Today I ran across a situation I didn't really know how to adjudicate. I could use some help on this one for future situations. A speedster was making a move by attack on a segment in which his target didn't move. The target aborted and threw up (not the vomit type) a force wall as a defense. Since the speedster was moving so quickly, should he have ran into the force wall (it isn't invisible)? Would he just be able to move around it if he had enough movement? Would he have to abort his action to avoid the force wall?

Im designing an Atypical super mage his spells are computer based magic as cheat codes for the universe. one of the powers/power set I wanted to build for his VPP was a TRON style light cycle now the bike itself is pretty easy just extra running with a combat driving roll and a possibly with a linked force field. but i can't work out how to do those nifty energy walls that follow the Tron bikes around any ideas?

Thanks everyone for looking into this thread. Just a quick question or three: 1. In the Mystic Worlds Book (forget the real name right now), it's noted that the Skarn character, unlike others with VPP's, can use his VPP to agument his multipower spells? Was this a mis-statement or true? That gives him about a 250 active point attack potentially! Since he already has high stats and a defensive MP he just needs to point to crack a small planet. By the rules, can someone add the points into a VPP into another power with the exception of an aid or succor power? Even then, that could be asking for trouble. 2. Witchcraft's example powers for her VPP notes a bo…

Mental power that only works versus and unconscious or sleeping target. Sounds pretty common. But not being able to use it against an attacking group of foes until you've knocked them unconscious or unless they lay down and take a nap, isn't too common. Assume the character's M.O. is to seek out sleeping targets.

My copy still isn't here (I love FRP games, but you'd think I'd remember that they are slow) so I had some quick questions on Black Mask. 1) Her costume. What does she have on her legs? The cover photo crops at about mid thigh, so any guesses I make costume wise from there down are just that, guesses. 2) What is her fighting style? I'm hoping she is a decentish high dex dodging gun shooting babe, but heck, she might be a brick for all I know. 3) I can see what colors the costume is on the cover, but does that match the character description? As is probably obvious from the nature of the questions, I have some ideas on how to make a mini of her, b…

I saw this pic and thought "Why hasn't this been used as a team plane for some superhero group yet?" Ah, the good old days of the Cold war when we had a decent amount of high speed big recon planes or bombers on the drawing board at any given moment.

Archmage Stats 1 2 3

Unfortunately, my old mystic masters (4th edition) is at my mother's house so I don't have access to its stats on the archmage or his pupil. I am looking to pick up the new mystic book though (too bad it's not at my local store... gotta special order it I guess). I was wondering if it had stats for any of the past arch mages (since there is none in the current 5th edition CU) or advice for how to create one? On that subject, does anyone have advice for how to construct a proper arch mage for the CU? I remember that Mystic Masters used both VPP's and MP's... have anyone utilized this or found a better way to make a Dr. Fate or Dr. Strange? Thanks!

Dr. Uffman was staring at yet another dead rabbit. His assistant offered up a bit of consolation. "Well, at least this one actually went all the way through." That was true. Lord knows how many rabbits were floating out there in the ether, having gone in one side of the teleportation chamber and then never appearing out the other side. Dr. Uffman was completely stumped. His theories were solid. Every prototype teleportation device he built from scratch worked flawlessly, all of them. But he couldn't seem to mass produce them. Well, forget mass production, no one else could even reproduce his results, nor could he simplify his constructs. The basi…

On page 258 of 5E it says, "To perform a Move Through, the attacker must make an Attack Roll against his target, modified for his velocity." I can't find anywhere in the book where velocity's effects on OCV is discussed. I can find the effect on DCV and the effect on damage. Is the sentence referring to the target's velocity or the attacker's velocity? What am I missing?

Have you ever tried playing a permanently tal or otherwise large hero? Someone large enough to have trouble fitting into a house, for instance. What was it like? What were the good parts and bad parts of such a character? What RP opportunities did it present, and which ones were harder to come by?

This is your last warning. If you have not seen the movie, and don't want to read any spoilers, then leave this thread. If we ruin the movie for you, it is your own stinking fault. If you haven't seen it yet, your first priority should be to go to a theatre and watch it. Now. S P O I L E R S F O L L O W OK. I loved this movie. Given the normal way such twists work out in the genre, I thought Mirage's change of heart was a refreshing switch, as was the fact that she didn't end up dead. Did anyone notice what her superpowers were? (Do you think she had any powers?) Given the way she comes and goes, it might be the a…

Ok, this may seem silly, but I'm on a hunt for scenery and vehicles for use in my Champions game. A few come readily to mind: Heroclix (we all know this one) including the Indoor and Outdoor Adventure Packs Matchbox or Hotwheels Cars and Trucks (actually appropriate matches for comparable hex sized vehicles) Fast Lanes (a new line of cars and trucks offered by Toys R Us -less expensive than the above two, and more realistic in my opinion, though scale varies slightly among the vehicles) see also some of their construction playsets. What other toys and playsets have you guys found that fit the Champions 1" Hex scale well for Terrain and Scene…

And I'm not sure what to do about it. I'm not sure what sort of law officer would be most appropriate (not knowing much about the setup in the US) whether the government would be agreeable, whether a new post should be created etc. The background: Superheroes have only been around for about 10 months. There are only about half a dozen in existence (along with a much larger number of supervillains, most of those currently in custody). The PCs have good relations with the government. In particular they have the ear of the Secretary of the Dept of Homeland Security, having been called in by him when a small town in Tennessee tried to secede from the union. (They defeate…

Greetings to all--To cut to the chase, I've got a flock of mainly newbies assembled, and a campaign starting in January. I've never had to run a superhero game for those not experienced with superhero RPG's (or champions for that matter) before--maybe one or two people, but the whole group was there to help out. Now the majority is not only familiar with Champions, but perhaps even less expeirienced with superheros than past groups I've ran. I've been a Champs fan/superhero fan forever. So, I want to make this as easy as possible. I'm going to run a default campaign--established champions universe, to keep things simple, so if they do decide to start buying loa…

Just got home from my first run of my Teen Champions game. It was an experiment of sorts ... my players designed the 'people', their background and all that. However, with their consent, I picked out and designed the character's powers, and they began the game with no knowledge of the abilities they would gain. For my part, I also had to clue them in as best I could during the crash on their developing power, which was the hard part. I was impressed, really, by their RPing ... good displays of fear during the vehicular crash/impending explosion, fear and shock and more than a little denial at the gaining of superpowers, concern, everything. The quote of the…

Just trying to figure out the best way to have my Egyptian type bad guy basically reach out toward a character, and cover him with scarabs that do about 1-3d6 STUN until the character takes time to swat them away or whatever. I'd also like to make it sticky so that if someone attempts to help him, they get on him too. I just cant think of what power to build it with. Constant energy blast? Drain? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I would go about building someone who was carrying a virulent plague that infected a very, very small portion of the population (though anyone can be a carrier) and transformed in such a way as to cause the affected victims to manifest super powers. I understand that Transform might be the obvious way to go here, but the changes to the victims are permanent and quite possibly powerful. I'll admit trying to figure a way to do this is making my head hurt. Any ideas?

When my friends ask me where my campaign ideas come from, I tell them "I read... a LOT." Generally, I don't have much difficulty moving a story from one genre to another. All that being said, I haven't read comics in decades. Now I'm trying to run a Champions game (also, for the first time in about 12 years), and have realized one annoying little fact: I've forgotten how to make a superhero game FEEL like a superhero game. Anyone here have any suggestions for a mid/late Iron-age setting? Questions, answers, debates, suggested reading (esp. graphic novels) all appreciated. Thanks lots! John T

This is my first post (been lurking for awhile) so hello to everyone. As far as the character goes Blink is a young woman (17) and speedster. Background isn't worked out because everyone in the campaign has amnesia but the bit I have decided while building her is that she was a high school student who worked as a waitress while she went to school. Anyway just would like some feedback on how I built her powers. I tried to make most stuff linked to her superspeed in someway hence the limitation on most of her powers named speed affect witch is described below. Powers “Fast as all hell†– VPP:Speed Force (60 Point Pool/60 Point Control); Change…

Hey everyone, I am in need of a Zex map for my GM to use this Friday in our game so we wont have to use a tape measure to figure distances. Does anyone have a link to a free printable plain 1" Hex Map?
