I get SO much swag as a freelancer for multiple companies, I rarely sit down and read the books I get. I'm also fiercely independent and wanna create "my own stuff". But occasionally, something I get fits into a current character or storyline that I'm actually gaming. Ultimate Mystic came to me just as I'm running a mystical character named Geist. So. I like to read in the bath, and read it last night. And no. I did not drop it into the water. So, Dean and Hero co., nice job on Ultimate Mystic. Kudos. It reminds me of Ninja Hero. Fairly short and brief in it each section of what it covers, but a lot of plot ideas, info and such clearly spelled out. I l…

As expressed by Ukitsu from BATTLE VIXENS (a.k.a. Ikki Tousen): "Sound like a plan? Sounds about right to me. And that's what counts around these parts. What sounds right to me."

How would you people work a STUN Reduction power that affects both energy and physical damage? Would you buy 2 DRs with Stun Only on them or do you think there are any good arguments for allowing a single STUN only DR that costs the price of one normal DR? eg. 75% Resistant ED DR Cost 60 - STUN Only -1/2 Real Cost 40 75% Resistant PD DR Cost 60 - STUN Only -1/2 Real Cost 40 Total 80 or 75% Resistant PD/ED STUN Reduction - Cost 60 Have at it

Logarithm is a tech based mentalist character. He has a unique ability to transform himself into pure information, and attack computers, mundane electronics, and even a human's brain waves. From here, I'll give him a nice MPP with various mentalist special effects, mind control, ego attacks, etc. The special effect for the character Im going for is that he turns into "virtually" invisible information, and "accesses" the target, taking control of its functions by overriding its previous information... Right now I am simulating his "information form" by taking Invisibility to almost all sense groups (except Radio, which I want to beable to detect me) with no…

Well I thought there are threads for heroes, and villains, and pictures. There are threads for plots so why shouldnt we start a thread for floorplans. Any type of floorplans welcome, maps, buildings, space maps. I know as a GM I would really benefit from some because you never know wht your group is going to do all the time. This is just an apartment to whet some appetites

Inspired by the success of the "Show me the PC" and "the New Circle" threads, I'm throwing out an invitation for all the fulltime, part time and one time GMs out there to post some of their favorite master or mega villains. If you're concerned about players in your group reading the thread, just post a summary, or even an alternate/old writeup. Some general thoughts: a general classification of their capabilities vis a vis superheroes: from 1-12: 1 -- a match for a small(3-4) group of 250 point heroes 2-- a match for a medium(5-7) group of 250 point heroes 3-- a match for a large(8-12) group of 250 point heroes, or a small group of 350 point heroes 4-- a …

Octopus, Centaur... what else? 1 2
by Guest WhammeWhamme- 26 replies

Cool visuals can stick with you. Doc Ock in Spiderman Two, for example, looked _really_ cool. Enough so that I started thinking about creating my own variants on his power set. Looking at a GURPS book I bought for no real reason, I noticed a similiar character; Doctor Centaur (lower body is now a four legged robot). And I thought that was cool. So I thought "You know, I want to think up a variant on the "added cyberlimb" that will be cool and unique". No such luck. The best I could come up with was "Ooh. Snake. One less limb, but it's longer and stronger..." So. Anyone seen characters in this vein that were cool? Or simply have an idea along the…

I'm a curious sort this week, aren't I? As a GM (for those of you who GM), how hardlined are you with things that specifically say "You shouldn't do this without GM's Permission?" Kind of a nebulous question, I know. Under what circumstances have you allowed a technically 'illegal' construction?

House Rules 1 2
by Mightybec- 46 replies

Just wodering what house rules that your gaming group may use to spice up the game. Heres one I thought up on the way to work. If the attacher rolls a 3 on a combat roll, the attack becomes armor piercing. If it is already armor piercing, it becomes penetrating. If it is already penetrating, add three damage classes to the attack. Thoughts?

Attention All Champs GURUS! I still have openings in both UCH and Champions:Generations. You can still use the Hero system 5th ed rules but you can also have the option of playing teen villians. So if you have a PC that you want to Intro into my campaign, please send a HD character file to Herocentral.net and you find both my games in the site.

I'm writing up a character who "evolves" under the stress of combat conditions, becoming progressively more powerful and developing new capabilities with each new progression. I had in mind to do it as a multiform writeup, with the following strictures: 1. each form is progressively more powerful(i.e., built on more points) 2. each stage is progressively harder to attain(takes more time in combat, harsher conditionals, etc.), and no stage can be skipped. 3. each stage beyond the 2nd has an increasingly limited duration(from a few hours down to about a turn at the highest stage). 1st question: how do I build this, generally? 2nd question: do I subtract the mu…

Hey there all, I am trying to build an acid gun that will fire pellets, which will last for a minute after contact with the target. Simple, I know, I just seem to have a bit of an issue getting around the effect of putting continuous (+1) and persistant (+1/2) on a weapon with charges. Here ist the weapon in question. I want to know if it will do what I want as it is now or do I have to change it? Thanks. Acid Pellet Gun: Killing Attack - Ranged 2d6+1, Armor Piercing (+1/2), Persistent (+1/2), Continuous (+1) (105 Active Points); OAF (Focus: Assault Gun; -1), Only In Heroic Identity (Only in Robotic Form; -1/4), 12 Charges (-1/4)

I just purchased Sharper than a Serpent's Tooth and finished reading it. Allen please add mine to the long list of names who loved this product. King Cobra was always a favored villain in my group and I'm glad to see him and COIL handled well in the 5th Ed. The specific reason for this Thread is that as I read through the adventures, there is a suggestion to bulk up COIL's superhuman ranks by stealing from VIPER. I think this is a well stated idea, but I thinking along these lines...what if Cottonmouth had faked his death with help on the inside from Dr. Blank? King Cobra could trust him not to betray him as he had Viper through the use of the COIL Gene and it wo…

I am looking to create a gadgeteer. He's highly intelligent (INT30) has "basic" understanding of various sciences (Computers, Electronics, Mechanics, Inventing, Systems OP; Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics), he's got Lightning Calc, speed reading and edietic memory. I want some other tricks or abilities for him. He's very young, at this point in his career he doesn't have scientific training, it all comes naturally to him. Any ideas? I'm thinking skill levels to cut time based penalties for kitbashing or some such stuff, any one else make X-Men's Forge and what did they do? Thanks in advance

Before I make an official pester to Mr. Long, I thought I'd check out here to see if I was just missing the rule, or if it isn't there, what other people do. Two people coordinate on a target, from approximately the same direction. Both attacks do knockback; how does the knockback distance accumulate? What if they attacked from opposite directions? If it turns out there's a quick page reference for this, I have 5E not 5ER, if that makes a difference.

On Bizarro World, are people of opposite personality only (like I say), or opposite everything (like my wife says)? Yes, this is what I sit around and do with my hot wife all day.

I am currently thinking of an idea for my FF/FW centered character: the ability to summon an autonomous Force Golem. Being inherently lazy, I thought I would see if anyone on the board has made anything similar. I would love to see any sample golems, spirits, djin, etc. that people may have. Thanks for your help!

Creating a Marksman 2 character, son of Donald Henderson. He's got the MarkVIII sonic cannon, left to him by dear old 'da. 90 active points, and so far I've got a 6d6 major transform- permanent deafness, 6 shots with 14 or less Burnout. What I need now are some more ideas besides just the easily designed 'sonic blast" powers...

Despite being a self-proclaimed know-it-all, and a huge Daredevil comic book fan (disliked the movie I gotta say), I have no idea what superpowers Typhoid Mary has. Anyone got a clue for me? And if there's a difference, I prefer the comic version to the movie version. ty in advance

Dorian Gray
by Guest The Comet- 18 replies

After watching the first few minutes of LXG I decided my time would be better spent whipping myself for past misdeeds rather than suffer any more of it. It did, however have an intruiging character in it. Dorian Gray (spelling?) Anyway I understand he is immortal and his imortality is linked to a portrait of him that grow old instead of him. Appart from that, thats about all I know. Anyone have any info on him? Maybe a character writeup. Not sure if this query belongs in Champions genre but he seemed like a "Gaslight" superhero to me.

Hello Hero People. In a few days, i will be GMing a initiation game to Hero. The theme is super-heroic with a strong manga influence. i will build the characters myself and then give them to the players. One of my future players wants to play Ichigo “Strawberry” Kurosaki, a character from the manga "Bleach". a tiny problem : i don't know anything of this manga/anime. From what I read on the Net, this guy is something named a "soul reaper" : He has the ability to see ghosts and spirits (detect ghosts, sense, sight group) He has the ability to touch spirits ( Strength, affects desolid) He can create a sword to fight/hurt ghosts (HKA, affects desol…

Number Two Son is designing a headquarters for a possible game. He wants some low level metahumans to staff it. We decided that the housekeeper should be a agoraphobic with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and area effect telekinesis with no conscious control. He enters a room, it begins to straighten itself up. Number Two Son decided he should be a Morlock, offered asylum in the HQ after a near nervous breakdown trying to keep the tunnels tidy. As most Morlocks have distinctive features, we need one that hasn't been done to death. Personally, I'm leaning toward Tyrannosaurus arms (arms disproportionally small compared to rest of body, hands about w…
