Some of you may remember Winchell Chung, aka Nyrath. He owns the Atomic Rockets site and used to be active in the Star Hero forum. I just learned on another board that he is gravely ill. I wanted to confirm it before posting here. I have found his tweet about his condition. If you want to send him well wishes, you can add to the notes here. I'll be cross-posting this in the Star HERO forum.

Hope this comes about. Some of the best sci-fi ever put on TV.

Netflix is going to be making a live action Sandman series. Ot is an adaptation of the comic book. Season one seems to be the origin of Dream's capture and freedom, and the adaptation of A Dolls House. Of course the stories will be at least slightly modified. I don't think the sceen of the Martian Manhunter or Doctor Destiny will be in it, but I believe Lucifer is in it, and Joanna Consitine (John Constine's grandmother) will be in it. Why does Netflix have this and HBOMax don't? Then we could have Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol show up...if the stories calls for them to do so.

Ring the bell, ‘cause school’s back in session! All right kiddos, get out your Trapper Keepers and your No. 2 pencils and polish those apples, because it’s time for the September 2021 Superdraft: Back to School! In this superdraft, you will select some school or academy environment and populate it with fictional characters in some kind of story. Hogwarts, Starfleet Academy, Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, Forks High School, whatever. Choose your school from fiction, or make up one of your own. Then choose characters to fill the following traditional school roles: The School / Location: This is the first pick. Iden…

You have a plain hamburger and bun. You get your choice of any four toppings--no more, no fewer. Four toppings. What are they?

As Hermit has been kind enough to lead the way with a Superdraft for January, here's the obligatory thread to keep track of what we're doing this year. Questions? Comments? Helpful(ish) suggestions? This is the place. January: The completely unasked for "I want to be a -" fantasy (?) draft (Hermit) February: March: April: May: June: July: August: September: October: November: December: (Updated as demand requires.)

It's recently come to my attention that there's a gaping hole in my music collection where jazz is concerned. I feel I need to rectify that. So I'm asking for your recommendations. The jazz I have in my collection right now is pretty much limited to the following: * Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet * Bitches Brew by Miles Davis * My Favorite Things by John Coltrane * The Definitive Collection by Chick Corea & Return to Forever * A big chunk of Al Di Meola's discography * A couple of albums by Candy Dulfer * A Charlie Parker anthology So, what do I still need?

It is hard to believe...but... Tomorrow marks 20 years since planes were used as weapons of mass destruction. I still remember NPR's initial reports...confused and unclear. I vividly remember watching the only TV I could watch...a tiny thing, lousy reception OTA, but, yes, I watched tower 2 fall. It's still a jarring memory. I barely remember the rest of the week, I was that numb. To honor everyone...the passengers who thwarted another attack by forcing the plane down, the victims at the Penatgon, all the lives lost in the Towers, and last but by no means least, all the emergency responders who fell...do something that…

How did everybody come out after Hurricane Ida? My basement apartment got about a quarter inch of water throughout and it’s going to be an annoyance to fix back up but I’ve been very lucky so far. Did anybody here get slammed or do we know of any members in the bad areas?

I used Captain America for my Avatar for July. I'm changing it for August. I'd like to use another superhero, but I can't decide which one. Please vote for one of the following: Blue Beetle (Jaime) Crusader (Love and Capes) Colossus The Hulk Mister Incredible The Question Perhaps you have suggestions for heroes other than these. I don't wanna talk about it right now. Maybe in September.... Anyway, please vote. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Digital TV, that is. We had some big time lightning, and lost power for ~ 45 minutes...fortunately, as the oven was pre-heating, NOT when everything was in and cooking. TCL TV came back up, seemed to be just fine for a bit, but then...I dunno, it's died. 3rd digital TV to do so for me, in not allll that long a period of time. Tried lots of things, nothing works. May have to see if I've got a spare monitor with an HDMI port. I know I've got the monitors; not sure about the HDMI. Sound's not an issue, it's piped through my receiver. And I may price a monitor if I do have to replace it, altho the better monitors in 40-43" sizes are, I think, …

I recently had a wonderful hit of nostalgia. By way of LinkedIn (where I have an account but almost never use) I found an old high school friend was going to be on a podcast called Comics on Comics. It seems the whole premise of the show is about performing comics talk about comic books. Great premise. My friend Doug was on an episode called Batman is Boring. Doug was my single theater friend that was also into comic books. We made trips together to multiple comic book stores once a week to fill out our collections. We discovered Justice League International together, and that's still my favorite series ever. He was the Blue Beetle to my Booster Gold To hea…

Hi all. I'm looking for a high-def version of this picture. This is only 500x375. My various searches haven't come up with anything larger, including reverse. Can you help find one? Thanks.

Rockets trading Russell Westbrook to Wizards for John Wall, draft pick Rockets really trying hard to appease Harden here with this trade and signing Boogie Cousins last month. Wall and Cousins are very talented, but both are injury prone and have barely played in the last 2 years.
