The Summers Family Tree Draft of 2022 I think we did something like this once before, so it should be an easy draft to do as we are close on the Holidays. The goal is to design a family from any published source, but once a character is picked he is off the table. So the location is the first pick, then the rest can be filled at any time. We will pick through the weekend. To have a more relaxed time for this, the draft will start on Mon, the 12th at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Let's make this last draft of the year a good one. Location of Home: Father Mother Son Daughter Family Pet Grandfather/mother…

With spring training games going on, the strike threat gone, it's time to start a thread for the new season. And I get to start it with a bang. Instead of putting into the CBA, MLB and MLBPA made some rules changes...note that this facility was included in the CBA. 1. The Ohtani rule. If the starting pitcher is also listed as the DH, then removing him as a pitcher does NOT remove him as the DH. He can stay in that role. This only applies to the starters, but let's be honest, it applies only to Ohtani. 2. Extra runner starting on 2B in extra innings is BACK for 2022. Yay! I know it's polarizing, but I feel it *greatl…

My older brother Joel died yesterday. He had been suffering from RSV for weeks and suddenly he just was gone. I know none of you know him or probably even care but he was the world to me. He was the one who got me into role playing games. He taught me to love the blues and Pat Metheny. He provided for me and housed me for decades when my health failed. He was my biggest fan, supporter, and promoter for my writing. I love him so much and I miss him so badly it hurts so much I can hardly breathe right. Everywhere I go, everything I see brings back a flood of memories and emotions and it is so hard to take. I just need to say something about him here bec…

I wrote a short-short story this weekend that seems relevant to here. It's completely unedited or polished, and will probably stay that way, but I feel like sharing anyway. Fear Itself

Happens every year.... We will induct three comic creators in the NGD Award. The top two vote getters so far have been Jolly Blackburn and Ben Edlund. They have been inducted. However, we need a third one and we have a four way tie. So... we are going to have a TIE BREAKER vote. You can vote for ONE of the four creators. The poll will not run for long. Who ever has the most votes will join Jolly Blackburn and Ben Edlund in this year's NGD Award.

Good day to everyone here at NGD! As some of you may know, I run a website called Embrace Your Geekness and at that website, we have a Hall of Fame. We do a poll every year where we at EYG nominate several items, people, characters, movies etc. and the top vote getters are inducted into the EYG Hall of Fame. This is the EYG Hero Games NGD Award that we do every year (this is the seventh year for this award) How this works: I am looking for nominations from the community of NGD for the best comic book artists or comic book writers of all time. I would ask that you nominate those creators who you think have…

Over in the Funny Pics II Thread there was a bit about Gary Larson realizing that Ishtar wasn't as bad as the comic strip he'd written made it out to be. You may have seen it (the thread, not Ishtar). So if Ishtar isn't the worst movie, then what is?

Eric D July, also known as Young Rippa) is a talented and opinionated individual. He is a Musician, commentator and writer. I often watch him on TouTube. He has not been satisfied about the direction that Marvel and DC have taken. Now while I used to have a severe comics habit, mine attenuated to nothing a few years ago, around the time Meltdown Comics on Sunset closed its doors. From what had been a $100 a month habit dwindled to nothing, with a few exceptions I will go into later. Eric, a very enthusiastic DC fan felt the same way, but decided to put his money where his mouth is, and put together a crowd funding campaign to not just finance a comic, but finance a compan…

Robbie Coltraine has passed today. I always envied him a bit: it is hard to be an actor with his physical, size and not get type cast (at least, it is hard in the US). I knew him from Nuns on the Run; my kids knew him from Harry Potter. I dont ususally do the "a famous guy has died" threads- it is the pilrice or living, after all, and none of us are getting out any way but the same, but he always seemed like such a vibrant person. RIP, Hagrid.
