Someone had mentioned that they were looking for generic street-level thugs. Below I will be posting the old generic thugs from the 4th Edition sourcebook Justice, Not Law. I have slightly modified the write-ups for 5th Edition. This is also the first time I have tried to post with this export template so I hope it works.I will be posting a zip file with the HD files after I finish posting the 4 characters. Street Thug (Type 1) (Click to toggle display) Character created with Hero Designer, version 2.41 -- interim build Combat Information Page Character Name: Street Thug…

I was wondering why Hero Games chose to name the book "Dark Champions?" Afterall, the book isn't only about superheroic campaigns and doesn't focus on dark, gritty settings either. "Modern Hero" or "High Tech Hero" would have seemed more appropriate.

In the main Dark Champions Book is a table of ranks for the military, The bit that gets under my skin is the idea that a 2 Lt is a more valuable perk than the a Chief Master Seargent of the Air Force, the officer and enlisted corp do not stack on top of each other, while the officer corp gets paid more and are in command postions the lower officer ranks (O-1, O-2) are as influential as the mid enlisted (E-4 through E-6) range IME

The new .460 S&W magnum. It is ONLY in the monster revolver they made for the .500, and it is a lenghtened .454 casull, basically. It can use .45 Colt OR .454 CASULL as "REDUCED LOADS"!!! It generates 65,000 PSI chamber pressure, and drives a 200 grain bullet at 2200 FPS!!! out of a bloody pistol! That pressure is so high you can't put it in most lever action rifles. wow.

Has anyone had any luck with trying a DC game over e-mail. I am currently not able to play now because of my school/work schedule in my usual gaming group, and they are talking about setting up a PBEM to accomodate my gaming desires. Has anyone else gotten this to work to any luck? Has anyone been in a game that failed miserably? Any suggestions for when we do this that I can pass along? Thanks, Jonathan

As you probably already know, we took Dark Champions Battlegrounds off the 2005 schedule because the Battlegrounds books have generally had lackluster sales. Nevertheless, I still hope someday to do DCB. For fun tonight I'm fiddling around with some ideas, and I figured I'd solicit peoples' opinions. My currently plan would be to make the book something similar to FHB, in that it would have three main scenarios, followed by a section of a dozen or so lesser locations/scenarios. It's the main scenarios I'm interested in at this point; we can talk about the other stuff later. One of the main scenarios will definitely be a reworking of Harpcor Towers, the main adve…

Just bought DC. Love it for the most part (although the index is a little over spaced for a HERO book - it looks like you could have crammed in another page of text. Any response from the layout team?) Two thoughts on Skill Tricks so far. 1.) Does "I've Got You Covered" seem over priced? I like the idea of using Invisible Power effects as a special effect for a cover/fastdraw idea. But 30 points to do this? That ability seems powered more at 5 or 10 points. Now, I know the GM rule "Do it however you want", but how would I create this ability with HERO and have it be more fair in terms of cost? Or am I missing some factor that makes this worth about hte sa…

Here's a question for all of you Firearms experts: How would you build this? A big-assed double-barrel pump-action Shotgun that can simultaneously fire a solid slug from one barrel and those regular shotgun scatter pellets from the other. Thanks!

I'm trying to create a new character for a Dark Champions campaign; and I've decided it would be intriguing to play a mystic character who is a Roman Catholic priest and Jesuit. Now whipping up a few magical-type combat spells is easy; what I'm having trouble with is determining what kind of "holy" powers such a character might also possess? What kind of (literally) God-given abilities to combat supernatural evil might a holy warrior/priest wield in such a campaign? Ideas?

Hi, I have never actually played Hero before, but I have Dark Champions and Hero Revised. I have read most of the rules, but I have a couple of questions. The first one must seem very basic and silly to people who know the game more than me, but I'm still not sure on this. What do I roll when it says, for example, 4 1/2 D6? Do I roll 4d6 and divide by 2 or something? The second question is a bit more complicated. Firearms in Hero are treated as a Ranged Killing Attack, right? But the maximum range of firearms, is that Active Cost times 5''? This seems a bit silly to me. Here is an axample: Barrett Model 82A1, which fires .50 caliber rounds have an acti…

I recently helped a friend put together a Dark Champions character, and I was struck by how a couple of the superskills worked in combination, namely "Disappearing Act" and "Ultimate Stealth" as an example. As long as the character can keep making Stealth rolls, she can zip around the battlemat area like a phantom with the vanishing teleport of "Disappearing Act" since the invisibility provided by "Ultimate Stealth" means no one can see her, which is very movie ninja-like. Has anyone else come across any combinations of abilities which are pretty potent? I thought a thread on such and their uses might be helpful to others.

Writer Anthony Zuiker never in his dreams imagined that when he created a police drama about a team of forensic detectives, he was tapping into a previously untapped part of the American consciousness. Crime dramas and detective stories have always been part of American fiction, but only a handful of stories have truly focused on the scientific part of policework. CSI:Crime Scene Investigation debuted on CBS in 2000, and quickly swept the nation as the next great American television series. A big part of the success of the show can be attributed to film star William Petersen's portrayal of the enigmatic Gil Grissom, the reclusive and brillant night-shift supervisor of Las…

I was just watching a DaVinchi code thing on the history channel (jusus was married, had a daughter, church cover up for 2k years, knight templar, etc...) and it got me thinking, this could be a really cool modern/dark cahmpions idea...the last of the 'blood royal' (jesus' line) today, hunted by dark forces, has uncontrolable power (but maifest for 'good' deeds only) and doesn't realize who she/he is !! our dark champions characters stumble into this 2000 year drama and get stuck in the middle....dark forces on one side want to kill the decendant, and so do the church(s) to keep the truth buried and the world in general hasn't a clue !!! a bit sacriligious sure, bu…

Hi all, First off while I know Hudson City is complete I have to add a small begging on my kneees moment please Steve please tell me you kept in Jack!! That done on with my post. Alright, I'm planning to run Hudson City Blues for a group of first timers of the system/genre. I would like to run superheroic (points buy everything) rahter than heroic as a dissuasion to gun bunnies which ruled the roost last time I ran. I'm thinking 225 points inclusive of 150pts disadvantages. Can anyone make recommendations to other limits. (I'm thinking spd 4, 50 active points in offense, no more than 8 resistant def, no superpowers/maybe minor). Also i have a playe…
