of you comic book fans with eidetic memory come up with other heroes who are truly dead and gone, and haven't been brought back by the comic publishers? I'm interested in just those from the last century, not really from the distant past or far future (like the Legion of Superheroes). Others I could think of include the original Supergirl (Kara/Li…

Hi all, Just out of curiosity, how many of you playing in the official Hero Universe setting ever intend to use some of the other genres as settings for time travel adventures? Myself, I expect/hope to see something soon covering the Turakian Age, as one of the characters in my campaign gets his powers from an artifact from that time -- it was built to oppose Krim and Takofanes/Kal-Turak, and since the character is /very/ curious about its real origins I expect we'll be taking a little trip one of these days...

I am working on a Golden Age sonics character called Anthem. Two questions for the Learned Panel on limitations for her powers: She has a PRE Aid when she sings the National Anthem. What would you give 'Only Works On Americans'? She is part of the Defenders Of Justice that stayed behind on the homefront as per Champions cannon, so she will spend most of her time around Americans. I have it at a -1/2. Too High? Too Low? She has a 'Siren Song' styled Mind Control, which I want to give a 'Target Must Be In Earshot' Limitation. Since 'Requires Eye Contact' is a -1/2, I was thinking more of a -1/4 since sound travels and is indirect. Or maybe Limited Range? …

Hi there - I've been away for a year or so (just after the boards switched over last time) but now that I'm setting up to start a game of Champions for some new players, I've found my way back again. As none of the players have ever used Hero System before, I've given them the task of giving me a thorough description of the people they want to play - average normals, University students with no unusual abilities. I've chosen to work all of the character creation themselves, as I've decided to run a mutant game, and have figured out the power-set I'm going to go with for each of the characters when their powers surface in the first adventure. Part of the story…

I'm making a character who is imbued with the powers of the Greek god Hermes. Since Hermes is, amongst several other things, the god of trickery and deception I thought the character should have some kind of enhanced sense to allow him to see through deceptions of some kind. Since this concept could become a little too powerful and unbalancing I thought I'd stick to an enhanced sense that would only allow me to perceive through illusions made by the Images power (I'll also take mental defense only usable vs Mental Illusions). How should I go about that? My first thought was either a bonus to perception, only vs Images or Detect: Images (as sense, discrimiatory, et…

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that you can do a move through with a weapon, I just can't find it anywhere. If someone could clear this up for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. The main question I had was (if they are allowed), how the damage is figured with an HKA. Say you have 50STR and a 2d6 HKA, the max damage you should be able to do it 4d6 KA, but does that increase with the momentum from a move through? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If I wanted to create a character who doesn;t intially know they are destined to be a superhero and doesn;t even know he has superpowers, much less what they are, how would this be handled? I'm thinking about the situation where the character either has his "origin" over the course of play (he's a less powerfulnormal, then has accident and gets superpowers that he did not expect and initially has a hard time controlling) or a character with innate super-potential that emerges gradually over time (every so often he gets a new power or super-characteristic until his character is filled out to full power). Is there a good way in-game to handle this sort of developemnt. …
