I'm making a couple of villains right now and they both have a martial art. I have one picked out for the male villain but I want a martial art that seems more feminine then masculine. Any suggestions?

Adjustment Reserve Special/Persistent [Caution Sign] Definition This power allows the character to create a pool of Active Points that can be used to increase a power of a given SFX. The power and SFX must be decided when the pool is purchased. The pool can be expanded to allow more powers or SFX that can be increased by applying Advantages (see below). Pool The points in the pool are used up each time a power is used to increase it's ability. How many points a power draws from the pool is based on the Active Points that power is currently using. Instant Powers draw from the pool each time they are used. Constant powers draw from pool when it is used and at the…

A friend and I are about to start a high powered fantasy campaign.... They're based off of 515 points.... they can have a certain amount of magic items... we can have a max of 6 combat skill levels, 25 max in all stats, magic items are 30 AP and 2 items are 70AP. Now, he has a magic item which gives him +10 dex, and one of his shortswords gives him 2 levels of shrinking with reduced endurance. Now by taking that he gets +4 DCV minus 4 perception to others rolls, but he gets +6 knockback... so let's look at this.... he is normal size.... his weapons do base 1 1/2 d6 so his max is 3d6+1, so he is regular size doing 3d6+1 now... so when he shrinks he does the same damage som…

Copied this from the HERO Questions Forum. I wanted to address the answer in a place I could actually respond. I would say not. You can jerry rig, like Simon says, a Private Adder to represent the OIHID. But Skill Enhancers are like mini power frameworks for skills. Such a drastic change is beyond a simple OIHID. Stylistically I would think that Multiform is the power to use. I know, I know never use a power to represent something a limitation could do better, but in this case the character is getting like the Wisdom of Solomon. Hold on a Sec. Why not buy INT (only to make skill rolls) OIHID instead? Makes the character better at the ski…

It could very well be just me, but I honestly have a little bit of difficulty finding some place comfortable to sit and read the Hero System book. It doesn't balance well on my lap, and all other surfaces are uneven or have something that just gets to me. So basically, I pose this question: How do you all go about reading it, when you're not GMing or using it in a game? Also, hi everyone, I'm new. Just bought the book. Yay.

Starting to put together some pages on general HERO System info and discussions on my website. Most of it will be extracted from posts Ive made on various forums and email correspondence Ive conducted over the years to people asking me questions. I just finished the rough draft of the 1st such document; it is located here: http://www.killershrike.com/GeneralHERO/HeroAnatomy.htm

How about a little project? Something like this: Ok, so we all know about Kicking Ass, it's a pretty common occurance in RPG's. So, what about Taking Names? How would you make a power that allowed a character to "take" someone's name after beating them down? Would it be a special type of Drain? A tranform power? A mental power? Some sort of "Highlander quickening"? What types of limitations would you used? Target has to be reduced to 0 stun first? PC has to inflict x amount of damage? And finally what would be the long-term effect? No memory of their own name? Unable to speak their own name? No one remembers thier name? Or is it more mystica…

I'm trying to create a Guyver-esque type character...(i.e, yells out a word or phrase and transforms into his much more powerful form as a dimentional rift backlash surrounds him, protecting him from harm until the change is complete.) Thing is, I'm kinda confused as to how to construct the dimensional rift backlash effect and whether to link it to the multiform power at all or not. If I did, I still wouldn't know how to go about it... Never really understood linked powers that much. Since the character is personality-wise, still himself after the change, would the skills bought for his human form go towards his alternative form as well? Thanks in advance.

Okay, let's say that I have a guy who can literally sing reality into whatever he wants. I figure that the easiest way to cover this is with a VPP. But now the issues. He must be singing continuously to make the changes he wants. So, that is incantations, but then I add required throughout. But do I add that to the control cost or just the "spells" in the pool? Pros and Cons of both builds sought.

Hallo again a new idea born in this forum (thanks to talking with Ura Maru) to converting Cybersnake from CP2020 into Hero. In CP2020 cybersnake is an independent cyberweapon that sprout from an "hole" artificially created in host body, and attack without control For Hero i've builded it like an "Extra Limb" Cybersnake: Extra Limbs, Limited Manipulation (-¼), Reduced STR (STR 8 -¼), OIF (DEF 3; -½), Non Persistent (-¼), Illegal Cyberware (-½), Humanity Loss (2d6, -1¾) plus HKA ½d6 (1d6 w/STR), No END (+½); Illegal Cyberware (-½), Linked (-½), OIF (-½) 20 Active point 5 Real point This idea transform it in a Hand Killing Attack linked to an…

Strength and Human Weight
by Guest Black Lotus- 5 replies

I've been worrying about Strength and human weight again -- namely, the fact that every adult human is assumed to weigh 100 kg (220 lbs), which is a lot, and that with a STR of 10, you can just barely lift said 220 lb person off the floor and carry them a few feet. Well, theoretically, any adult human female is going to weight HALF of that, or a little more, unless they're fairly tall and/ or overweight. I weigh 220 pounds myself, oddly enough, and I'm 5'8", but I'm quite muscular. Most human females my height are going to weigh half of that.... I mean, 220 lbs is NOT a fair weight to assume for just about any female, and that DOES factor into combat and other…

Next week I'm going to start running an adventure to my group. Up until now I wasn't the GM and we played D&D, but I convinced them to let me run an adventure in HERO. There are 3 players, each with 150-point character. My question is, what point-base I need for building a foe that will be a decent fight for them (considering that there is one foe for 3 characters)? And what point-base I need for building a foe that will be slightly weaker? stronger?

If you read up on Flying Dodge, and the FAQ about it, it seems to be a great manuver for the price. Not only can you abort to a Dodge, but it is also acts like a Dive for Cover that requires no DEX roll to accomplish. You do sacrifice 1 point of DCV (Flying Dodge is +4 DCV instead of +5), but at a cost of 5 character points, its a real bargain. The reason that I bring this up is because my character (a bard, who is acrobatic) has this manuver. Last night when I attempted to use it there was an objection (from one of the other players!), that it was too powerful a manuver and that it should not get to act as a Dive for Cover. I was a little torqued (since this came f…

I have a Disad (or possibly a Lim on all powers, I dunno) I'm working on, and I wonder how best to represent it. Here goes.... Whenever any one of three factors (temperature, light level, humidity/water level) is different from the preferred state (cool, dim, wet) there is a penalty (either the affected abilities are reduced slightly, or it's harder to use them, or the END cost is higher). If two are different, the penalty is greater; if all three are different, all affected abilities are greatly reduced (at least 50%). So if it's a sunny summer day with little to no humidity, the character is screwed; if it's humid it's not so bad, and once the sun goes down it's be…

Urgent, a player question (i jump to example to pose clearly question) Tai Ch'i Ch'uan has this maneuver: Palm Hand/Kick cost: 4 bonus: -1 OCV effect STR+4d6 i may pay 4 point to buy BOTH maneuver (palm hand and kikc) so in combat i may choose wich use (palm hand to use with hand and/or with blade if i buy weapon element, kick to use when my hand are tied and to make a called hit against groin, and like) or i may pay 8 point, 4 for kick, 4 for palm hand?

Okay boyos and gamer girls I have a few questions for you Hero System masters. I just bought Hero System FRed and Star Hero for my sci fi homebrew. I was going to use d20 Modern and d20 Future but I have been using d20 before it was released and got quite tired of it but I am having trouble locating the right material for my campaign. Well, at least material that won't cost me money. I just spent $80 and now my gamer funds are all gone till at least September. I have some Fuzion material like Atomik Cybertek and Atomik Lifepath. They look compatible and would fit my campaign easily enough. I am just wondering if there is any other material you people can sugges…

Okay, I'll admit, it's my lunch hour, HERO 5th Ed. is at home, and I'm not sure if this is answered in there, but... Feng Mo (Wind Spirit) has an EC (or MP) of "Air Control." It is OAF (matched set of folding fans). Take one fan away everything is at 1/2 Power. Take both away, she no longer has access to the EC/MP. How do I model that?

Long story short, I'm building a superhero character named Rave. He was an intense raver who had a whole lot of homemade mind-altering drugs in his body when he was involved in some horrible raving accident... details to be filled in later. So, he's basically only borderline sane and functional now. He has a constant rave going in his mind, and he can project elements of the rave -- dark room with a bright, swirling light show; a confusing throng of people; endlessly pounding, driving music -- into other people's minds. He has a lot of powers related to that, taking the form of Mental Illusions, Ego Attack, Succor, Drain, and Missile Deflection. All but the l…
