Crossposted Sorceror Conversion
by Guest WhammeWhamme- 3 replies

I figure that with his power level, and the fact that D&D sorcery feels more like superheroic magic than ACTUAL fantasy magic (Ooh, I have named spells and magic items in abundance...!), he belongs here as much s anywhere. So... Amazingly, I've finally finished my conversion of the level 31 Sorceror I solo'd BG2 and TOB with (okay, okay, so I cheated on the last two battles - I knew what I needed to do to win, I just didn't have the patience to prove it). Anyway, here he is. (The Summons/Shapeshift are simply as powerful a summon as the relevant AP's stretched to, the Slayer form is him, minus spells, plus 300 points of Hand to Hand goodness.) (Oka…

Let's Talk CvK 1 2 3

Yes, I know we've had other threads on this topic. One of my players gave me a really bizarre interpretation, and I'm wondering if anyone else has run across this one. I'm running a Golden Age Champions game. The player in question was talking with another player outside the game, and her reaction was "let's check this interpretation with the GM". This should be an accurate representation, even though I got most of it from the other player, because Player In Question was sitting right there -- and while he's getting a few points for his speech impediment, there's nothing wrong with his ears. 1) 20 points CvK means the character must actively oppose war by all…

You know ... superhero duos with names like Cloak and Dagger, or Hammer and Anvil. Anybody else come up with any good combos like that that I could steal ... er, that could inspire me? Right now, my best one is Twist (either a spinning-speedster or a dimension warper with 'twisting' visual effects) and Shout (sonic scream). Anybody else got any good ones?

OKay a newbie player has come up with a cool character concept. A young man given time powers by Himself (as an old man). One power is that he want's to freeze someone in time, so time doesn't pass for them. How would I model this? I'm of 2 minds myself; my first idea was a mental entangle. But as I thought it didn't quite fit. So my second thought was a Transform, but I'm not sure what level. Except for being frozen in time (it would automatically wear off in a day if not dismissed sooner) nothing changes. SO Minor or Major? What would you do?

While looking for something else, ran across this. Very nice summary, could be a great resource for GMs bringing in players unfamiliar with the superhero genre. An excerpt: (edit) Gee, I guess I should add a link: Wikipedia Superhero definition/article

Okay I'm building a character with a large number of undefined multiforms who is able to clone other people he comes in physical contact with. Once he clones them he basically copies their intire character sheet as one of his available multi-forms, complete with psychological limitations. Now the kicker is that I want to work in some sort of limitation on the power so that the more personalities he abosorbs the crazier he gets. I was thinking like maybe a -1 to perception checks or possibly all intellegence based rolls per 2 or 4 personalities he clones becuase each personality becomes something of a voice inside his head once he clones them. The voices only affec…

I'm starting a new campaign in the Spring, and I'm planning something a little fruity. I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried a similar scheme or just has some thoughts they'd like to share. First off, there will be no pre-established AP, DC, Spd, CV or other limits. Once all the characters have been submitted, they will be considered in comparison to one another, and tweaks will be suggested and/or required. Additionally, the players will be encouraged to choose a "signature power" or shtick. This can be a single Power or tightly defined suite. The more they screw themselves in other areas, the more I'll let them get away with in their shtick. Yes, I'm driv…

I started a Thread in the Hero System discussion section and it almost changed to a campaing setting discussion. Which is fun, but I thought i'd start adding my campaing material here. It will also make it's appeareances on my personal web site soon. I don't know at what speed I will update this section but I will do so at my pace. [i will update this post when I am completely done with the history but I will tell you, in subsequent posts, when I make updates here.] Your feedback will be appreciated be it good or bad. If the history seem cloudy on some aspect, do not hesitate to ask for clarifications. It will help me make sure that all is clean. Other…

I’ve picked up my copy of The Ultimate Mystic on Friday and skimmed through it before really starting to read it Saturday. I’ve never read The Ultimate Super-Mage and I don’t remember reading anything else by Dean Shomshak, so here’s my first impression. Shomshak starts off by explaining that he doesn’t intend to offend anyone’s religious beliefs but no religion gets any special treatment. From my reading, that means he adopts the Joseph Campbell approach and describes magic and religion in terms of the common symbolism found among all the peoples of the world. The book is patterned after Mystic Masters, but is far more detailed with a lot more ideas f…

Yeah, I have a basic question. Sort of. I am trying to create a character that is based multiforms. The character would have it's base, human form then the super hero form and then a phoenix form. A human sized phoenix form. What kind of characteristics would you give a phoenix? I mean str, dex, con, bod, etc? Can some one give me a place to start, I think i could ge the rest. If this sounds confusing, I'm sorry. Oh, and I am using 5th ed if that matters. And sorry again, I double posted this thing because I think I put the other one in the wrong area.

Not really a moral or tactical situation more of a writing/role playing thing. Take one of the other characters (Either WWYCD or otherwise presented on the board) and have them meet your character(s). Describe what the encounter might be like, even a breif summary of the "issue" itself. Only a few rules/guidelines 1. Must a character presented as a PC. 2 Don't kill off/maim/utterly humilate the the other character without asking permission of their writer (Player) first. 3 have fun with it, think like a comic writer, play with power levels if you have to to make things interesting.

I'm looking for build suggestions on a taunt ability, either as a power, or possible ways to represent this with high stats or skills. The first idea I have would be a presence attack and the second is a transform that would give the target a disad that was a total psychological limitation making the target want to avenge any wrongs to his honor or something like that. Any suggestions?

Aquaman can talk to fish, and also other aquatic animals, such as whales. Whales are mammals... but he can't talk to other mammals, such as elephants? Come on! WTF!? I'm getting warmed up now.

Ages ago I started a meta-plotline in my Champions game that lasted nearly five years. The main adversary was a version of DEMON that was based on Classic Organizations DEMON but enhanced with my own characters and ideas. I really liked the idea of the Inner Circle including different magical backgrounds. I decided that each Inner Circle member ran a branch of DEMON but had access to the DEMON technology, artifacts and wealth. I took the building blocks of Doctor Wu and created the Immortal sorcerer Blood Dragon. At his right-hand was a man named Blood Finger. He was a fiercely loyal but very sadistic martial arts master. Blood Dragon's goal was to build an ancient…

Okay, as per the discussion in this thread, I'm going to be running a matchup of Viperia against the Champions similar to the one I ran between Mechanon & said Champions. However, to avoid any arguments of partiality here, I need someone else to define what Witchcraft's VPP looks like going into the fight. In fact, on closer examination I may need *two* builds. See, at the start of the fight I'll be making appropriate KS & Deduction rolls for both sides -- so it's possible Witchcraft goes into the fight knowing Viperia's weakness to magic and with relation to END, and it's possible she doesn't. I'm planning to run it Sunday or Monday. Thanks i…

Got a chance to read this today. I think the story is heading in an interesting is slightly predictable direction. You learn a bit more about what's going on behind the scenes and it still seems like The Authority is, by and large, on the side of the angels but their opposition isn't -total- scum. Not quite and at least played intelligently and seemingly powerful enough that it won't be another cake walk with inevitable confrontation comes. There's some interesting team interaction and evidence of how the group's dynamic has changed since Jenny Sparks died. I think Paul Revere (as he calls himself) is a great example of the Aberrant ability "Mega Charisma" Favorite…

If an attacker moves behind his target on a segment in which the target can't move, is the target's DCV reduced to 1/2? Would the target have to abort an action to turn around and have full DCV?

Likely all heroes have had Role-models. Their dad? The local cop? The superhero who saved them from a burning building? The vigilante who gunned down an entire crack house? Who is or was your hero's inspirational hero?

Greetings all, At the start of our current campaing, I created a big corporation, similar to Genom in Bubblegum crisis, called ENN (Exercitus Nox Noctis, words meaning Army of the night in latin, at least I guess so. The only problem is the "of the" I don't really know how to write that in Latin, anyway, I'm off the real point). This corporation is coming from an alternate future and they thought they could go back in time to fix incredible damages done to earth by aliens in their time. But once they came to this time and dimension, they soon noticed that they were not in the correct past and were somehow stuck on our world unable to return to their time. I had…
