Hey, folks, I need a small favor! I’m trying out a new online quiz/assignment site, and I need some people to complete a quiz game so that I can see what the data looks like. So if you don’t mind, please take a few minutes (10 or less) and go here: Website: join.quizizz.com Game code: 751984 There are 10 general science questions for you to answer. If you could do this before tomorrow, Wednesday, June 27th at 11:45 pm MDT, that would be great. And if you’d be willing to come back here and leave feedback when you’re done, that would be even better! Thanks in advance for your help!

The Premise: A notorious supervillain has got his hands on time travel technology. He’s spent several months (or years? Decades?) just wandering around time and space, observing, studying, and taking notes. He’s even tried making subtle changes at key times, just to see what the effects would be. Now, after his long and arduous research, he is ready to strike. He is assembling a team of like-minded individuals to strike at key points in history to change the shape and flow of time and space. His ultimate goal? To take over the Universe, to rule and reign over the past, the present, and the future. Someone needs to stop him. To this end, heroes from across …

Let's say that, for whatever reason, you have been given complete creative control of the Avengers. Who's on your team, and why? (Traditionally, Avengers membership has been limited to around six members per team at any one time. You can change that if you'd like, of course.) Who have you got?

So again our school had the once every two year travel club voyage (SJET Sir John Europe Trip), and this year was Italy and Croatia. So first Rome: The Pantheon, The Piazza Navarro, some Pizza, The Colosseum, the market at the Campo Fiori, the Ponte and Castel San Angelo, some Spaghetti, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and finally St Peters where we went to the top of the DOME!

I want a new box that will I never, ever, not even once, connect to the internet. Period. Background: My main machine at home now is 20 years old or so, and there's a fair chance it'll die the next time I boot it up. The machine is literally a castoff: it was bought new by a friend in the late 1990s, then given away by that friend in early-to-mid 2000s; I think it had been a Windows NT machine in that previous life. He was happy not to have to pay a recycling fee to get it off his hands. Yes, he scrubbed off all the sensitive information that had been on it first, but since he knew something about my habits he didn't break himsel…

So what's your dirty little geek secret? I imagine we all have one. Some iconic thing, beloved in geek culture, that we've never seen or read or done or been into. Maybe you've never read The Lord of the Rings. Maybe you didn't like The Lord of the Rings. Maybe you've never owned a comic book, or played D&D, or been to any kind of geeky convention. C'mon, 'fess up... It'll be good for your conscience. I'll go first... I've never seen so much as a single episode of Doctor Who in any incarnation.

On a thread about animated superhero movies someone brought up the old superman movie serial cartoon episode "the mechanical monsters" which was an undeniable masterpiece of very old school animation and a very influential cartoon as it may have contained the first consistent, animated, transforming robot. While it's not really possible to deny that this cartoon, and the series it was in, was a masterpiece of animation and deserves a place in cinematic history, and it would be very hard o find anything objectionable about this episode, the same can't be said for other episodes. I've seen all the episodes of this beautuifilluy animated and…

Honestly, if were up to me, May would be proclaimed Star Wars Month. Not only was George Lucas himself born on May 14th, but the first six movies were all released on May 25th of their release year--same date as Solo: A Star Wars Story will be released. May the Force be with us all throughout the month of May. And Thank You Always, Mr. Lucas.

In this topic, we'll discuss just how you obtain your nutrition. I understand that this type of discussion likely only appeals to those of you who are sufficiently bored or enthusiastically chatty about your chow. That's fine; i'll take what I can get ?. --- --- --- 1. From the choices below, please guesstimate the percentage of sustenance you derive from each one during a typical week. I'm not explicitly including "at work" as an option, but feel free to mention if you do and, if you do, where your meal(s) fall under in terms of quality. Fast food joints (such as Burger King and Taco Bell). This includes snacks from vending machines, …

Get off that pine pony, it's the Back Benchers Unite Superdraft! I know how Superdrafts work. What makes this any different? Here, we'll be drafting comic book heroes. The trick is, I have here a list of 100 banned heroes. You can't draft any of them. This was a list of Superheroes by comic book appearances, making it a rough list of who is most popular. (it looks like Marvel heroes, and X-Men in particular, are overrepresented, but I didn't make the list and I'm too lazy to make my own.) Thus, this is a draft for the less popular and well known heroes; the back-benchers, if you will. https://www.ranker.com/list/superheroes-ranked-by-most-comic-bo…

We have threads for the other sports, so why not hockey? I admit that it's a niche audience around here, but why not? The regular season has started. In the first game I got to watch, the Jets (who are considered a team on the rise, as are most of the Canadian teams) got thrashed in their home opener by another young, hungry Canadian team in the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs, an Orinigal Six franchise with a proud history but recent woes, are certainly on the rise. If they can keep focused and keep their young superstar Austin Mathews healthy, they could be going places. Another team on the rise is Edmonton. The Oilers look solid and deep, and Connor McDavid is r…

I ask here because I figure that some of you somehow might remember this. Sometime between around 1979 and 1985 (I'm not sure when, honestly, so I'm giving my best guess -- it was definitely not in the 1990s, but could have been made earlier), I remember watching a few animated clips on television that were made specifically as a "preview" for books that kids should read. I remember A Wrinkle in Time and The Secret Garden. The animated clips would show what happened in the first few chapters of the book and encourage you to go read it to find out what happened next. They were just a few minutes each, and they caused me to read the books a little earlier than I…
