I have an ideal for a odd martial arts style based on 70's disco music. Right now, all I have for manuvers are... 1) Shadow Dancing (a dodge). 2) Night Feaver (an uppercut attack). 3) A manuver where the user grabs his oponent, then 'throws' them by twirling them away. Damage comes from the victom's inability to cope with virtigo from the spin. 4) Disco Infurno (a special attack, best done by a power). 5) How Do You Want It? (a block...traditinaly followed by...), 6) More! More! More! (a slap to the face...a counterattack). 7) The Hustle (Any ideal what this manuver could do?). Any ideals on disco songs which could be used as martial arts manuvers? A…

Forgive me if this has been covered already but I did a search and couldn't find anything close: It is the function of the GM to keep the players on the hop, but occasionally the boot is on the other foot and the player comes out with something that is so left-field that all the GM can do is blink. What are some of the surprises you've inflicted upon GMs or have had players inflict on you? By way of example, I'll share a few: One was a girl I knew playing in a Cthulu game who stymied the GM by having her character, wearing a long black evening dress, stand up on a table in the middle of the cafeteria of Miskatonic University in the 1930s and sing "Love…

This is a thread for noodling around with various SMAC topics. I've got a game going right now that's at total blow-out, so I'm experimenting with some off-the-wall tactics. I'm not going to post any RPG material yet, but I'd like to at some point. 1. You can't air drop formers into enemy territory. No non-combat units can be air-dropped into enemy territory or cities. You can equip formers with drop pods, and you can drop them in your own territory. This is handy for terriforming small islands and such with out having to use a transport. 2. Speaking of transports, both Needlejets and Rotors can accept a cargo transport module. You can only transport o…

Robyn dances into the room, gibbering and giggling hysterically. "I've found it, I've seen the truth at last!" "My original theory was that technical support in this universe works because of a hidden metaphysical fact: every malfunction is caused by a gremlin. After a while, they breed enough that you have to take your computer in for "repair". What happens there has nothing to do with our tinkerings; the gremlins come in with the hardware and go home with us. Essentially what we're doing is an exorcism, except that the gremlins like being with us, and eventually we have so many that nothing we touch will work for us anymore." "You remember the Midas Touch…

Ok, I am going to start working more on my ninja Hero Campaign which I call Sunday Afternoon Shaolin Kung Fu Theatre! If you want to see the stuff leading up to this post please check out my first thread. http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37454 For now I am going to be working on the Red Raven and his Evil Cult that is bent on destroying the Shaolin Temple which is the main stage for the campaign. He is the ultra-villain that is bent on destroying the temple because of an old insult accidentally perpetrated by the current head monk of the temple. In the beginning they were very close friends. Then they were called monks Chow and Chan…

I've got over 100,000 bytes of campaign briefing to clean up and format for posting. But where do I post it, and how do I format it? Genre: I'm seeing Pulp, "other", or Champions here. There are no superheroes in the setting, just heroes, and the PC's aren't among them (for now). The PC's are weaker than your average "normal" human from any modern setting, and they know of a few people who have trained significantly beyond that point, but that's just skills (no magic, superscience, etcetera). Anyone the PC's see exhibiting any sort of superpower (such as a 2" Superleap) would garner a "WTF?" and "Where are the wires?" reaction, at least until they stopped fumbling th…

There's a particular facet of play which I'm thinking may be difficult to convert to HERO: The Shadow. A dark side of the character's psyche, the Shadow is a constant whisper in the ear, able to offer Shadow Dice to enhance the character's abilities, but with the ultimate goal of taking over the character forever. The part that would be difficult to convert is this: In Wraith, your character's Shadow is played by another player.

[i first came up with this idea back in the middle of '04.] Microsoft is trying to control China, a country that currently refuses to accept Microsoft's standards. We'll get back to this. In the name of fighting piracy, Microsoft has introduced a new computing concept, DRM (or Digital Rights Management), which uses virtually unbreakable encryption at the hardware level, along with transparent decoding, to ensure that no music or data file can be read by any computer other than whomever bought it; and also, that no program can be patched to work without being properly registered. The idea behind it is that all data is encrypted, and can be decrypted as …

Hi, as I'm in the process of working more seriously to my Hornblower Hero project ( skills are almost all wrote down...) I'm in dire need of a ship template. As the questionman knows here in Italy vehicles books are nowhere to be seen and I don't feel confident enough to start from the poor guidelines in the basic book. Even in this forum I did not find any basic stats for Age of Sail ship ( but I enjoined a lenghty discussion about time and round during combats that was in some way enlightning). So here I am asking if you have something handy ( a copy and paste) in order to give me a rough idea of the stats involved. By the way I'm relating to a early 1800 Ship o…

I just won Cyber HERO 4th on ebay, and it isn't here yet. I was just wondering what folks thought about it. Should I be excited that it is on its way or dissapointed I paid 5$ for it ($1 plus 4$ shipping)? I picked it up because I recently got Western HERO for almost as cheap and I really liked Western HERO. Certainly a different style from the 5th ed stuff, but overall I thought Western HERO was a good product, and will probably still be useful when we get 5th ed. Western HERO Anyway, my good experience with western hero 4th caused me to buy cyber hero 4th. Will I be just as happy with the cyber book as I am with the western book? Thanks old timers!

Anyone have any writeups for weapons of the American Civil War era? Mostly your handguns, muskets and rifles, but also possibly artillery and melee weapons. I'd check my 4th edition Western Hero for ideas, but I can't find it.

Hey guys, Been thinking of making a HERO conversion of the anime, "Gatekeepers". For those not familiar with the series, here's a short summary of what it is about (As taken from The Wikipedia Article): "The story revolves around the year 1969, a period of time in which Japan is experiencing intense economic and social development at the end of the Second World War. Unbeknownst to the humans, alien beings have emerged with plans to take over the world by sending numerous robotic aliens to wreck havoc in cities, even turning some of the people into robotic minions as well. They are referred to as Invaders. In an attempt to confront these Invaders…
