All right folx! It's taken months of talking back and forth, leaping logistical hurdles, and communications delays, but we've finally gotten everything set up for: The Andy Mathews Memorial Fund As some of you know, when Andy passed away last December, he had two young sons: Tim (age 6) and Mack (age 2). To honor Andy's memory, we've set up a Memorial Fund to pay for their education and health needs. Here's how it's going to work. We've put two items in the Online Store -- a $10 donation and a $20 donation. If you want to donate, just purchase one of them (or more than one, if you want to donate a larger amount). You can even add them to any other purchase…

I'm having trouble with the name for my upcoming Dark Champions paranormal game. I'm looking for something with a bit of flair or mystery/foreboding tied to it, usually shorter is better. Originally I was going with "Aberrants," as in aberrations, since the characters are all (in their own ways) beyond the normal paradigms of the everyday world. However, this word is apparently heavily associated with White Wolf's game. From suggestions/discussion on the chat, I'm also considering: Protos Metas (metahuman, etc) Paras (paranormals) Talents ("Look out, he's a Talent!") The PCs (and some of the adversaries though not all) are not "normal" hum…

Can anyone tell me where the Harbinger's write up is? I have his 4th edition, but for 5ER I have looked through Dark Champions and Hudson City and cannot find it. Did I miss it, or is it in another book? Thank you.

I was just kind of wondering where a 'street-level supers' game would be considered in the 'spectrum' of HERO gaming. For my main character to use for an example, I'll use Spider-Man. Now, admittedly, Spider-Man hops around from cosmic to city-level quite a bit, but most of the time, he's strictly New York material and the threats he takes on aren't world-beating affairs (I suppose Cloak and Dagger enter at this level, too). So, as far as 'plot-level' goes, he seems Dark Champions. However, two things seem to separate him from the Dark Champions mold: 1. Super-powers. He and a lot of his opposition have them, though they're not 'cosmic' level stuff (Spidey …

I was just wondering if people felt like taking a few seconds to think about the various sectors of Hudson City, and post some images that they thought captured the general feel or appearance of what each area might look like (dramatic/cool shots are the best, of course). For instance, I would love to be able to show my players a photo of Chinatown (but I don't know of a city that has a "great" example of an American Chinatown), or a residential area that just screams Irishtown, etc.

On the online resources sub-forum (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71524), I'm working on building a city for 1.5" minis, I'm cross-posting this on the Champions, Dark Champions, and Space Hero forums, in case anyone has been looking for this type of resource and hasn't known it existed. These pictures are of someone elses city, not mine, By the way, they are to show an example of what they say can be done, I'm in no way an artist, so if I can do this, anyone can.

I got a pretty wild idea for a game, or at least as wild as our usual settings go. I was thinking of a base mix of Hudson City and World of Darkness. I want my players to play a Jamaican shotta (Jamaican word for gangsta) posse (Hurricane). Because some of their immediate rival, and possibly ally, gangs are practising voodoo, I thought it to become the springing board to the 'other side' of the setting. I want to have the vigilantes too, but I'm thinking more of Deathwish than Punisher. So, any ideas how to make this awesome?

Okay. I know we have a few army guys who post here. I could use some help. I need information on CID. I have some basic information from their site, such as the general command structure and unit designations, and that its a warrant officer's berth. I also found their issue sidearm and their form of address. But I could use more specifics in terms of the headquarters staff structure in general (org chart?), and the field investigations unit in specific. There is no information on how big the FIU is, whether its broken down into smaller investigative units/squads headed by senior warrant officers, etc. I'm also not sure about their reporting structure. What are the r…

Hi everybody I'm designing a contemporary Horror/Hunter style game and I'm looking for an equipment list that is as extensive as possible and includes weight prices and any other data that might be handy (HERO stats I can make where needed) is their a list in one of the books? or maybe online? I tried Googling but my search-fu MA failed me

Started a DC game recently, real down to earth and violent. The GM said we could have slightly more advanced tech then is around today so I created Raptor, the most dangerous tech ninja since... if anyone thinks of one let me know. Anyways here is my DC character Raptor in case anyone needs a tech ninja for their game. I'll be posting updates of him as the game continues. House Rules: Since we started out with fewer points then normal DC characters the GM gave us one free contact equal to five points and if we increased the roll of an everyman skill the cost was reduced by one point. Hence the zero cost contact and some skills being two points instead of three. R…

ok... this is real, but seems fitting for DC or Macho Women with Guns http://tacticalcorsets.com/ or you could use this for a revival of West Side Story set in the Rocky Horror Universe

The mottos used by various (mainly military) organizations can be very useful in giving flavor to Dark Champions games. One of my favorites is "The difficult anytime. The impossible by appointment only." used by The US Navy's Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman. What are some of your favorite mottos, and have you used them in games?

OK, I'm curious, and instead of thread jacking the Mottos thread Manic Typist posted this in, I'm starting a new thread. Which value assumptions are you referring to, and which value assumptions would you rather play with? As a more open question, for the Dark Champions genre as a whole (from Animated Series to Bloodthirty Mercenaries) what Genre Values and Assumptions appeal to you all out there? I'd like to leave Cyberpunk and Near-Future styles out, as they belong as much in Star Hero as Dark Champions, and focus more on the modern and "street" level campaigns.

I am working on creating a year calendar for Hudson City and wondering if anyone has ever done this. I plan on using as many story lines and threads to link up with Predators, Underworld Enemies, Hudson City Blues and any other book I can think of. I would like to create it as a player directed world with events for them to choose from to pursue. There will also be a variety of events that all the players to feel as if the rest of the world is continuing. Once I have the storylines put on the main calendar, I also plan on doing a daily log of events, weather, sports, cultural events, news and police reports. I am thinking of running it into the Hudson City Blues for t…

Warehouses are an important part of your Dark Champions campaign. What neferious operation doesn't eventually get around to using a warehouse? For an upcomming game I need a warehouse for the player characters to raid. I know little about how warehouses are arranged so I have been conducting a google search to see what I can find. I figured that I'd share my findings thusfar and hope they will be of use to some other DC players/GMs. 10 Warehouse Floor Plans Multiple PDF Warehouse Floor Plans A 10,430 Sq. Ft. Warehouse in PDF. EDIT: I managed to find a few more. Two "warehouses" on the campus of California State University in Chico. However it s…
