It's not a random musing, so it doesn't go there. Despite the timing, it's not holiday anything, so it doesn't go there. It _is_ from my life, but it's not particularly quotable and far, far too long (though the reminiscing did bring up and old quote, and if I can remember it again, I will post it as well). This is the story of lost productivity. This is the story of bizarre inter-human relations. This is the story of high emotions, high pressure, and low empathy. Or, if you must have a clean and concise reference, it is the story of the worst funeral I have ever attended. I don't feel particularly light and fluffy tonight, so you're in for a …

I have just attended the San Diego Comic Convention 2021 Special Edition. It was very fun. This was a smaller than average event, with an estimated 40,000 to 60,000 attendees instead of the 160,000 attendees normal before the pandemic. In my opinion, the smaller size is a positive, because I am a conservative who believes the old days were better. The exhibition hall did not feel clogged, people were not camping to attend panels, and parking beneath the San Diego Convention Center was readily available for those who could arrive by 7 AM. I attended a panel for Brent Spiner and a panel for Greg and Karen Evans, who make the Luann comic strip.got an autograph from Gigi Edg…

For the benefit if anyone living under a rock, D&D has had a massive reboot in the past few years based on Critical Role and a host of other groups (Realmsmith, Role 20, Dungeon Dudes among many others) filming their D&D campaigns on YouTube and other streaming platforms. Those top professional outfits are now making money out of it and there is a massive revival of D&D going on (and product sales). Is anyone aware of anyone doing the same for a Hero system campaign? It seems to me that a superhero campaign based on Hero System could capture a niche audience, or a Fantasy campaign based on Hero system could grab some attention. It seems like a huge…

Tomorrow in America there is major shopping as prices are reduced for reasons that are hard to fathom. So if you have not got your goods in, then you are probably out of luck. For those of you in the retail sector I wish you good luck for tomorrow. I suggest you take the day off and relax because tomorrow will be an absolute debacle !

Good day to everyone here at NGD! As some of you may know, I run a website called Embrace Your Geekness and at that website, we have a Hall of Fame. We do a poll every year where we at EYG nominate several items, people, characters, movies etc. and the top vote getters are inducted into the EYG Hall of Fame. This is the EYG Hero Games NGD Award that we do every year (this is the sixth year for this award) How this works: I am looking for nominations from the community of NGD for the best comic book artists or comic book writers of all time. I would ask that you nominate those creators who you think have d…

It's that time of year again! I have already started posting a few appropriate pics in other threads, but I thought it would be good to have a dedicated thread where we could all share the horrors of the season!

Spring training is winding up, and opening day is around the corner. Most places will allow limited attendance. Cool! Shohei Otani is *scheduled* to pitch and hit. If it works out, it'll be interesting to watch. He's only hitting 16 for 26 with 5 HRs this spring...and throwing 101 on the mound. Not so good news...Eloy Jimenez committed the not-uncommon sin of effort without thought. Like, trying to throw out a runner that's gonna make it by 10 feet regardless...and air-mailing the throw into the seats. Here...he tried to snatch back a homer by leaping over the wall. The ball landed 2-3 feet past, easily. And the outcome? He rupt…

As we start heading into the Christmas season, I hope my fellow Hero fans will consider helping the less fortunate. Here are a few charities I am supporting and hope you might give something as well. WaterAid has been working to transform lives for more than 40 years through the power of clean water. Imagine being able to go online and purchase three chickens for a family in a developing country. Or lifesaving nutrition for a young child. Or a beehive to families who have been impacted by drought, to help them generate income. Volunteer to help those around you. There are opportunities everywhere.

Given all that we have scene regarding the new Batwoman TV show, I'm wondering what people are thinking. As for myself I'm not impressed. It' looks like the writers went to see Captain Marvel and think that's waht a superhero show is all about.

<sigh> Ordered some coffee. Shipped from LA on the 6th. Arrived El Paso on the 7th. Went from El Paso to Little Rock on the 8th..... Went BACK to El Paso, getting there today, the 10th. It'll probably head up here tomorrow. Hopefully, not another side trip. Everything goes through either El Paso or Albuquerque to get here...why it went to Little Rock is beyond me. And it's not even the busy season.
