The island is actually where the city does it's burials in non pandemic times so I hope its just a case of unneeded precaution. Michael Hopcroft
This weekend is going to be a huge challenge for practicing Chirstians. On one hand, in some states some churches are legally hosting Easter services this coming Sunday. These are usually medium-to-large churches with no oversight from their denomination (or that are their own denomination for most purposes). Their members, and especially those with families, will have to balance their desire to attend worship with their desire to protect themselves and their families from the virus. Unfortunately many (including their leaders) really don't care about the latter, which leads to the public health issues that would result from an outbreak related to the event. After all, it takes only one asymptomatic infected person to spread the disease to hundreds in a situation like that. On the other, most denominations which have the authority to do so are telling their membership to stay home and celebrate privately. In two particular cases (Catholics and "Mormons"), the very highest level of authority (Pope Francis and President Russell M. Nelson) have orders home worship. But how to do you maintain reverence if your five-year-old doesn't understand and is wreaking havoc?
Bazza
I think Jesus understands the current predicament and takes that into account. Or, I can ask his mum, and get her opinion.

Mightybec
Initially, burying virus victims on an island in NYC seemed horrible, but I guess this is common? Normally 25 a week are buried here, but now it is at 40ish a week.
Old Man
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52241221 Quote Normally, about 25 bodies a week are interred on the island, according to the Associated Press news agency. But burial operations have increased from one day a week to five days a week, with around 24 burials each day, said Department of Correction spokesman Jason Kersten. death tribble
I was a little concerned about the number of casualties that Britain was getting but then I noticed for most countries is 10% deaths to total cases. And that means Britain is in line with other countries.

Old Man
The good news is that while Hart Island burials are usually performed by slaves from Rikers Island Prison Complex, they are now being performed by contractors, reducing the unemployment rate ever so slightly. I think a core aspect of keeping things somewhat controlled is testing early and extensively, as well as the willingness to embrace the restrictions. unclevlad
Ouch. Topped 100,000 reported deaths worldwide. US is likely going to pass Italy before the reporting day ends, for most deaths in one country.
Lord Liaden
The WHO estimates that normal influenza strains kill between 290,000 and 650,000 people per year world wide, depending on the severity of the strain and the effectiveness of the vaccine for it. And the Spanish 'flu pandemic of 1918 killed 50,000,000. CORVID--19 is significantly deadlier than the seasonal 'flu. The casualties would have been vastly higher if the world hadn't started taking action. And a single life lost that could have been saved is a tragedy. But we can't let the numbers push us into despair. This is part of the world's life cycle. It's happened countless times before, and it will almost certainly happen again. We'll come out of this bloodied, but we've come out of worse. Lawnmower Boy and ScottishFox
