I was just reading Evil Inc., and I was wondering if your heroes have henchmen. Supervillains have henchmen along with agents. I have seen superheroes with agents but not henchmen. Maybe the sidekick fills the roll, but in truth, you usually only see one sidekick per hero while a supervillain can have dozens of henchmen. Does your superhero group have henchmen style heroes? More powerful by far than an agent, yet works for the hero?

How would one build a "bag of holding" in 6e? I don't know how much of the power should be special effect and how much points-based, as I am mostly seeking a way for a magical character to explain carrying a lot of stuff effortlessly. Basically an extra dimensional space through a focus to carry weight and bulk. Not really sure how to go about it.

I just had a thought and didn’t want it to die of loneliness.... What does anyone currently GM’ing a game think of the idea of running an adventure with Red Doom? Would that be a useful venting of frustrations or an exercise in bad taste?

I finally finished my on-again/off-again project...re-imagining the paranoid and trigger-happy Exterminators from the Champions 4th Edition source book Alien Enemies that are posted in the downloads area. Included are Microsoft Word and Hero Files of the characters. Here's a quick snapshot of the re-imagined characters: Slick a.k.a. Stan Sneiderwind is now Dagger a.k.a. Pierce Fairchild, the narcissistic public face of the team Specs a.k.a. Dr. Maxwell Sanders is now Mentor a.k.a. Dr. Gregory Murdock, a brilliant but paranoid scientist Bruiser a.k.a. Jud Hogan is now Barricade a.k.a. Leon Jackson, a former mixed martial arts fighter using…

Some creatures can burrow into other creatures, or gain entrance into the body of host. I want to create a creature to have the ability to enter another creature and yet be a seperate entity and not a disease/poison. How best to build such a creature?

OK there has been some discussion in the 5th edition renaissance thread about this but I think it needs its own post. When you pick up, say, a D&D modue it says on the cover or back text something like "for an adventure group 4th to 6th level". Because D&D is designed with Character Levels, this makes design and designation of overall power level (and rewards) easy to categorize. I have put out several adventure modules and in them I try to approximate the rough level of points from all characters combined for maximum applicability. But its rough and not very helpful for many specifics in Hero. Hero has no "levels" as we all know, which is a big ad…

Because of a post in the Champions Now forum, I've started thinking about building high end DC characters again. One of the classic conundrums in character modelling is the point bloat in the last couple of editions. Up until 4th edition, if you followed George MacDonald's guidelines: 100 points in a power is awesome, and apperently essentially a hard cap in his game, you could pretty much occupy the high end space if your character was built on 500-800 points. The published villains tended to support this. These days you need 10 times that many points, or you just get toasted by any number of published villains. In the early days, it …

Looking for an effect that would anchor a character so he/she be difficult to move from position, be it someone grabing him/her to knockback to recoil of a gun. Any suggestions ... I have a few idea wondering in my head but like to hear from others first.

I been running a game using Champions Complete and playing in the RWBY: Remnant universe since July 2021. Those not familiar with RWBY it is an animated series made by Rooster Teeth ... which i like to call American anime (my nephew always corrects me and says anime is only from Japan). While I been running Hero Games since 1981 on and off, thus very familiar with the rules sometimes I like input from others about a superpower or other effects. In RWBY a character's superpower is referred to as Semblance. A NPC i have introduced by the name Zicron has he ability to see just a tad into the future (like 4 seconds max), the power effects I figure would give him …

I been running a campaign in the World of Remnant, which is the world that RWBY is set in. If one not familiar with RWBY one can simply go to Rooster Teeth and check it out. I love RWBY because it has elements of Super-Powers called which are call Semblances. Nearly all Melee weapons are also a Gun. All character names are colors, make you think of a color, sounds like a color, or means a color. Characters are loosely based on a Fable, Legend or Myth ... et cetera. The one thing that most difficult is fully defining Aura ... as related to characters in show it is a force field (resistance protection), Stun, Regeneration to some degree (fair…

Every organization will develop "professional" titles, even if they are not formalized. Most of the time they will simply be expanded versions of some current title, such as management, accounting, director, etc. However, I can imagine situations where super organizations require specific titles for specialized roles. Let's get our creative juices flowing and work on making some (possibly all) these different roles. The more traditional roles will also be available, but let's put in something that makes them nontraditional.

Greetings Heroes! Was asked about a concept - wanted to get some feedback on it. Note that we are using 4th Ed. A character wants to be able to teleport - and when he teleports the special effect of him appearing is so bright that it works like an 2d6 AoE Flash attack - and then he attacks. The challenge that I have is thinking it through mechanically. This means that the PC would teleport in - and it's attack action for that phase would be used upon appearing from the teleport if the Flash was Linked (and used) with the teleport. My questions are: Am I correct that the Flash would end the PC's turn? Is there any combos…

I must be missing this in the rules somewhere, but I am trying to build a Transform with the limitation that it only effects willing targets. I am thinking it should be a Limited Power - 1/2. Thoughts?

Over the past couple of years I have been updating characters and resources from earlier editions to 6th Edition while also picking up various 5th Edition publications in physical hard copy and digital format. After intermittent breaks in the editing and converting, I find myself drawn to simply updating older character versions to 5th Edition over 6th Edition...although I'm not really sure why. Is it the artwork and layout? Possibly. Although close to a couple decades old, the exterior and interior artwork for the 5th Edition Hero System still hold up well compared to products published by other companies. The Book of Dragons remains one of my favorite source…

I don't know who all out here is still into paper copies, but just in case anyone is still into collecting this stuff, I ran across this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115288800744?hash=item1ad7bf7de8:g:EdgAAOSwK15iKv1d No; I have zero stake in this. I havent snapped it up because I already have two copies (I won't pretend they are in better shape than this one: most of my paper stuff from the first four editions was thoroughly enjoyed, and looks like it. I don't collect to have pristine books: I "collect" only because I biught them when they came out, enjoyed them for decades, and still have them). I put it up here because it seem…

Say I want to avoid being teleported, turned desolid, or made to fly off a cliff. A bad guy has used a power UAA on me. What defends me from such a vile act?

I am creating a Fountain of Youth which characters can use as part of their background. Based on the legend of Prestor John in game the Fountain does exist in a "faraway kingdom," which in game terms is a pocket dimension. Characters must bath in it once a season to receive the benefits which are: +10 STR, CON, REC; + 20 END & +20 STUN; 4 Resistant PD & ED; +4 Leaping: LS: Longevity (400 years), and Regeneration 1 Body/5 Min with Regrow limbs. The aging slows and their abilities increase for the 90 day period and then they must bath again (which means a trip to a portal in a hidden area or Extra-Dimensional Movement). They also need to …

Good evening all! I am running a Champions 4th Ed game (I know it very well - so I keep using it even though there have been some good updates). My question / request: Does anyone have a build that simulates Nightcrawler that they can share? I have a player who wants to clone Nightcrawler - and we are stuck on how to buy some of the powers he envisions. For example, he wants to be able to teleport in-between two NPCs, then as they try to shoot him, he Bamf's away and they shoot each other. To me, this is simply taking a half phase move in between two NPC's, then when the NPC's go on their phase he uses his remaining half phase to teleport aw…

Inspired by Utensil's Continuing Fuel Charge thread in the Hero Designer Forum: Effect: In an amine game, I want to buy a sword that can grow larger and do more damage for a short period of time twice per day. Sword: Killing Attack - Hand-To-Hand 2d6 (3d6+1 w/STR), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (45 Active Points); OAF (-1) 22 -plus- ...wait, I can't add Continuing Charges to an Instant Power. Use Time Limit? No... "Time Limit is generally intended for nonattack abilities — “utility” or defensive powers that don’t require Attack Rolls to affect a target or which won’t unbalance a campaign. In most cases, attacks should u…

Anyone know where I can find some good examples or advice on how to build computers and bases? So far I've copied the things I like off of the template in the Champions Complete book, but I found it very lacking in details and advice. Especially when building for the modern world computers seem extremely expensive. I'm also trying to build a base and may build a vehicle some day, so advice on those would help too.
