I have been surfing the web for about 20 minutes trying, unsucessfully, to find a good picture of a SWAT trooper in full gear. I want this so I can attach some character for a generic Assault Agent in my Dark Champions Campaign. All the art I have found so far are groups of people, or else they have large Police, etc. symbols on their uniforms. It does not have to be a picture, a good bit of art or cartoon would work just as well. Any body got any good art or links that they would be willing to share?

Our GM is starting a 1930's Dark Champion game. Limits are 125 Character Points plus 100 Disads for a total of 225. I have come up with a concept but not sure I have figured out a good distribution of points. Are there any ready made Reporter/Vigilante type characters on the internet? (A Detective/Vigilante would be the same thing)... I have surfed but only came up with Characters that have super powers and made with way more points. I need something like The Punisher...no powers other than maybe fast healing... HERO Games needs to put out a book with just Character concepts and suggested Character Point distribution... Sure would be handy... …

Has anyone else here had problems getting the Dark Champions books? I have tried several stores here in Las Vegas to see if they can order the Dark Champion book and they all tell me it's out of print. Unfortunately, we are getting ready to play a Dark Champions game here...It appears I may have to use my old DK book and fake it....

Herodom Assembled, My strong suite as a GM is being able to write well, but one my areas of improvement is my creativity. Hence, I'm enlisting your help. I'm doing a one-shot game (that could actually run a few evenings if necessary) at GenCon this year for two of my best friends. I'd really like it to turn out well, so that it's memorable for all. I have some background ideas for what I'd like to do, but am hoping that you all can give me some ideas on how to make the story and background better. So here goes: PCs: Probably 125-150 + 50-100 pts in disadvanges (these will be beginning Daredevil and Spidey-like characters, but no EBs, teleporting, etc.) …

Why, oh why? I flip through Hudson City, only to find that the Harbinger of Justice has been neutered! Where is the 40 Dex guy I remembered? Now I see he has a lower Dex than Nightduck??? No!!!!!

With DC:TAS done and off my plate, I've got the chance to get an early start on Predators, our Dark Champions book of bad guys. So, I thought I'd start a brief "what do you want to see?" thread. Generally speaking, it's a book of villains. There'll be a crimelords section, a section of groups/organizations, and a section of "solo" bad guys. As with CKC, there'll be a wide mix of character types. It's all pretty straightforward, but I thought I'd start this thread in case anyone had any ideas they felt like expressing.

I'm looking to start up a Dark Champions game, and I'd like to be able to easily show my players which options we will and won't be using. This includes not only things like Hit Location, but also some of the optional ways to use skills in DC. I recall back in the fourth edition that there was a sheet that had the various levels of morality, the darkness of the game, etc - as well as a list of options. Is there one for fifth? And more importantly, is there one that encompasses the variety of optional rules for DC? Thank you...!

Thinking about a trainer campaign for myself, wife, and two kids. I would like to take them from the early days of basic training, through a spec ops career and end up with some Hudson City vigilantes. I kind of like the progression because I can gradually add in rules and build the characters through the basic training process and on up. Can anyone give some suggestions for a novice group starting up, maybe some resources that would be useful for this?

Dark Champions: Hudson City Chaos is PBEM game set in Hudson City after the assassination of the Harbinger of Justice unleashes anarchy on the streets. Rival gangs are in open war, criminals of every sort are flooding in from around the country and the world, the police and the courts are utterly overwhelmed and helpless, and the tide of lawlessness threatens to swamp the city entirely…unless a new generation of vigilantes can turn that tide and restore order. You are those new vigilantes, men and women willing to risk their lives to turn back the darkness and bring justice to those who think themselves beyond the law. Hudson City Chaos will be using Hero Syste…

This character was created for a near(?)-future setting. Ignore the stuff about starships and the like and he'd fit into nearly any modern day game.

Barring the long lived or immortal heroes out there, an interesting scenario for a campaign would be post retirement heroes. Ether they live in world where (supposedly) most of the troubles have been put to rest or have signed out for the younger generation. Either way, for some reason something from thier past drives them out. Now they have to deal with retraining thier skills, dealing with lower back pain and younger hotshots who lack any experience. Sorry if the idea has crept up before. But would make for a good suppliment for Champions.

I like some of the dark champions characters like Harbinger and Card Shark and I want to use them in Champions but all there powers dont apply like the resource points. So how would you represent the resource points in a Champions campaign were you have to pay for everything.

hey gang, FINALLY getting my Dark Champs campaign off the ground... and I would love to find a source for those neat numeric dispatch codes you hear people toss around on crime shows. I want the campaign cranked up to maximum grittiness and this will be just another way to get that feel. And if there's a similar thing for paramedics/Fire Dept. that would be great, too. Will give Rep to whomever helps - is someone can explain the Rep system to me! Personally keeping the streets full of human filth, C:sneaky:rPse

The "war on terror" ended but there was a depression, worse then that of 1929. This was a total economic collapse ! The United States fell apart into disassociated cities with little to no central government. Sometime later the Players will enter one such town in an effort to; reclaim that greatness that has fallen into darkness. Campaign name: RECLAMATION Power Level: HERO (powerful) I'm thinking a Shadowrun-ish style game. It still needs work but I wanted to see how it looked so far.

I was wondering if anyone considered the possibility of having "Dark Champions" characters meet "Dark Champions: The Animated Series" characters. Or, conversely, having "TAS" characters meet their darker, more violent counterparts... "He's just like me, but... cuddly?" Killing Attacks Changed to Normal Attacks Firearm SFX changed to "Blast of light" SFX Physical Limitation: Code Against Killing (Note that this is not a -psychological- limitation - it's a physical one.) Physical Limitation: Cannot Curse Physical Limitation: Cannot Mention Religion (Seriously! They changed the line for Skeets in JLU to "My gosh, it's full of stars!" …

I was thinking the other day how much I enjoy Andrew Vachss's novels as Dark Champions inspiration, and I figured it might be helpful to start a thread about what y'all find inspirational for the genre. So, leaving aside the obvious (technothrillers by the likes of Clancy and Bond, spy thrillers by the likes of Fleming, LeCarre, and Ludlum, mysteries by all sorts of people), what sort of novels, short stories, etc. have y'all found good as Dark Champions inspiration or source material?

Hitman

I was pleasantly surprised by the Hitman series from Eidios for the PC and Playstation, far from the mindless shooter game I expected (nothing wrong wth mindless) it actually has an interesting plot that would not be bad for a small 1 or 2 player DC game. Throughout you are not really sure of the reasons for your missions or if you are doing right or wrong, and there is alot of mystery about your own background. It reminded me a little of the movie The Professional too. Has anyone else played through this series and had similar thoughts?

Steve, I snagged my copy of HC yesterday and have been drooling over it since. Very nicely done. Perhaps you've addressed this already in another thread that I missed, but is there any chance of DOJ publishing the Hudson City maps in a larger format? It would be very handy to either have a full poster-sized version like a real city map or 8½ x 11" maps (perhaps a pdf?) of each grid square and/or individual neighborhood (Little Italy, Freetown, etc.). The maps in the book are first rate, but they're a bit tough on these middle-aged eyes and a version I could read without a magifying glass or maybe put down in the middle of our gaming table for all to see would be tr…

A nice thing about Hero is that suggestions for doing things in one genre can have similar uses in other ones. One of the suggested Fantasy Hero magic systems involved characters buying spells by taking a spell's real cost and then dividing it by a number like 3 or 5 to see how much it cost in character points. Has anyone ever considered trying this with the costs of Dark Champions superskills? If this is done, it brings down the points needed for characters to have a few cool abilities. Or am I a heretic for suggesting this?
